Kane

Now here is a brilliant worker.

Kane is the one guy I never got bored of during the Attitude era and beyond.

One of the best big guys of all-time IMO.

This guy has gone through some radical character changes, he's had some very inconsistent backstory and has been put in some shitty angles but has managed to come out of it all looking pretty damn good.

He's nearing retirement now as it has been well documented in the last few years and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledged how much I have enjoyed Kane as a performer in the time that I have been a wrestling fan.

In the ring he is DAMN solid. Not the greatest wrestler of all-time, very few of his matches will be remembered as five stars. But this guy has been DAMN solid.

Glen Jacobs had to pretty much stay in character wherever he went with the WWE for a good few years and still does it well. He portrayed that Kane character perfectly.

Most of all I notice that he is still really over with the fans. There is some kind of undying respect the crowd will have for Kane. He always elicits a huge pop and will this could be down to his pyro or his music I like to put it down to how good of a worker Glen Jacobs is, how well he potrayed that character and in doing so managed to get the fans to relate to him and feel such empathy for him.

One of the great guys at portraying a tweener, he always had the right moderation between being a badass and popping the crowd by doing something awesome.

He's been in some truly memorable feuds, most notable of all the neverending angle between himself and Undertaker. His program with DX/Corporation springs to mind.

Many will never forget his Wrestlemania 14 showing. An awesome match. If not just for the spectacle of it.

Here's to Kane.

M-A-G 11-30-2006 05:53 PM

He's definitely one of my favorite big men. Nice to see how being a company guy can get you stuck in some pretty stupid situations, though.

Kane Knight 11-30-2006 05:54 PM

You never got tired of him because he's the one worker who never really got a win worth noting. ;)

M-A-G 11-30-2006 05:55 PM

Remember that time when he jobbed to Undertaker? Oh, man, that was classic.

Avenger 11-30-2006 05:56 PM

Such a loyal guy to WWE and never got himself into the headlines on the internet news sites etc.

He should've been rewarded with a dominating title run.

KK, not for want of deserving one though.

Disturbed316 11-30-2006 06:04 PM

You mean his one day run wasn't enough?

M-A-G 11-30-2006 06:05 PM

Beggars can't be choosers.

Jeritron 11-30-2006 06:20 PM

Kane should have gone over HHH in 02 for the world title, instead he was buried back down and has had momentary stints in the main event. He hasn't recovered since, but I dont think its ever too late for them to book him as a dominant champion.
Kane has this unique, unexplainable ability to rebound and stay over. No matter how bad he's buried or jobbed out he manages to keep his aura about him.

Splaya 11-30-2006 06:25 PM

Does anyone have or can you find the clip of Kane coming back to beat down the Un-Americans before they burned the American flag on Raw. I want the whole clip where it does his return promo, and then his actual pyro goes off. I remember the pop was insane.

Disturbed316 11-30-2006 06:26 PM

Yes, I have that video clip, and the pop was HUGE.

M-A-G 11-30-2006 06:26 PM

Would've been funny as hell if his pyro had accidentally lit the flag.

Disturbed316 11-30-2006 06:29 PM

For some stupid reason he talks and does a spin-a-roonie at the end :wtf:

Jeritron 11-30-2006 06:30 PM

If he won the world belt from HHH he would have been World Champ, IC champ, and solitary Tag Champs. Even if he only held the belt into the Elimination Chamber or dropped it before then to HHH, it still would have been an enourmous accomplishment and the defining moment of his career.

Another good Kane beat down.

McLegend 11-30-2006 06:52 PM

He is terrible.

Disturbed316 11-30-2006 06:54 PM

97 Masked Kane > every other Kane

Caged Heat18 11-30-2006 07:06 PM

I respect him, but I was never a fan of his.

Disturbed can you either post it or send it to me?

Kane Knight 11-30-2006 08:08 PM

Kane is good, it's just that his primary appeal is the fact that he's never really had important wins.

Dorkchop 11-30-2006 08:41 PM

Kane's one of my all time favorite wrestlers. He's solid in the ring and can actually put on some good matches.

I don't like how he's been a stepping stone for years though. I like that he will put over younger talent, I just wish he didn't have to do it so often.

