So Cena's movie was #10 this week...

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/boxoffice/weekend/

According to Yahoo Movies.

This is better than the reports from the newsboard were predicting, and kind of surprising, all things considered.

So yeah.

Dave Youell 10-23-2006 06:07 PM

It's taken $12 mil now right?

It cost $15

So it's going to break even after DVD sales, not a total dissapointment, but not a total failure either

Plus there's the wroldwide market to pimp

Destor 10-23-2006 06:14 PM

Not as bad as the propaganda machine that is wrestling news boards made it out to be. Breaking even is an accomplishment from where I am sitting.

Champion of Europa 10-23-2006 06:15 PM

This is me expressing glee that The Departed will make over $100 million before it's done in the Top 10.

About 12.5 in two weeks.

Even considering the reduced views, it should make back that other 2.5 in the month.

Compared to what I thought it would do, this is phenomenal.

It's not great, but like you said, not a total failure.

So...Fifteen Bucks to make

Is there a difference here to voice your opinion on? I mean either way you saying that it wasn't bad. Just thought I would point that out.

Mr. Aristocrat 10-23-2006 06:50 PM

Anyone have any idea how much Cena was paid for this?

El Fangel 10-23-2006 06:53 PM

Reportingly 15 million.

Mr. Aristocrat 10-23-2006 06:56 PM

I know that was the film's total budget, but what did Cena make...

El Fangel 10-23-2006 07:24 PM

15 Million. What don't you understand, the movie cost 15 million, that was to hire Cena. The crew and everyone else didn't get paid.

Corkscrewed 10-23-2006 07:41 PM

Only HHH commands that sort of power... :shifty:

Was that ever disclosed?

Blitz 10-23-2006 08:06 PM

I thought the budget was 30 mil.

Bad jokes, marines look stupid and a bad film worse.

Well, assuming that's right:
  1. It's an action movie. Jokes tend to be corny.
  2. They're Marines. You have to be dumb to sign up to be essentially cannon fodder.
  3. I don't think any movie with Robert Patrick can really be called BAD.

McLegend 10-23-2006 11:12 PM

I thought the whole movie cost 33 million to make.

Mister Sinister 10-24-2006 08:52 AM

So Wait, are you telling me, there an chance See No Evil is going to gross more then this?

How did it gross? Is that based on the US market alone?

Well it was $15 to make, but when you consider all the publicity behind it after it was made, I guess after production it could be higher. But that's the first I've heard of it.

Apart from a bunch of big explosion effects I don't know what else the budget would of been on, don't think Robert Patrick costs over a million surely?

McLegend 10-24-2006 11:06 AM

Yeah I heard Production was $23 mil to make, and $10 mil for advertising.

Also about the Kane movie it probably well ended up grossing the same... I think. That didn't cost nearly as much money as the Cena movie though so you would see Kane's movie did alright.

Kane Knight 10-24-2006 11:46 AM

I have to laugh, too. I checked IMDB to see what it cost (Didn't see it), but saw some people on the forum complaining about the beginning of the movie. Apparently, Marines are so sensitive that if someone is wearing the wrong cap and salutes in the wrong order, it kills the whole "let's fellate the target practice guys" vibe.

Fox 10-24-2006 04:35 PM

My best friend's in the Marines. Hated this movie. Called Cena a "pussy."

We all had a good laugh.

So he was perfect for the role.

See No Evil was doing profit before it left theaters. The DVDs will essentially be all profit for the companies behind it.

Kane Knight 10-24-2006 10:08 PM

The question is how much it takes to break even (Sicne all the numbers seem to be hearsay) and how much the Marine makes before it leaves theaters.

In looking up the past few Raw ratings, I noticed Dave Scherer from Insider was also bashing the Marine, talking about how it wasn't playing to large crowds on its first weekend. I'm sorry, it's obvious he didn't like it, and even I think it could have been better, but when a movie is #6, any implication that the movie isn't playing to sizable crowds is just petty and stupid.

I'm not sure why everyone's going so far out of their way to make this movie a failure. Shouldn't Vince be able to do that on his own? :shifty:

It's not doing phenomenal, but the way people are panning it, you'd think it drew fifteen bucks at the box office...

Dave Youell 10-25-2006 08:26 AM

In percentages this movie has done a hell of alot better than films like Superman Returns

Mostly because it's 1/3 the length. :shifty:

El Fangel 10-25-2006 10:02 AM

Did anyone ever notice that in that movie Superman solves all his problems by lifting stuff? and thats sometimes he stuggles to lift a car, but doesn't struggle nearly as much when lifting an entire f'n continent.

Savio 10-25-2006 08:01 PM

KK is a closet cena mark

Savio 10-25-2006 08:02 PM

Superman returns was the worst movie I have ever watched in theaters

Actually, I think Cena is a solid worker and has a lot of charisma and talent on the mic. I just hate the boring ass character he plays 80% of the time.

FourFifty 10-26-2006 03:33 PM

The best part of The Marine is the <strike>rock candy joke</strike> trailer for the Borat movie.
