The Splaya heel turn |
Why'd they show a Y2J Highlight?
|
Haven't they shown highlights of guys that don't work for WWE anymore in recent weeks?
|
Mideon?
|
I'm predicting in the few weeks after Wrestlemania. Maybe Backlash.
And hopefully out of goddamn nowhere. Is Cena making another movie? If Orton and Cena are fueding for the belt at mania, it'd be nice to see Orton win the belt and then take out Cena for a while and him take some time off for a goddamn change. then Jericho comes in and fueds with him for the title or somethin |
Jericho isn't coming back, I wan't him to but he won't
|
Jericho is too busy getting his ass kicked on Celebrity Duets and getting his talk show canceled to bother coming back.
|
Jericho won't come back. sorry.
He's much more likely to appear on TNA... which unfortunately means having to watch Impact |
haha how skeptical. I'm sorry to say it but Jericho can't exactly be Hulk Hogan rich, hes young, hes healthy and himself and friends have expressed that he'd like to return to the ring sometime.
Add to that the fact that he said he'd prefer to only ever work with WWE (where hes over and not being held back to the extent Christian or Rhyno) Plus WWE pays more money, and gets him more exposure, and is the only way up for him. I'm sorry but saying "He won't ever come back and if he does it will be to TNA" is just your own personal wishful thinking and/or skepticism of his return, it has no basis in logic or evidence. |

Its true. I didn't say he wasn't being held back at all. Most of us will agree Jericho could be more than he was. Nonetheless, he was a champion, headlined wrestlemanias and had creative freedom and was well used. Moreso than a disgruntled Rhyno or Christian who weren't getting ahead and weren't gonna.
|
Yeah people say Jericho was held back but if you look at all of his accomplishments he's achieved than enough to get into the Hall of Fame. Very successful career, just because they wanted him to do more they cant be happy.
|
I'll be the first to say Jericho should have been put over as the next big thing earlier and reach bigger heights, but thats because I'm a Jericho mark and believe he could have been more.
However its entirely wrong to say he was buried the way Christian and Rhyno or whoever were. Hes a former champion, first ever Undisputed champion, has main evented a Wrestlemania, had that huge match with Shawn Michaels, was a mainstay of the main event picture and always used in high profile matches. He held the intercontinental title a record 7 times and is the 3rd of only 6 grand slam champions. He never missed a Raw or PPV in his time with the company and was always a part of meaningful segments and fueds, allowed to be enourmously entertaining. He was never the Rock or Austin, but hes one of the all time great stars in the companies history. |
Not to mention of the 6 superstars to become Grand Slam champions, he did it in the shortest period of time. It only took him 2 years to climb up the preverbial ladder that this accomplishment represents. It took years for Triple H and Shawn to reach that level.
|
Chris Jericho was the most held-back wrestler of all time IMO, despite his accomplishments. Triple H was jealous of him. Shawn Michaels was jealous of him, The Rock was jealous of him, Austin was jealous of him. 7 IC titles doesn't mean shit sadly, considering fools like Batista never even held the title and have had more of a push than he ever had. I will never forgive them for the way they booked his UT run. Bastards every one of the WWE writers. Dogs and Stephanie McMahon is all anyone can remember.
/Jericho markism Seriously though, Jericho, on what he acheived will be in the HoF eventually. As the son he always wanted, I'm happy with what he acheived. He could have been an all-time great in his peers' eyes, but he befell the monster that was Trips. Of all the talk of his awfully booked UT run, I will say this, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen when he walked a dog carrying two title bets over his shoulders. On a personal note, I shall leave you with this comment that Y2J made on his debut in 1999, and how well it relates to now. 'Welcome to Raw is Jericho! And I am the new Millennium for the World Wrestling Federation. Well, for those of you who don't know me, I am Chris Jericho, your new hero. Your party-host, and most importantly, the most charismatic showman to enter your living rooms via a television screen. Now when you think of the new millennium, you think of an event so gigantic that it changes the course of history. You think of a dawning of a new era. In this case, the dawning of a new era in the WWF....thank you, thank you. And a new era is what this once proud and profitable company sorely needs. Chris Jericho has come to save the WWF! You couldn't care less about every single idiot in that dressing room, and espeically this idiot in the centre of the ring. You people have been led to believe that mediocrity is excellence...uh uh, Jericho is excellence. And now, for the first time in WWF history, you have a man who can entertain you. You have a man who is good enough for you. You have a man who can make you jump up off your chairs, raise your filthy fat little hands in the air and scream 'Go Jericho Go, Go Jericho Go, Go Jericho Go!'...thank you. The new millennium has arrived in the WWF. And now that the Y2J problem is here, this company, from the front office idiots to all the amateurs in the dressing room - including this one - to everybody watching tonight will never, e-e-e-ever be the same again.' How true. |
Most held back EVER!?! Nah not even close. The most prolific IC champ, unified the WCW and WWF titles, Grand Slam Champ, plus a WM ME. Nah not quite. Ted Dibiasie, Roddy Piper, Tully Blanchard, Owen Hart, or Jake Roberts just to name a FEW the out rank him. These guys got the short end. All ME material, yet none held the big one even once. (Except Piper, but they gave the WCW title to ANYBODY.) Jericho though maybe he should have been more, still accomplished a lot more than the people who came before him can say. I agree Jericho shouldn't of played second fiddle to steph during the WM angle, but one storyline doesn't ruin his career or qualify him to the most misused guy ever.
