Honestly, what happened to him? Did his ego take over or something? I remember like a year ago reading that he was one of the nicest guys backstage, now I seem to keep reading that he's been whiny and everything.

He was pushed to the moon. I'd imagine that some people can't handle that kind of ego injection without becoming cocks.

Seems like he was a prick to Booker T. Also, I remember in the midst of his title push, he would talk mad shit about the SmackDOWN! workers and the product in general. Before anybody says "Well, SmackDOWN! does suck", you really shouldn't be making your negative views public when you're about to become a figurehead for the company. Especially when he wasn't even on that show yet. It's one thing for fans to think your show sucks, but it doesn't help when they find out your workers don't like it either.

I guess he started giving off the feelings that he was carrying Smackdown, he was the only good thing on the show, he was too good to be there, that and there were rumors of him fooling around with Melina....which led to the whole Booker & Sharmell vs. Batista & Melina brawl, which Meltzer reported as an "overwhelming decision for Booker, who dominated the stand-up"

Maybe he was spoiled, maybe he just acted humble thinking it's what would get him somewhere (A lot of sociopaths will do things like this). Maybe he became a dick. I used to hear nice things about Batista. They was around the time of his megapush, so maybe he was just happy because every day was better than the last and a step closer to being the top guy? I mean, rising to the top must be more fun than sitting on the title without credible challengers. I can understand why Batista would get kind of cockish. He's the only guy on SmackDown! universally established by the WWE, excluding The Undertaker.

He probably sees himself right up there with The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and Triple H in terms of recognition and ability. He's not a "young guy", so he thinks he must be a veteran and a majorly respected entity in the lockerroom. The guy was surprised when he got booed at ECW, and surprised the lockerroom stood behind Booker T when they got into their scuffle. That shows me that Batista thinks he is respected immensely by his peers and by the fans, to the point where normal rules don't apply to him.

So either the guy is naturally a dick, and became nice while he was on the rise, when he could still slip back into the abyss of mid-carders; or being at the top has warped his mind to the point where he thinks he is more special than he is.

Either way, I hope the WWE keeps the World Heavyweight Title on King Booker through Summerslam.

1) he's stuck on Smackdown, where there are NO star players left except for himself and the Undertaker (since Rey Mysterio is now out for 6 months), which probably makes him feel far less important than RAW stars, or even ECW stars.

2) he got slammed for the way he handled (or failed to handle) the match at Hammerstein against Show a few weeks ago, and the way the fans reacted to him.


On a side note, Batista was never very good, and now that he doesn't have all these star players to make him look good, he's really starting to fall apart.

Batista was never a great wrestler, but he was more solid before his injury. He's sloppier and looks less focused much of the time. While it's true he was carried by some name value stars, his own work has been adversely affected by something beyond that. It may be that he's pissed for being on smackdown, but it's not simply relagated to him being carried.

Even his one move he did good is falling apart. He used to give a sick ass powerbomb, not on the vader level, but one of the best Ive seen. Now he kinda picks the guy up and falls down with him. Its like he just doesnt give a shit anymore.

WHo knows what the roids or lack thereof haev done to him. He seems much weaker these days.

well, Trips seemed to go through a similar phase after his injury. Maybe there's something about coming back from an injury and being a shell of your former self that turns you into a smarks enemy. :lol:

Two words on Batista's sub-par performance: ring rust. As far as backstage goes I'm not in the locker room, I just watch the shows. Doesn't affect me in the slightest.