Hopefully he'll have a title reign before he retires.

Nowhere Man 11-30-2006 08:48 PM

What I always found cool about Kane is that, no matter what stupid shit WWE creative makes him do, he somehow still stays over. Katie Vick? Barbecuing JR? Attacking Chris Benoit because he was hot for Lita (huh???)? Getting buried by Undertaker at least twice a year? And yet he still gets huge reactions, and still comes off like a threat. It's like he really is indestructible.

PullMyFinger 11-30-2006 09:05 PM

Kane used to be one of my favorites back in the Attitude Era...after 2001 and 2002 tho...he got completely buried. Every match he wrestles now, I know he will lose.

Probably one of the best Jobbers on TV these days. Quality at what he does.

jindrak 12-01-2006 12:02 AM

Kane was on the radio the other day to promote his appearance at FYE.

It wasn't a kayfabe interview (believe it or not), and Kane really came out as a funny, entertaining, and overall cool guy.

El Fangel 12-01-2006 12:06 AM

He is one of the most enjoyable wrestlers I have seen, despite being buried and mis-used, he always works hard, and puts on a good show.

Mr. Nerfect 12-01-2006 02:56 AM

Kane is the reason I watch wrestling. My cousin introduced me to the WWE in late-2000, just after the Armageddon PPV. I was instantly interested in the Kane character, and the first PPV I experienced was the 2001 Royal Rumble.

If Kane had not been so dominant in the match, and risen above guys like The Rock, The Undertaker, Rikishi (who was actually pretty credible to a mark back then), etc., my fascination with the WWE may have just been a temporary phase.

I hope Kane breaks his own record, and eliminates the most people in Rumble history, again. That will be awesome. Add that on top of another World Title reign, and maybe some US and WWE Tag Team Title reigns, and I think the guy would be ready to retire.

The WWE should put him over MVP at Armageddon, without a doubt. Nothing against Porter, I quite like him, but Kane is a veteran, and deserves to be a main event player. MVP debuted, what? A few months ago?

Rammsteinmad 12-01-2006 03:32 AM

Every time there's a Kane thread I bring this up.

I loved him in 2003 when he unmasked. The way he was portrayed as a geniune monster was crazy! The way he took numerous chair shots from Shane McMahon, and then fell off the stage, only to sit up straight away!

The Tombstone on Linda. Throwing RVD through the wall. Setting JR on fire. Electrocuting Shane McMahon. He was on a mad rampage.

And then they screwed up. :nono:

El Fangel 12-01-2006 04:39 AM

I Have watched 3 videos that were posted in the last few days.

Jericho "winning the title"
Undertaker JD Return
Kane Return

All made me remember the good old days where it was always 168 hours until the next show, instead of thank god thats over for the week, what happened.

Skippord 12-01-2006 07:23 AM

I love Kane hes probably my favorite wrestler of all time.

.44 Magdalene 12-01-2006 10:02 AM

I, too, must confess to being a sad Kane mark.

Stickman 12-01-2006 03:15 PM

Remember when it was a punishment to face Kane? Remember when it was still a punishment to face Kane but nobody cared?

Avenger 12-01-2006 03:23 PM

shut up

Kane Knight 12-01-2006 04:13 PM

Remember when Kane was dating Torrie Wilson, and we were expected to believe that someone actually found a psychotic burn victim endearing?

M-A-G 12-01-2006 05:07 PM

I think you mean Tori from D-X.

jindrak 12-01-2006 05:37 PM

Kane and X-Pac were a pretty sweet tag team back in the dayl

Kane Knight 12-01-2006 06:53 PM

Sorry. Iwas thinking Tori, but crossed the two in my mind.

Mr. Nerfect 12-02-2006 01:27 AM

Well, Kane will probably defeat MVP at Armageddon, so that is something. Maybe then we'll see Kane do well in the Royal Rumble Match. I really don't think there is anyone better to main event WrestleMania. It makes me a little sad Kane's never gotten that chance. Especially now there are like three main events every year.

Fuck Batista vs. The Undertaker, make the main event King Booker vs. Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship.
