Least likely guy to win the World Title that you think will win the World Title

Okay so the idea here is who are the guys that you have a feeling will win the World Title who, if a reasonable person looked at it, are pretty unlikely to win the title? Like if we had said Rey like three years ago no-one would have reasonably said it will happen. But look how things turned out.

I think Paul London will be World Champion. I think he has the basic potential to win the World Title as a Rey Mysterio kind of underdog. It's so far-fetched but I just have a feeling that he will get a main event push someday. Look at HBK when he started, guys around then would never have said he would be World Champ. I'm by no means saying London has anything near the total package of Shawn Michaels. But I would put money on London being World Champion as an outside bet if bookies took money on pro-wrestling.

Your turn...

Mercury Bullet 10-30-2006 06:16 PM

Monty Brown...

Oh wait...

He actually fits the description of what the WWE wants in terms of championship material...

Avenger 10-30-2006 06:18 PM

lol I was actually going to say Monty, but it's a pretty obvious fact that Monty will be World Champion.

DominateR 10-30-2006 06:30 PM

eventually it will be http://www.wwe.com/content/media/tou.../29062/3471304 and possibly even http://www.wwe.com/content/media/ima...tal100x120.jpg(no not kristal)

Avenger 10-30-2006 06:37 PM

Lashley is obvious you really do not get the point of this topic.

DominateR 10-30-2006 06:44 PM

you said LEAST LIKELY, so how the hell do you figure Lashley's an obvious choice? Cuz he COULD win it at Mania, and MAYBE from Batista? the writers change Mania plans all the time leading up to it...THAT is obvious...

Dorkchop 10-30-2006 07:10 PM

This is very tough. JBL was one of those least likely guys. In fact I never would have even guessed he would have gotten anything more than a mid card singles push.

Paul London could be that guy. I can't really think of anyone else because a lot of guys right now in the WWE are basically being groomed for gold like Lashley and Carlito.

I can't think of anyone who hasn't already been said, but I'll also say Boogeyman.

El Fangel 10-30-2006 07:15 PM

Finlay, I think he may betray Booker T.

St. Jimmy 10-30-2006 07:46 PM

Regal. God, I hope.

Zeeboe 10-30-2006 07:51 PM

VAL VENIS!..........:'( :'( :'( He's still cool to me dammit! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Mr. Aristocrat 10-30-2006 07:54 PM

I have a gut feeling that someday Matt Striker will win it some day. I think his school teacher gimmick will be dropped by then, but in a few years he is going to be some egotistical jackass heel who is on RAW and wins the WWE Title. Bank it.

Hi Alienoid.

Nervous Ferret 10-30-2006 07:56 PM

The ECW zombie

KingofOldSchool 10-30-2006 07:57 PM

Most likely: Lashley
Least likely: Eddie Guerrero

He has at least another 2 or 3 reigns left inside of him. I mean shit, since his death he put Rey Mysterio on the Main Event scene and brought Chavo to upper mid carder. Once he gets into a fued with the ECW Zombie (NerF) he will be back in title contention.

Crippla 10-30-2006 08:03 PM

I think Chavo will be World Champion in the next year or so.

Least likely to be champ, and if we're talking about the World Title on Smackdown!, Funaki would be my guess. With Boogeyman a close second. However I would say he was rather close with those feuds with JBL and now King Booker.

One person I will be paying attention to is MVP.

true

Yashamaga 10-30-2006 09:25 PM

I'd say

Chavo
Finlay
Jeff Hardy
Test

Crippla 10-30-2006 09:27 PM

I don't see Jeff Hardy getting the belt anytime soon if at all.

Favre4Ever 10-30-2006 09:56 PM

Nitro or, god help us, Umaga?

Tb1 10-30-2006 09:57 PM

Carlito

Which is exactly the point of this thread.

Fox 10-30-2006 10:40 PM

I'd like to believe that Kevin Thorn will one day be the World Champion with his Vampire gimmick, in the same vein as The Undertaker before him.

I would love to see a new Gothic stable in one of the big two brands.

Vastardikai 10-30-2006 10:57 PM

Doug Basham [/Alienoid]

I think Finlay or Regal will one day. Finlay winning would seriously scream "Greatest Wrestling Comeback Ever." Regal, hell, he's probably the best wrestler NEVER to hold a World Championship right now.

