Casino Royale

Saw this today, very very good Bond film, best since Goldeneye.
Danile Craig did a fantastic job as Bond.

Thoughts?

Boondock Saint 11-16-2006 05:23 PM

Can't waitttttttttttttttt.

ct2k 11-16-2006 05:32 PM

Gotta say for the first time since Goldeneye I'm looking forward to a Bond film.

Also Daniel Craig is from my hometown:D

ct2k 11-16-2006 05:32 PM

Not that you'd know from his shockingly proper accent:rant::love:

DrA 11-16-2006 06:38 PM

I am hoping this movie has a load of intense poker playing action, to be honest with you.

ClockShot 11-16-2006 08:13 PM

I'd see it if Pierce Brosnan was playing Bond. As he should be.

Buzzkill 11-16-2006 08:15 PM

BOND SLOW PLAYS THE ACES, LE CHIFFRE IS RIGHT WHERE HE WANTS HIM.

Blitz 11-16-2006 08:16 PM

lol Buzzkill.

But yeah, looks pretty hot.

Champion of Europa 11-17-2006 01:47 AM

This is seriously one of the best action movies this year, and I'm not even a Bond fan. The dialogue in some parts is hilarious and awesome shit. And Bond has such a kick ass attitude.

Mr. Nerfect 11-17-2006 01:54 AM

I've only heard good things about this movie. Hopefully it re-launches Bond to that level of respectability it once had.

mitchables 11-17-2006 09:12 AM

It's released on the 7th of December here, I can't wait. It should be excellent.

yianni 11-17-2006 09:40 AM

I agree Mitchell, I'm looking forward to watching it as well.

Lord-Of-Darkness 11-17-2006 11:24 AM

I've got tickets booked for tomorrow night. Really hyped. Let you all know what I think :y:

Nervous Ferret 11-17-2006 08:20 PM

We're here with Don Everest known to the poker world as "The Matador" for his ability to lure the young bulls into the ring and cut them down.

I loved Tilt.

Nervous Ferret 11-17-2006 08:26 PM

Quite frankly they played that commercial so much it will be etched in my mind forever. I remember watching it and enjoying it, but I never really got "into" it or anything.

Blitz 11-18-2006 01:12 AM

Pretty good movie. My knowledge of Bond is limited entirely to Pierce Brosnan, but Daniel Craig was very good.

Bond: Vodka Martini.
Bartender: Shaken or stirred?
Bond: Do I look like I give a damn?

My favorite part was when he busted Phil Helmuth. Honestly, looking back, Don Everest was the cheesiest poker player ever.

dablackguy 11-18-2006 02:21 AM

I was extremely skeptical regard Craig before the movie. I won't say he made a believer out of me, but he played his role well. He is an excellent Bond as the young and reckless character. However, I can't really see him being the older, mature, more laid back Bond. So as far as that goes, I think he's going to have a limited life as Bond.

I'm a little offended at all these people calling him the best Bond, which is true only if you know nothing about Bond. Connery was the best Bond and in my opinion is followed by Brosnan who will be known as the first modern Bond. I think Craig's niche with the bond character will be portraying him in a much more athletic and action packed capacity.

D Mac 11-18-2006 04:31 AM

Timothy Dalton was the best Bond. :shifty:

Boondock Saint 11-18-2006 10:57 AM

Good stuff. Not perfect but the best since Goldeneye, certainly. Craig was good. More brutal.

YOUR Hero 11-18-2006 02:04 PM

It looks better than any of the other Bond movies that have been released in quite awhile.

ct2k 11-18-2006 02:11 PM

I still can't understand why so many people were so hostile to both Daniel Craig and making Casino Royale again bearing in mind Die Another Day was TERRIBLE and the original Casino Royale was a SPOOF starring David Niven and PETER SELLERS...Legendary as both may be:D

D Mac 11-18-2006 02:44 PM

Die Another Day wasn't that bad.

Boondock Saint 11-18-2006 03:13 PM

Die Another Day was bad. Invisible car? Surfing?

Fignuts 11-19-2006 12:23 AM

Die another day was bad if you took it too seriously. You can enjoy it more if you take it for what it is. And it was still better than The world id not enough.

But holy shit, this was a good bond movie. Why is everyone restricting praise by only comparing it with the last few movies. IMO, this is one of the best bond films of ALL TIME. Only thing that holds it back is the pacing loses its flow towards the end, and the plot gets a little messy.

Evil Vito 11-19-2006 12:02 PM

This was a fucking great film. Craig did a fantastic job.

Torture scene was painful to watch :o

Lord-Of-Darkness 11-19-2006 01:55 PM

I saw this last night, and thought it was excellent. A really enjoyable movie.

But it was the 1st Bond movie I've ever seen.

So I was hoping to get the opinions of people on what was the best Bond to date?

My personal favorite is The Spy who loved me

Pretty much the general consensus is that Goldfinger is the best ever though.

Cooler Tom Schuler 11-19-2006 03:35 PM

I saw this movie last night, and I was very impressed. I would probably say it's one of the best movies I've seen in the last couple years.

Boondock Saint 11-19-2006 04:44 PM

My personal favorite Bonds are From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights, and Goldeneye.

ClockShot 11-19-2006 07:55 PM

Dr. No, You only Live Twice, Goldeneye, Goldfinger, Thunderball, Diamonds are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun.

Stickman 11-20-2006 02:40 PM

Bond movies are over rated and over hyped but this was one of the better ones.

The Greater Power 11-20-2006 07:24 PM

I didn't mind it, but at 2.5 hours, it probably could have been a bit shorter
