Who was/is better? WCW's Meng or Umaga?

Just a random question I thought up. Which do you think was the better overall character? WCW's master of the Tongan Death Grip - Meng (not WWF/E's Haku) or WWE's Umaga.

Sickboy 08-16-2006 10:03 AM

I actually didn't think Meng was all that bad, and he also had an awesome hair, but Umaga is better.

Craftsman 08-16-2006 10:07 AM

Meng looked less goofy, more intimidating back in the day. He also wore a long skirt.

Ben Rodrigues 08-16-2006 10:08 AM

One thing I remember about Meng was that match on Nitro with Bret Hart for the WCW World Championship - where they hyped the match as if Meng was going to take the belt. Gave it the big fight feel... to a degree.

Fignuts 08-16-2006 10:34 AM

umaga is the better wrestler, but meng's mannerisms were cooler.

Fignuts 08-16-2006 10:34 AM

MIIIIIIIIIIIINOOOOOOOSSSSSS!!!

Skippord 08-16-2006 10:39 AM

Meng

FourFifty 08-16-2006 12:46 PM

Now with 35 percent more ass!!!

So are you trying to say when it comes to Umaga or Meng, your vote goes to Rikishi?

Stickman 08-16-2006 01:16 PM

I say Meng. You actually believed he was a bad ass. Umaga just has a goofy manager, face paint, and screems a lot. And the thumb jabbing at the neck as a finisher is really weak.

Rammsteinmad 08-16-2006 01:35 PM

Meng. But I was never really a fan.

Umaga is starting to entertain me though.

Johnny Vegas 08-16-2006 02:05 PM

The only reason i WATCH umaga is his manager. Meng definitely.

The Tongan Death Grip was seriously no better.

Anybody Thrilla 08-16-2006 02:35 PM

Also, at least Umaga HAS an entertaining manager. Meng didn't even have that. he was boring and limited in the ring. Wasn't he in the Dungeon of Doom, too? If so, he automatically loses.

Azriel 08-16-2006 02:38 PM

Tough one, but I'll have to go with Jamalga

I see what you're saying, but I'd pick the Death Grip over the Thumb to the neck jab any day of the week, twice on sundays.

I know I'm just feeding fodder to Jabba now, but that put "Jewmaga" into my head for some reason.

Also, Umaga.

Kane Knight 08-16-2006 02:59 PM

Mng looked remotely solid. Jamalga looks like a fucking joke.

Outsider 08-16-2006 03:05 PM

So a Turd Sandwich or a Giant Douche?

PullMyFinger 08-16-2006 04:36 PM

Meng was the shit! Hahahhaa I remember that night as well...when they hyped him against Bret Hart. I was a mark, and even I knew he had zero chance of winning.

Fox 08-16-2006 04:39 PM

They're on equal levels of sucktitude.

Ben Rodrigues 08-16-2006 05:47 PM

Tonga > Samoa.

They did the same with his match with Goldberg. I remember everyone was going nuts when Meng got the Tongan Death grip on Goldberg, saying it was over.

Obviously Goldberg got out of it, Spear, Jackhammer, pinfall, *MARK OUT*.

Hanso Amore 08-16-2006 07:38 PM

Meng was kind of like a legite tough guy, and they always made him look strong, even against goldberg. He always held his own, but rarely won, but you could buy him as a real threat.

Umaga is pushed as a monster who kills jobebrs but needs help to beat stars....

Meng by far. He didnt have much success but when he came out and started chopping, its was nice.

Mr. JL 08-16-2006 07:42 PM

Meng

Savio 08-16-2006 08:11 PM

I like em both.

I never saw the second one, but the first time when the nWo was at ringside and then he locks it on...I was like, WTF did he release it for, Stupid fucking asshole...making me miss Raw for some stupid shit.

Same here. I remember saying "BUT WHAT THE FUCK!?!?" when he let go at the 2 count. I was already sick of Goldberg.

The same here. But Umaga is getting a bit better every show.

James Steele 08-16-2006 11:59 PM

Meng was badass!

Anybody Thrilla 08-17-2006 04:45 AM

C'mon. There seriously can't be this many Meng fans. I think the nostalgia factor is getting to some of you.

Lara Emily 08-17-2006 04:49 AM

Meng

I like the death grip.

Anybody Thrilla 08-17-2006 04:51 AM

Barbarian was obviously more talented than Meng.

Do you think it is that they like Meng, or hate Umaga?

Impact! 08-17-2006 06:36 AM

I dont like either.
