Flair's Gone Indefinitely... Maybe Permanently, but Prolly Not Really

http://www.wrestleview.com/news2006/1165100511.shtml

The storyline of Edge and Randy Orton beating down a bloody Ric Flair on Monday Night Raw last week was an angle designed to write Flair off of WWE TV indefinitely.

Close friends of Flair have stated that the finalization of his divorce will be preoccupying him in the coming months and is one of the reasons why WWE gave him some time off from the road. His situation could go so far that his legal proceedings dividing his assets could end up on Court TV.

As I'm sure many noticed watching Raw this past Monday night, Flair became very emotional after tagging with Triple H and Shawn Michaels against The Spirit Squad. Both Triple H and Michaels consoled Flair in the ring after the match. Flair has been known to never hide his emotions on TV during his career. After viewing the segment and understanding his current personal situation, Monday's show has been described as a symbolic end of a certain part of his career and the start of a personal chapter that he is hoping to wrap up very quickly.

That explains that random scene on RAW. You think that was really his last hurrah in the ring for the WWE? The guy is getting up there, and I'd rather he remain a character rather than a wrestler. He'd be a fantastic manager, IMO.

Avenger 12-03-2006 09:28 AM

I'll personally never get tired of seeing Flair on TV. m

RP 12-03-2006 10:01 AM

The guy is old. Its been time for like 3 years now. His tit flop everywhere. Its pretty disgusting. I'd love to see him as just a mouth peice, but i dont need to see him in any more ladder matches. Sorry Ric. I moved on. Its time for you to do the same.

Kane Knight 12-03-2006 10:09 AM

It's his last run.

But don't worry, he'll get another last run, another final moment, etc.

RP 12-03-2006 10:18 AM

Didnt Flair have like 4 final moments in WCW?

Pepsi Man 12-03-2006 10:32 AM

A story I read on this very same subject called this time Flair will get off of TV to deal with his divorce proceedings "a short time". Just goes to show you that everyone and their dog on the internet thinks they know what's going on backstage.

Skippord 12-03-2006 11:18 AM

God I hope so

That's it! I'm done. I'm checking out. The quality is shit at best, and now my wrestling god maybe gone. Yeah I'm done watching RAW. I guess that means I'm down to ECW (which I only watch for Punk) and some TNA (which I only sometimes catch and thats only because it's on twice a week).

Chavo Classic 12-03-2006 01:15 PM

Welcome to club tovo. You'll feel right at home.

Kane Knight 12-03-2006 01:39 PM

The One is gay for Punk.

Chavo Classic 12-03-2006 02:33 PM

The One = CM Pink

Jordan 12-03-2006 02:52 PM

I don't care man, I will watch Flair wrestle til his tits his the floor.

Corkscrewed 12-03-2006 02:56 PM

But his tits hit the floor in every match when he does his Flair Flop... :?:

Azriel 12-03-2006 04:47 PM

Flair needs to just be a manager. He's awesome on the mic. Maybe just do an exhibition match or two at Mania, but that's it. Hopefully, he can get this ordeal out of the way quickly. Divorces are never pretty.

If that was the last of The Nature Boy we'll see in the ring, then I hope Orton and Edge get hardcore over. I'd like to see Orton and Edge become the biggest heels in the industry, and keep them as the biggest heels for a while. Within the next two or three years I'd like to see Orton and Edge become solid main eventers, and then see one of them turn on the other one to start a fued that would rival Steve Austin and The Rock.
Why? Because then Ric Flair could say that he put over the future of the industry the last time he was in the ring.

Mr. Nerfect 12-03-2006 06:49 PM

Yeah, if Ric Flair returns, I'd want it to be as a manager. The guy still has that legendary class about him when he's in a suit. When he's wrestling...:-\

I still maintain that he'd be a perfect fit for Charlie Haas.

Afterlife 12-04-2006 06:29 AM

You guys are nuts. The only thing more enraging about Flair than the fact that he takes time away from new talent, is his voice. If he's a manager, that means I have to hear him. And see him. And the best part of RAW will now be that I don't have to do either of those!

I hope the guy gets his life in order, but please, for the love of all things good and wrestling, stay the hell off tv!

Kane Knight 12-04-2006 09:10 AM

Someone...Not...Mindlessly saying "Flair is the man...?"

This does not compute.

Afterlife 12-04-2006 09:15 AM

You know me. I'm not one for bandwagons.

addy2hotty 12-04-2006 09:55 AM

Flair is a legend, but he should call it a day in the ring. His owner of Raw role a few years ago was perfect for him. He should get back to something like that.

TerranRich 12-04-2006 10:27 AM

Seriously, it's been time for Flair to retire since 2002 when he was co-owner of WWE. He should've just stayed as a manager/mouthpiece, like he was for Evolution as well. No wrestling, just mentoring and managing.

Kane Knight 12-04-2006 10:30 AM

He should get back to pushing up daisies, honestly. What, you didn't know he was clinically dead for 2 years before WWE re-signed him?

I wish I could look at him like most of you do, with the perspective (And IQ) of a 5 year old, but honestly, the guy sucks on the mic these days. He can't even WOOOOO without getting winded. He's a sad charicature of himself, and really makes me ashamed to watch wrestling.

Just like DX 2016 will...If I can even bring myself to watch by then.

Afterlife 12-05-2006 02:58 AM

I have never liked Flair. I don't see what there ever was to enjoy about him, and the longer he's around, the more I detest not only him but those who prolong the displeasure.

My hatred has a name, and it is Afterlife.

See, I did like Flair. but every time this saggy old senile fuck gets into the ring, I remember a little less of Ric Flair, and a little more of Drebben McMoobs over there.

Jaton 12-05-2006 12:59 PM

Afterlife, you used to be cool man. :(

TerranRich 12-05-2006 01:12 PM

I loved Flair in his prime. Not now.

Afterlife 12-05-2006 03:29 PM

 Holy shit. It seems my corner of the room just dropped about thirty degrees. :-\

Sorry to disappoint ya, fellas. The old man just doesn't...y'know...do it for me.

At least we now know the answer to "which is hated more--The guy who wants flair to die or the guy who just never liked him."

Just remember folks...You can get by as long as you praise Cesar before you bury him...

Destor 12-05-2006 03:56 PM

May I ask you this Afterlife: when did you start watching?

V 12-05-2006 04:00 PM

who's ric flair?

Caged Heat18 12-05-2006 04:02 PM

I hope Flair can fix things up, and come back as a manager off a bunch of young guys, or guys who are having trouble getting established, such as a Shelton Benjamin or Charlie Haas. I don't want to see him wrestle anymore, and tarnish his legacy.

Destor 12-05-2006 04:06 PM

Taking bumps off ladders 25 years past your prime wont tarnish your legacy. Just look at Terry Funk, Abdullah the Butcher, or The Sheik.

I started really watching around 97/98. Tru, I was not around for Flair's peak between the years of 8 to 1989, but I've looked back; I've tried to understand this...hold he has on people. And I just can't get it.

TerranRich 12-05-2006 05:03 PM

See, even having started watching wrestling a few years before his first appearance in the WWF, I still understand the flair of Flair.
