Wrestlemania 21 main event revealed

WM 21 Main-Event Revealed, More HHH Politics Backstage?
Story By: Ben Johnson
February 13, 2004

Triple H is reportedly pushing for a quick end to his feud with Benoit, while also politicking to have Edge return to RAW after WrestleMania. HHH is very interested in a program with Edge after the big March PPV.

It was reported that HHH was very excited about the program with Benoit, since he felt they could have some good matches, so there is no word on why HHH is looking for such a quick close to the feud.

-- On the subject of Triple H, WWE's long-term plan is for Brock Lesnar vs. HHH at WrestleMania XXI.

Interesting match. But plans always change so I wont hold my breath

Loose Cannon 02-13-2004 08:33 PM

Let's just get through Wrestlemania 20 first

This would explain the involvement of Michaels and the Superkick to Benoit. Benoit's feud may end up being more with Michaels, than the Game at all. Interesting, wonder what's going to happen. The Edge part was brought up already like twice though.

Link?

^Where did you get this from?

Bad move for HHH. Meanwhile the Benoit-HHH feud is still fresh, they should exploit it and have Trips vs Benoit at WMXX, probably with Shawn Michaels as referee. Then maybe HBK turns on Benoit, but Benoit wins the title anyway and feuds with HBK for the title. Then, Trips can feud with Edge for all he wants.

WRESTLE MANIA XXX revealed:

Brock lesnar in his last match against (some guy named) Ron "B.A.M.N." Goodmen.

I did read reports that Vince doesn't want to have Edge return at WM because he would get lost in the shuffle because of the returns of the Undertaker,Mick Foley and the Rock.

Expect Edge to appear on Raw or Smackdown after the PPV.

I also doubt Vince would let Edge get buried since Edge is 1 of his guys.Vince loves pushing guys he help create.

Benoit VS HBK and Edge VS HHH at Backlash. What a treat that would be for the canadian fans in Edmonton. And then have Jericho VS Randy Orton for the IC title.Canadian crowds are the best but that kind of Card would blow the roof off of the place.

I Throught Next Year Wrestlemania Main Event was going to be Brock Lesnar v. The Millions, maybe even Billions who use the Internet in a Gauntlet Match?

I'm not trying to get too far ahead of myself, but do you know what I would love to see? Orton and Cena each respectively are built as the franchise players of their respective shows this year. They both win the title at or around WM XXI, become huge stars during that year, and have a huge interbrand match at WM XXII, Orton vs. Cena. That would be golden.

a little too early to talk about Mania XXI

 Yeah he can drop in to his bodybag after he drops his title.

The CyNick 02-14-2004 04:16 PM

Looking ahead, I would book Austin vs Lesnar and have Lesnar go over.

I would do HHH (as a face) vs Orton for the RAW title

Cena vs Angle for the SD title

But obviously its too hard to look that far into the future with any accuracy.

Actually, back in the day the WWE used to have the main event for the next year's Mania mapped out a year in advance. Its a little thing called long term booking, I understand some younger fans may not understand the concept because the new style WWE is to book matches a week before the PPV, but the old formula is better for making money. I mean we've seen how much better the build and thus the TV has been leading to Mania, which was basically booked in early November. Iimagine how good the TV would be if they actually had a plan for the whole year instead of flying by the seat of their pants and booking week to week.

Spoiler:

Backup plan if HHH vs Lesnar doesn't work would be HHH vs Ultimate Warrior.

Actually, I'd love to see that just for comedic effect.

VERY true. Long term booking was really effective. It was pretty clear as to who would be feuding who, which I think, kept people interested.
