Halo 2 Speed run gets in Guinness record book

http://www.planetxbox360.com/index.p...tails/show/259

Halo 2 player and speed runner, Cody Miller, has been inducted into the Guinness World Records 2007 for completing Halo 2 on legendary difficulty without dying once.

Some of you may remember the Twin Galaxies halo 2 bounty. Fastest time through the game on Legendary wins 250 dollars, however one stipulation was that you could not die. At first I thought beatign the game in one go on Legendary with zero deaths was impossible, however the more I thought about it, the more it looked like it could be done. A few days ago I did just that, Legendary with zero deaths. The time from the xbox startup to the credit's end is 3hrs 28 min. I mailed the tape in today, and it's not official until it's reviewed by Twin galaxies, but I think this proves it can be done. Basically it involves a lot of persistance, and some luck. I've been trying on and off to do this since it was announced last december.

Damn, Legendary without dying once? INSANE!

Nervous Ferret 08-20-2006 12:04 AM

Not insane, pathetic is more like it

Skippord 08-20-2006 12:14 AM

Yeah I agree

Drakul 08-20-2006 12:37 AM

I wouldn't say its pathetic. To beat a FPS all you need is to know the map and the enemy lay out and the rest is just about reflexes, really.
Plus there are alot of records out there more pathetic than beating a game in 3 hours. Like "Farthest Spaghetti Nasal Ejection".

alvarado52 08-20-2006 12:39 AM

....and? Your just gonna leave us hanging? I wanna know how far and who's record i will break.

On a side note, those Guinness records are WAY to specific. Like 'Longest fart by a 13 year in his home on a saturday night at 7:13pm eastern time while in the living room watching The Simpsons'

Drakul 08-20-2006 12:43 AM

Are you sure your heart can take the excitment of spaghetti blowing?

Quote:

Farthest Spaghetti Nasal Ejection
Kevin Cole of Carlsbad, New Mexico, USA, holds the record for the longest spaghetti strand blown out of a nostril in a single blow. On December 16, 1998, Kevin successfully achieved a record distance of 19 cm (7.5 in) on the set of Guinness World Records: Primetime in Los Angeles, California, USA. Kevin first started practicing his nasal ejection with Ramon noodles and then progressed onto spaghetti. He has the ability to blow one end of the spaghetti out of one nostril, and the other end out of the other nostril for a "nasal floss" effect.

alvarado52 08-20-2006 12:45 AM

lol, Nasal Floss effect. This guy is a noodle GOD!

Drakul 08-20-2006 12:53 AM

I think he's a moron but whatever.

Anyway, Anyone think they could be in a record book for game related stuff? I bet I could be.

alvarado52 08-20-2006 12:57 AM

Well youd have to record it (obviously) but seems like the only thing the record books look at as 'legit' is speed wise, youd have to do a speed run. I dont think you could pull off anything else (ie: most melee kills in 2min on Halo 2).

hmmm...someone should look this stuff up, and we should try to snap some records in the name of the Dub.

Drakul 08-20-2006 01:00 AM

I've completed Wind Waker over 6 times without dying once. Will that make it in? Very doubtful.

I can do the original Super Mario Bros game in no time at all without dying and without "tool assistance". Just running non stop.

Uhhh, I'm sure theres more but I can't think right now.

Xero 08-20-2006 01:01 AM

So Halo gets in before a PacMan record?

What bullshit.

Drakul 08-20-2006 01:03 AM

I'm sure I read a PacMan record in one of the books. Can't remember what it was.

pathetic maybe, but still impressive.
I think I've played Halo 2 about 3 times, that game sucks. As does Halo.

Kalyx triaD 09-01-2006 08:21 PM

I've never been impressed with speed runs, they're so... solo.

And has impressive it is speed run Halo 2 on Legendary, it is pretty much knowing the map and enemy layout. If I had the time and drive, if any of us did, the record wouldn't be so special. It's more a reward for who has the time and motivation to do such a thing.

And it sure as Hell don't mean jack in a multiplayer environment. I see it like those gay 8-hit combo vids in Tekken (or double-digit shit in 2D fighters); "Meh, let's fight already."

Nervous Ferret 09-04-2006 12:49 AM

I stand by my original commment

El Fangel 09-04-2006 12:57 AM

Well three things that I can do in videogames I have not seen others do is:

1) Beat the first level of Medal of Honor blindfolded
2) Nearly beat Mario Bros 3...Using only my feet.
3) Snipe with a shotgun. or similar weapon, and get a OHK. :p

Nervous Ferret 09-04-2006 01:00 AM

When somebody teaches themselves to play videogames with their feet, and they have 2 able bodied arms, is where I lose all respect for said person.

El Fangel 09-04-2006 01:02 AM

If that is the only game you have, and you can beat it without dying once with your hands you tend to look for something a little more challenging if your low on money and can't afford another game.

Nervous Ferret 09-04-2006 01:03 AM

The sun won't harm you

Nervous Ferret 09-04-2006 01:03 AM

(I promise)

El Fangel 09-04-2006 01:06 AM

I know that, I usually spend alot of time outside, its that I don't live near alot of people, in my younger years, so rainy days I played games. Otherwise I was building crap, and playing basketball by myself.

Extreme Angle 09-04-2006 04:39 AM

supidest one i've seen is somebody killing ozma on final fantasy 9 at lvl 1