Ted Dibiase- In his early career he was winning belts left and right. The sky was the limit for this guy. Pre-WWF he had beaten Sgt.Slaughter, Dick Murdoch (who he also won the NWA United Sates Tag Titles with,) Jerry Lawler, JYD, Mr. Olympia, not to mention spending a lot of time in AJPW and he got serious pushes everywhere he went. Then he goes to the WWF. He gets a serious push there as well. Until he ran into Hogan (I'm sure you know this story.) The Million Dollar Man set his eyes on the WWF Heavyweight title, and of course Hogan wouldn't job to this massively over guy, so Dibiase jobs, then he offers to purchase the belt from Hulk. Hogan refused so Dibiase enlisted Andre the Giant to help him. Andre defeated Hulk Hogan in one of the most controversial title changes in wrestling history, and The Giant did exactly what he said he would and immediately delivered the championship belt to Ted Dibiase. Yay, Dibiase has won the title in a well thought out story line to get around Hogans inability to job, BUT WAIT! Ted Diabase's title reign would be short-lived, as WWF President Jack Tunney stripped him and ordered a Tournament, in the process not recognizing his victory at all. It comes down to Dibiase and Savage and it looks like this story line is going to finally pan out for the Million Dollar Man, BUT NO! Savage wins. He then goes on to hold the belt for the next 365 when he then looses to Hogan. I smell a conspiracy. It was always about Hogan, Dibiase should've won there, but he was royally fucked. A tournament that was designed because of his actions, so he can get the title with out having Hogan job to him, somehow becomes all about Hogan AGAIN. Great 2 1/2 years wasted right there. After that he never really got the steam back. A few tag title reigns manager/leader of a stable of useless gimmicks. But that's it. One of the most talented Technical wrestlers of all time COMPLETELY wasted so that Hogan can have the spotlight. Jericho still sound like he's the worst? Roddy Piper-This man lit the NWA on fire. He quickly became the most over heel in North America save Ric Flair. He one title after title, but when he hit the WWE, what happened? Hulk Hogan. He wouldn't touch gold again, despite making Hogan to a large degree, until he won the IC title in 92. 90 fuckn 2. I could go on a ten page rant about how Piper was misused, but I think that fact can stand by itself. 1984-1992. WHAT. THE. FUCK. Not even a "hey, you're the goods so here's the tag titles." Nothing. Owen Hart-Unlike the others he wasn't that good starting out. He was passable, but nothing worthy of title contention. But it was when he started his feud with Bret that they really missed out. If only it were a hot shot and gave it to Owen for a month it would have been deserved. Almost a year of feuding for Owen to gain nothing is pathetic. Then in 1997 Owen breaks Austins neck. When Austin returns they trade the title but nothing comes of it. The there's Montreal, Brets gone to WCW and Owen is unhappy. Austin is heading to the ME. WHY WASN'T OWEN FOLLOWING AUSTIN RIGHT ALONG? All the cards were there for a serious ME feud between the two, but nothing. And before long Owen is the Blue Blazer again (a failed gimmick 10 years earlier,) talk about poor use. Jake Roberts- Now this guy might have caused some of his own problems, but not all. Everywhere in the world he went up to the WWE he had held gold. But after the same could not be said. Jake spent 6 years with the WWF and never held any gold despite being one of their top draws. Chris Jericho- Most Prolific IC champion (7 times.) Unified the WCW and WWF titles. Grand Slam Champion. ME Wrestle Mania. Yeah, that guy got held back. |
'/Jericho markism'
I agree Destor, hence my 'seriously though' bit. Jericho has acheived more than many have have or will. You are way right about DiBiase. It's sad to read in print what that man was not allowed to achieve. Owen, I think, would have had a big WWE title run a year or so along the line had he not passed away. |
Apparently Owen was set to retire with in a year. Don't really know though. My point was his opportunity was there already.
Also I new you weren't being totally serious, but all the time Jericho marks float around saying how Jericho was SOOOOOOOO misused when it simply isn't the case, I had to take my oportunity to prove a point. Could he have been better handled, of course. There's few who I could say were handled perfectly anywhere, but they guy got some seriously impressive achievements. I would like to point out something I find really cool: WM16 Jericho wins the European title. WM17 Jericho is the IC champ. WM18 Jericho is in the ME as WWE champion. Pretty sweet. Also the two guys who Jericho wrestled at WM16 went on to ME the two following years. Angle at WM19, and Benoit at WM20. Pretty cool. |
