2 Raw wrestlers and 1 Smackdown wrestler made their returns at the OVW tapings

Chris Masters returned to action at last night's OVW TV tapings. He hadn't appeared in a wrestling ring since May 22, 2006 when he lost to John Cena on an episode of RAW. He was suspended shortly there after for using painkillers without a prescription. Anyways, Masters conducted a Masterlock challenge - which was answered by Brent Albright (Gunner Scott). However, the challenge never really took place as he nailed Albright in the head with a microphone and then he put the Masterlock on him. Also note, Chris Masters' physique looked considerably smaller in his return appearance. Apparently, he lost a significant amount of muscle mass during his time away as he looks slender now.

Chris Masters wasn't the only WWE Superstar to return to action as The Boogeyman made an appearance at the TV tapings as well. He came out and confronted an OVW wrestler by the name of Jacob Duncan (Ryan Wilson aka Trytan). The Boogeyman had been out of action since Wrestlemania due to a left bicep tear.

The parade of returning WWE stars doesn't end there as RAW Diva Beth Phoenix made her first appearance in a wrestling ring since June. She defeated OVW women's wrestler Serena in a match. Phoenix had been out of action for two months due to a fractured mandible which required a titanium plate to be placed into her jaw. credit: PWInsider

Londoner 08-18-2006 10:59 AM

Oh no kingofoldschool, you neg repped me for saying my opinion!(typical) It wasn't a criticsm of you just so you know, just didn't think this was worth reporting at all.

Destor 08-18-2006 11:04 AM

Its good to keep up with these guys. It seems like they are prepping Masters for a return and as we all know Bogeyman is slated to back after or at Summer Slam. Beth Phoenix gets a meh from me.

Anybody Thrilla 08-18-2006 11:05 AM

I like Chris Masters and The Boogeyman was kinda entertaining. Sue me.

Corkscrewed 08-18-2006 01:49 PM

Damn, he's smaller than I imagined. I'm praying he comes back at Summerslam to help Orton beat Hogan. They needed to drop "The Masterpiece" thing, anyway. If they bring him back and try to make him physically intimidated, I will puke.

Maybe they'll get off their asses and get some tag teams going on RAW, again. Bring in Masters with Brent Albright, call them "The Troubleshooters" and let them do stuff.

Volare 08-18-2006 08:04 PM

I don't think he'll sell anything anymore. Everyone watching the WWE in the past year knows about him and if they have more IQ than a cardboard box...they'll know whats happened.

Mr. Nerfect 08-18-2006 08:05 PM

Are they just going to forget about King Booker's restraining order against The Boogeyman? That's pretty stupid. I know, the WWE is not known for keeping up to date with their storylines, but at least move the guy to RAW where he can be lost in the shuffle.

Beth Phoenix should be used to feud with Victoria. The women's division will likely be covered by Lita and Trish Stratus , at least for the next month, so give Victoria that time off to rest her knees, while Phoenix works in OVW with some of the lesser experienced ladies. Then let them return, with Phoenix winning the title from Lita, at Cyber Sunday, while Victoria takes October off to repair her legs, while Mickie James trains with the weaker women. It all works out providing there are no injuries.

Volare 08-18-2006 10:48 PM

or no liver diseases

I know it's hard to let go, but seriously - WWE + Continuity = Oxymoron.
Hell, next week no one writing the show will remember that Edge bitchslapped Mr. Cena.

NeanderCarl 08-19-2006 12:28 AM

Am I right in thinking that (storyline-wise) the Masterlock has still never been broken?

Without his look, the so-called Masterpiece is worthless. Don't get me wrong, he still looks in tremendous shape compared to your average man on the street. But his body was his gimmick, and it's gone the way of Paul Orndorff's arm. Without super-muscles, Masters is just another bland, poor worker.
