holy fuck - stampede wrestling rocked!

just watching the opening 1/2hr of the bret hart dvd.

The stampede wrestling was amazing- fastpaced, energetic and looked much more realistic than WWE today. Bret Hart could really move when he was young! And that dynamite kid was awesome!

After watching this I just realised how shitty todays wrestling is - john cena etc.

John Cena isn't fit to lick the hitman's boots.

Anyway
I'm gonna watch some more stampede wrestling!

Tom Billington is probably easily one of the best that ever lived.

And yes, better than Bret or Davey Boy in my books.

If you enjoy watching that Stampede-era stuff you should read Tom Billington's (Dynamite Kid) book. Should be pretty cheap on Amazon.

The first full Stampede match on DVD will be on the Pillman DVD. I believe as well before they had to cut down the material that a complete Bret/Dynamite match from Stampede was going to be on the Bret DVD.

Cool. That Dynamite Kid guy went on to win the WWF Title under the name Diesel. True Story.

Don't be so dismissive. Kid's book is worth reading on its own merits, especially when you have someone nowadays like Kurt Angle who for all intents and purposes is following Kid's road. I'm not so sure how easy it is to track down but it one of the best wrestling books ever written.

I had to order it from a magazine or something it's a hard one to find but everyone should read it. True it would probably help people better understand Kurt's situation aswell. I have it beside me right now - Pure Dynamite by Former "British Bulldog" Tom Billington.

Some great stories from Japan and a great insight into the Bulldog's relationship.

Dynamite's book is very good but he is a very bitter man and reading this book did change my opinion on him as a person.

Avenger 09-04-2006 05:33 PM

Yeah it doesn't put him in the best light but then again nothing is ever totally clear in wrestling. Bad guys and good guys backstage are hard to tell. Who did what, who didn't? I tend to think they're all generally assholes by the end of their career.

except HBK of course...

The MAC 09-04-2006 06:00 PM

yes, HBK became an asshole a long time ago..

I read it. Pain & Passion is better. Especially at describing what the original poster wanted to know about.
