Smackdown

What's the real reason that it's not live?

Raw's live, ECW is live(?). Why not Smackdown?

St. Jimmy 09-07-2006 09:45 AM

It's due to scheduling. It's easier to have 3 day spurts. Plus it's not smart marketing to oversaturate your product into 3 days a row each week.

Kane Knight 09-07-2006 09:51 AM

Ummmm...Network TV?

What Jimmy said is all well and good, but it pales compared to the fact that they're on network.

The Mackem 09-07-2006 11:59 AM

I don't understand Network TV at all, can you please expand Kane Knight?

OverTaker 09-07-2006 12:29 PM

Because they forgot about Smackdown long time ago.

Afterlife 09-07-2006 02:56 PM

UPN doesn't like the word "ass". They're never going to allow a live WWE program after seeing an episode of RAW.

Are you sure?

SD's 8 o'clock hour:

BATISTA TO SOME GUY: I'm gonna kick your *BEEEEP*!

SD's 9 o'clock hour:

JBL: Damn, does McCool have the best ass on Smackdown or WHAT?!

(NOTE TO ANY DUMBASSES: None of this was actually SAID on a SD show. I'm just trying to make a point.)

Corkscrewed 09-08-2006 07:25 AM

network TV allows stronger language after 9. So it's all about the time slot.

The real reason is scheduling reasons. It costs a lot less to send the production crew out on a three day trip to set shows up rather than two trips a week to set shows up.

Dave Youell 09-08-2006 07:27 AM

So what's going to be the deal when it goes to the CW network then? Can they get away with it?

Will it still be on Friday nights? Or are they going to get the old Thursday spot back?

Do you mean the three shows in three days? I don't understand why that means Smackdown can't go out live on Tuesday.

Wrong Forum :p

Mr. JL 09-08-2006 01:56 PM

I remember reading somewhere that it costs the WWE a quarter of a million dollars to air RAW live. So it could just be a way to save money perhaps.

I'm guessing network is terrestrial.

Then RAW is on cable, which is like cable.

I dunno I'm probably wrong.

M-A-G 09-09-2006 03:42 AM

It's a combination of scheduling of the networks and the cost of doing live shows. Suppose SmackDown!'s timeslot was in fact on Tuesday, the same day its tapings occur presently. That's two live shows back to back to contend with.
