Jeff Hackett retired.

That vertigo stuff has forced him out of the game. Wow, I figured he'd get that sorted out, I didn't realize it was 'that' serious.

samichna 02-15-2004 12:06 AM

No offense to him or to anybody, but vertigo is kinda funny.

Yashamaga 02-15-2004 12:29 AM

that wasn't really why he retired

YOUR Hero 02-15-2004 12:33 AM

ok Yash, tell us why he retired.

Yashamaga 02-15-2004 12:37 AM

Because he was pressured into it by the Flyers.

he is now the #3, maybe #4 goalie on that team. He doesn't want to be in the minors anyway.

YOUR Hero 02-15-2004 12:41 AM

No Yash, he hasn't been able to beat vertigo. Hackett has been playing in the NHL ever since he was 19. Ever since 1987. He's always been a backup, always unlucky in a sense to be playing with whoever at a time when they had a better goalie. Hackett still has the desire, but he is injured, much like a concussion, it's goofed up his head.

YOUR Hero 02-15-2004 12:44 AM

If you go back and look, he was playing well, playing real well. Then started to slump. He said he was feeling sorta tired, a bit sick. He had an major episode at home one night that prompted a hospital trip and tests. He sat back and thought about when he started feeling ill and slumping it all fit. It hasn't gotten better.

Yashamaga 02-15-2004 12:47 AM

well whatever, he still would be a minor league goalie and that had a big part in his retirement

road doggy dogg 02-15-2004 01:29 AM

Uh wtf? That's why he retired, Yash. The whole "possibly going to the minors" was BECAUSE of the vertigo. If he wasn't injured, he wouldn't have to worry about being a #2 (or worse) goaltender on the team, and they wouldn't have traded for Burke.

Yashamaga 02-15-2004 12:45 PM

once again, rdd proves that he knows nothing at all.

HE HIMSELF told the Flyers that he couldn't handle being the #1 goalie.

Y2Ant 02-15-2004 02:47 PM

I thought Vertigo was something you have like all the time, rather than just get (and get rid of) :?:

Like you can't go up in high places and stuff

YOUR Hero 02-15-2004 03:55 PM

Sometimes I just don't get you Yash. I know you are at times unfairly picked on, but that last response by you is a true :wtf:

Yeah this vertigo stuff that he's developed is not what I understood it to be.

why?

rdd said that without this vertigo, Hackett would be the starter and Burke wouldn't be there.

I proved him wrong

road doggy dogg 02-15-2004 07:21 PM

Er... you didn't "prove" anything. :wtf:

The "FLYERS THEMSELVES" said that they wouldn't sign Burke because they would still have to deal with Hackett's salary next year. Since he did retire (note: because of the vertigo), they didn't need to worry about his next year's salary, thus signing Burke.

YOUR Hero 02-15-2004 07:34 PM

Fu</>ck this I'm outta here

Yashamaga 02-15-2004 08:31 PM

lol yeah and it's just a coincidence that he happened to retire, right?

road doggy dogg 02-15-2004 09:16 PM

What the f</>uck are you on about, honestly?

Are you not aware that he has a serious injury? Or are you mental?

Yashamaga 02-16-2004 11:48 AM

yeah it's pretty serious

he played in an AHL game like last week

Adder 02-16-2004 12:01 PM

That was called rehab Yash. Like alot of players when they come back from an injury, they play in the minors to get back into game shape. Hackett however fels he can get back, thus he retired.

Y2Ant 02-17-2004 09:33 AM

Scot has Vertigo

da_king 02-17-2004 09:59 AM

at least hackett made some sort of effort unlike that pussy hasek

Yashamaga 02-17-2004 10:59 AM

Yeah Hasek sucks. He needs to go back to the Czech and beat up his wife some more

lol his teammates shelled him in the head at his last practice

MoRcHeEbA 02-18-2004 08:36 PM

as much as I hate to agree with yash Hackett did an interview and so did bobby clarke saying that when they were looking at the options of what to do they kind of presurred him into retiring.
