Musical aquisition question (Poll on where your music comes from)
Poll coming in a minute.
I'm just curious. Note it's a multiple choice poll.
Stores (new) & iTunes
Music stores, new
P2P networks The internet, new I don't really buy music/other (please explain) Those are what I chose. The last one I put down because sometimes I jack music from my dad. He has so many albums, he doesn't mind one or two missing. I rarely buy albums used due to scratches and whatnot. |
I rarely buy albums period. I'm gonna pick one up on the interweb soon, because I'ma remaster it on CD as a gift for my dad, but otherwise...
Incidentally, this is primarily to satisfy my own curiosity. I was wondering how popular stores were compared to iTunes and just how many folks P2Pd and so on...It's kind of a hodge podge of curiosities. |
I actually meant used albums. I rarely buy albums in general due to being broke al the time. :D
I knew what you meant (The word used in there made sense, ya know). Just sayin'.
I usually buy albums off the internet, sometimes used off Amazon marketplace if I'm skint. I will occasionally buy from shops if there is a sale on, as places like HMV are usually way too expensive.
I dont get my music from iTunes or 'Pay to download' places. I either use limewire for rare tracks, and record shops (online and offline) to get music, mainly new, but sometimes I'll check the used/bargain bins to find it.
I usually buy cheap ones from Ebay, including cheap cd's of bands I've never tried before, that way if I don't like it I've only lost a couple of quid.
Although sometimes I do order from Play or summit, depends on what the band is and if it's their latest album where I know I'll be waiting a while for it to be cheap on Ebay. |
I buy Occasional C.D's and get music off of Ares and Limewire.
I buy albums from my fave artists, either new or used. I also have my music server going with a bunch of people and get it from there too.
Torrents
I buy a lot of CDs used. A couple stores around here with really good deals.
And use Limewire for a couple songs here and there and torrents for whole albums. |
Stores new mainly. Followed by iTunes (only so far used a gift voucher on there tho). Doh should have put internet new as well - presuming that means off Amazon and the like.
Yeah, it meant eTailers (amazon, Borders...Which I think is also really amazon), etc.
Besides what else I chose, I picked "p2p networks" but I don't use anything like Limewire and shit... I just download cds off a Rapidshare and Megaupload.

I mostly use Limewire, but if I can't find in there, or if its an artist I particularly want to support, I'll buy it on iTunes.
LimeWire.
Torrents, and if I really like it or it's a local artist I'll buy the CD.
I picked 3 different ones.
1. Music Store, New - I still like to buy the CD's of artists I already know I like. 2. iTunes - I used to get almost all of my music from iTunes (except Victory Records CDs and other labels who don't put their stuff up there) but after losing upwards of a $1000 library for the 2nd time due to their shitty program crashing my computer, I said fuck you, Apple, and switched to my current method... 3. The Internet, Used - I use Torrents to get all my albums now (except if it's an artist I like, see #1) |
Since when are torrents a music store?
That's the free music store.
it's on the internets, just use The Google Kane Knight
