TNA President Promises Major Announcement

TNA President Promises Major Announcement
By Ryan Gray on September 19, 2006 at 9:53 AM EST

TNA President, Dixie Carter has posted a message on TNA’s official website promising a major announcement and this Sunday’s No Surrender PPV:

"In the course of history, there are defining moments that change the fabric of a company forever. These are moments that are spoken about for years, not days, and serve as benchmarks in the annals of a company’s growth. And on occasion, those moments transcend the individual company and re-write the history of an industry. This Sunday at the NO SURRENDER PPV, an announcement will be made that will do just that. You will not want to miss the NO SURRENDER PPV."

I'm not buying the PPV but what do you suppose the news is? I'm betting it is a time slot against one of the WWE's shows or maybe going to 2 hour shows.

Or maybe its TNA's chance to bring to light that Jeff Jarrett's plan is to hold onto the NWA title until the year 2016.

Destor 09-19-2006 07:22 PM

Probably a two hour time slot. Possibly Goldberg hype.

Boondock Saint 09-19-2006 07:24 PM

Whatever it is, it will prolly be a let-down.

Boondock Saint 09-19-2006 07:25 PM

Also, I haven't seen TNA in about a year, so I dunno how well they have delivered on their past "big announcements."

Those are the exact things that came to my mind, too. If it turns out to be Goldberg hype, it will be a major letdown. But then again, this is TNA we're talking about.

Joey Slugs 09-19-2006 07:28 PM

Two hour time slot and that they start to tape outside of Orlando.

BigDaddyCool 09-19-2006 10:28 PM

Maybe they will fire Jeff Jarrett go back to a 4 sided ring and quit being gay.

I wish that would happen except for the Jarrett part, I still like him.:)

I think it'll be them bringing in Fake Sting. . .or Lex Luger.

No

I think Sting is having a sex change.

They have all ready had both of them in TNA. Not joking either.

Wildcat Chris Harris dressed up as Sting in at least two segements, and I remember at least one of them being funny. Lex Luger there was a low point in TNA history.

The Optimist 09-19-2006 11:35 PM

Damn. . .maybe they're selling to Ted Turner or something.

Kane Knight 09-19-2006 11:48 PM

Luger's been there at least twice, ainhe?

McLegend 09-19-2006 11:59 PM

Maybe during the weekly PPV's. He did do a promo when they were on the Best damn Sports Show, but I am sure no one remembers that except for me.

Mr. Nerfect 09-20-2006 12:47 AM

Wow, I didn't even consider the two-hour timeslot. That would be good. The first thing that popped into my head was "Goldberg", followed by "Bob Sapp", followed by "Kurt Angle". A combination announcement would be great. Just march out Angle, Goldberg and Sapp, and let them have a three-way stare-down in the ring. Then have Dixie Carter announce the timeslot, then have Samoa Joe choke-out Jarrett in the main event.

Boondock Saint 09-20-2006 12:51 AM

LOL, now THAT'S an announcement.

Boondock Saint 09-20-2006 12:52 AM

Angle would be pretty big, but I'd be pissed at them for even offering him a deal, knowing how messed up he is right now.

Innovator 09-20-2006 01:22 AM

Last two times they had an announcement, it was Christian and Sting respectively. I can see Goldberg since Spike would help out with his salary, so I'm banking on that or the 2 hour time slot.

I doubt they'd ask him to wrestle. Probably more of a "Championship Committee" type thing. Maybe bring him back as a manager, or something? He's too big a name for TNA to not at least try to get. He really should have a few matches left in him down the line. Let him begin to set up storylines with guys by playing Christian's new manager. The guy's interactions with Eric Young, Kevin Nash and Alex Shelley backstage would be worth bringing him in, alone.

.44 Magdalene 09-20-2006 02:34 AM

They're going to cybernetically infuse the belt to Jarret's body.

Dave Youell 09-20-2006 03:15 AM

Or just a better timeslot

Agreed. TNA has these so-called "HUGE" announcements on a monthly basis, most of which are easily forgotten.

Pinnacle Charisma 09-20-2006 08:47 AM

If it will be Angle I will mark out.

I will be pissed off at TNA of course for giving him a deal because he is so fucked up but at the same time it will be huge for wrestling.

KingofOldSchool 09-20-2006 08:52 AM

Scott Hall's coming back.

RP 09-20-2006 09:23 AM

Eddie Guerrero is alive

6to1 09-20-2006 09:40 AM

angle could proble handle working for tna they only tape twice a month, an if they bring him in like sting have him on shelly cam for 6 month to get healed up then have him wrestle like scott stiener does mostly in tag matches.

WWE probably knew this would happen; they just didn't care.

If this weren't a business where people would shank their own mama for a push, I'd be pissed. But I'd have to be pissed at a lot of people for a lot of things if I was pissed at Angle.

Besides, the lighter schedule might be fine for him.

RP 09-20-2006 09:42 AM

And if he dies, think of all the publicity TNA gets. Win/win situation.

Destor 09-20-2006 09:46 AM

Plus RP will have some new material. Win/win/win.

Jaton 09-20-2006 09:55 AM

And the boards IQ will lower.

Win/win/win/lose

RP 09-20-2006 09:57 AM

Everyone gets a prize if i had it my way.

McLegend 09-20-2006 10:29 AM

I don't think it's Angle, becasue word in the street is that Angle has a 6 month no compete clause. No way would TNA hype his debut like this 4 or 5 months before he can even wrestle for another promotion.

I'm going with a two hour Monday time slot.

Destor 09-20-2006 10:35 AM

Monday? You want them to go under then?

If they haven't gone under yet they aren't going under anytime soon.

Destor 09-20-2006 01:00 PM

Yeah because WCW only had a mainstream presence for a year. Head-to-head with the WWE would crush them.