AdrianM 10-31-2006 03:06 AM

Chavo
Finlay
Chris Benoit
Kenny (from SQ)
Maria (Womens champ)
Ric Flair (may have 1 final run left in him)
Johnny Nitro
Umaga

JH 10-31-2006 07:30 AM

johnny nitro

Avenger 10-31-2006 08:11 AM

OMG right this thread is just too complicated.

It is extremely reasonable to say that Johnny Nitro would win the World Title. I am talking about guys you would NEVER expect to win it, but you have a sneaking suspicion they will.

Nitro
Lashley
and
Chris Benoit (whoever the fuck said this is a tard)
DO NOT count!

Gulak 10-31-2006 08:15 AM

Me.

Avenger 10-31-2006 08:40 AM

thats more like it

Mercury Bullet 10-31-2006 11:17 AM

Monty Brown will debut by running in at 'Mania on the John Cena vs. Batista Champion vs. Champion Main Event and he will Pounce them both right out of the ring. Cena and Batista will be out cold on the outside and they will declare Monty the new Unified Champion.

Mercury Bullet 10-31-2006 11:18 AM

After thinking about that if Monty Brown ran out and pounced John Cena clear out of the ring I would become the biggest Monty Brown mark ever. Well, maybe the only, but biggest nonetheless.

JH 10-31-2006 01:22 PM

judy bagwell

what?
nobody expected her to win the wcw tag title either now did they

D Mac 10-31-2006 01:25 PM

K-FED!

Avenger 10-31-2006 02:30 PM

lol

M-A-G 10-31-2006 04:38 PM

Wait a sec...we're trying to find the guy who is least likely to win but will win it anyway? Wouldn't that make him the most likely of the guys least likely to win the title? This is making my head hurt.

Remind me to shoot myself when that happens, thank you.

Mr. Nerfect 10-31-2006 06:54 PM

This is a pretty sweet topic, dude. The point of it is to pick a guy that looks like he has no chance at winning the World Title, but you can someday see holding the belt. An example would have been JBL, who no one saw being World Champion in early 2004, but then a few months later...

You get the idea.

Paul London is a good pick. He seems to have a good figure about him these days. He's not huge, but with drug-testing and stuff, his physique looks pretty damn impressive these days. He's got a few Championship runs here and there, and when his stint with Brian Kendrick ends, I can see him getting the underdog push.

Brian Kendrick has a slightly smaller chance than Paul London, in my opinion, but I can see him becomming an arrogant prick, and getting a few solid main event programs. I wouldn't put money on him being World Champion, though.

Gregory Helms is one guy I can see getting the World Title at some point. He's been treated as a prodigy by JBL on commentary, and they seem to be trying to use the Cruiserweight Championship to get him over beyond the Division (if that makes sense). They jobbed him out to The Undertaker pretty quickly, but I can honestly see him getting a solid push to the top at some stage. Maybe with Ric Flair by his side.

Val Venis is another guy I can see just someday holding the gold. He won't be the WWE's top star, or anything, but I can see him getting the Bradshaw treatment, and one day just get the title as kind of a "thank you" reign. It really wouldn't surprise me to see the WWE just drop the porn star shtick, and just turn him into a slimey heel.

Joey Mercury is another name that sprung to my mind when I read this thread. Rumours have been saying there's not going to be much done with him, but he's truly an all-round better version of Johnny Nitro. In analogy format: Johnny Nitro is to Jeff Hardy, as Joey Mercury is to Matt Hardy. I really expect Joey Mercury to get a solid push to the top at some stage.

I'd love to see William Regal get the World Title, as I would Matt Hardy, but I doubt it's going to happen.

Avenger 10-31-2006 07:05 PM

Thanks Alienoid. I like the whole Gregory Helms idea, but I am especially intrigued by the Val Venis idea. Now I can definately see that happening. I mean just because he has had a shitty pornstar gimmick for his whole career does not mean that he cannot hold the title. I mean look at some of the gimmicks JBL had. Who ever saw an APA member winning the World Title?

Thanks for understanding the topic. I thought this might spark some pretty interesting debate but unfortunately when you come up with something thought provoking and original in the wrestling forum half the 12 year olds here have trouble getting their heads around it.
