Anybody Thrilla 08-09-2006 05:42 PM

Let's talk about Kevin Thorn.

I've only seen him wrestle twice, but I like him a lot. The gimmick isn't new, but it doesn't seem very familiar. That 'stunner' thing he does with the opponent's feet on the ropes is SICK (especially the way Guido sold it). His valet is hot in a creepy way. I can see him being a big time player. What do you think?

P.S. - I didn't watch SmackDOWN! during the time of Mordecai. Is that him?

Kane Knight 08-09-2006 05:48 PM

I think it's ironic that the game guys who were balking at the Zombie (The announce team) are creaming themselves over how Thorn is all ECW.

Kane Knight 08-09-2006 05:48 PM

And yes, it's the D&D guy.

Blitz 08-09-2006 05:50 PM

I'm a mark. I love the look, the entrance, the music, God help me, I'm even fond of the name.

Lord-Of-Darkness 08-09-2006 05:51 PM

Yeah I like the character, I'm not sure which I prefer out of this and Mordecai. But seeing as this is his character now, I'll roll with it. I agree that he seems like hes going to be a big time player, he seems to have all the right tools. It's just getting the right gimmick. I think this could very well be it, but then again everybody said that about the Mordecai character.

But until being proven otherwise by the gimmick failing, you can count me in on the Kevin Thorn bandwagon.

Afterlife 08-09-2006 05:51 PM

Well, the Zombie was intended as farce and showed no in-ring ability. Thorn actually appears imposing and has a viscious moveset.

But even so, he's still a fucking vampire. Gimmicks weren't what ECW was about at all. They were kinda being hypocritical, but that doesn't mean he can't still be awesome.

Anybody Thrilla 08-09-2006 06:02 PM

How'd they describe it? ECW is a place for outcasts or something? That may be kinda true, but it was never a place for the supernatural. To their credit though, at least they say he's into the vampire life style instead of trying to sell him as an ACTUAL vampire.

Arnold HamNegger 08-09-2006 06:07 PM

I like him. I like his valet more, but then again...Daffney is my favorite "Diva" of all time.

Do you think we eventually could see a "Flock" of sorts consisting of bite victims?

Anybody Thrilla 08-09-2006 06:09 PM

Oh shit, that's Daffney? I didn't even notice.

That's a pretty good idea. It'd be a good way to get more guys TV time simultaneously too, since they've only got an hour. I just hope Shannon Moore doesn't join him.

Rammsteinmad 08-09-2006 06:12 PM

I didn't really like him as Modecai, but so far I'm really impressed with Kevin Thorn.

No, that's not Daffney...I was just explaining my taste in valet's. I'd love to see her in ECW though.

I was thinking the same thing and I agree anyone but Shannon! If you want to go with a Brood/Flock type thing, I think Joey Mercury would be a good addition once he's out of rehab...and dare I say...Jeff Hardy?

McLegend 08-09-2006 06:23 PM

I don't mind Kevin Thorn. I prefer him to Mike Knoxx.

But anyway we should be talking about Rene Dupree, and how different he looks now. I couldn't believe that was him.

Corkscrewed 08-09-2006 06:31 PM

Yeah, Ariel is, well, Ariel.
http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com...s/a/ariel.html

At least I'm pretty sure that's her.

EDIT: Actually, maybe not. Don't see any mention of WWE at all, not even in the links that page gives. Oh well.

Blitz 08-09-2006 06:34 PM

Naw Corky.

McLegend 08-09-2006 06:36 PM

Yeah there was some naked pictures of her going around earlier in the year I believe.

Kevin Thorn's Entrance Video

I do think there is a lot they can do with the character, it could be an interesting social comment type of deal, the same way Raven was, although obviously there will obviously not be as much depth. Still, a nice change, and hopefully it isn't going to be just a total cartoon.

No way that can't be her. From that sight:

1st Week of July to 1st Week August 2006
Lucha Libre Femenil
Monterrey, Mexico
Ariel returns to Mexico for another summer tour

Plus, those photos were like Kryptonite to my Ariel fetish. God, I hope that's not her....thank god for make up then.

Cactus Sid 08-09-2006 06:53 PM

Its Shelly Martinez as Blitz post says

And yes, she is fucking hot

So would this have been Gangrel's gimmick if he weren't so fat?

Azriel 08-09-2006 07:50 PM

Kevin Thorn is everything Gangrel wished he was

They were mocking him before he stepped into the Ring. Thorne, OTOH, was praised for being ECW material before stepping into the ring.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

What Would Kevin Do? 08-09-2006 08:20 PM

BTW.

They're not saying he's a Vampire. They're saying he follows Vampirism. Two totally different things. It's that whole underground scene thing. Hell, they could take it farther if they wanted and claim he's mentally disturbed.... As long as they don't have him turn into a bat via bad special effects, I'm fine.

McLegend 08-09-2006 08:23 PM

What if it was good special effects? would you be fine with that?

Thanks for the blatantly obvious.

Mr. Nerfect 08-10-2006 12:33 AM

I'd mark out if Kevin Thorn ran in during The Great Khali and Undertaker's Last Man Standing Match and knocked them both down for the ten count.

Kevin Fertig is a pretty talented big man, and he's great with characters like this. The only reason Mordecai flopped was because of his lame-ass brawl with Hardcore Holly. No disprespect to Holly, but he should have taken a squash loss to Mordecai.

Just ignore that post. I was skimming the thread and thought someone was bitching about them doing a supernatural gimmick. I misread their post though.

Although I would laugh my ass off for a video of Thorn going crazy and pretending to be a bat.

That would be hilarious.

BigDaddyCool 08-10-2006 12:37 AM

Wait, so Kevin Thorne isn't Gangrel?

McLegend 08-10-2006 12:44 AM

That is correct BDC

Hell, I'd mark out.

They could even mock Sports Entertainment in the process. I mean, they used to have a superhero team. A couple, actually, considering Molly, then later Rosey....

Blitz 08-10-2006 12:47 AM

Wasn't Gangrel supposed to come in with him at some point? Or was that just a rumour?

Anybody Thrilla 08-10-2006 03:37 AM

I didn't think they spelled it with an 'e'. Kevin Thorn, right?

If he did, we would have the words "Gangrel is a part of White Wolf" down our throats everytime the WWE made reference to their copyrights.

But yeah, I like this Kevin Thorn (this is alot better than the shitty Mordecai, even though that was booked VERY wrong). I have a liking for vamps myself, so this is worth the price. And yeah, I would bang Ariel (and bite her ALOT if she wanted to) the second I had the opportunity.

They signed the wrestler, and he was rumoured to show up in support of Fertig, possibly as part of a stable. That doesn't mean he has to be called "Gangrel" anymore than Fertig had to be called "Mordecai."

Kane Knight 08-10-2006 09:58 AM

And yeah, there's no "E." If they were smart they would have spelled it with one, though.
