NFL MVP 2006

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td colspan="2" class="player"># 9 Drew Brees</td> <td rowspan="2" align="right" width="134">http://images.nfl.com/images/helmets/134x121/NO.gif</td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td width="70">http://images.nfl.com/images/players/60x80/235197.jpg</td> <td class="playerbio"> ██████████ QB
Height: 6-0
Weight: 209
Born: 01/15/1979
College: Purdue
NFL Experience: 6</td></tr></tbody></table>
He has thrown for 4033 yards in 13 games.. Completed 318 of 479 passes.. Has 25 TD's to 10 INT's.. Leads the NFL with a 101.3 Passer Rating..

Ok, I am a homer but I really think he deserves this.. Not only look at his stats, but also look at the impact he has made on our whole team.. Reggie Bush and Marques Colston or not, no way we'd be 9-4 if Aarron Brooks was still around.. He brought a winning metality to the Saints and has lead them to victory three times the amount we won last year..

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td colspan="2" class="player"># 21 LaDainian Tomlinson</td> <td rowspan="2" align="right" width="134">http://images.nfl.com/images/helmets/134x121/SD.gif</td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td width="70">http://images.nfl.com/images/players/60x80/235249.jpg</td> <td class="playerbio"> ██████████ RB
Height: 5-10
Weight: 221
Born: 06/23/1979
College: TCU
NFL Experience: 6</td></tr></tbody></table>

He is outstanding.. He has been called the greatest running back to ever play the game.. He broke the TD Record yesterday with 29 on the season.. 26 on the ground, with 3 recieving TD's.. He's also thrown 2 TD's (I think) this season.. All this with three more games to go.. He's had something like 7 multiple TD games in a row.. He is an all around player who runs with both power and finesse.. He would be a great asset to any team..

Aiight.. Discuss who you think should get it.. Add players, Peyton Manning maybe?? I think Brees should get it, but there's a huge argument for LT also..

So discuss..

MrESteel 12-11-2006 03:38 PM

LaDainian Tomlinson! That is enough said.

CSL 12-11-2006 03:44 PM

<font color=white>It's bound to be Tomlinson isn't it?</font>

MrESteel 12-11-2006 03:51 PM

Yeah just about.

It is also nice to see such a great NFL player be all about TEAM and not all about himself and money.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-11-2006 04:12 PM

Right now, I'd say Tomlinson. Brees could sneak in there though if he tosses a few more TD passes, he already has a shitload of yards. LT is the best player on the best team though, so yeah.

Triple A 12-11-2006 06:05 PM

Tomlinson seems like he is a lock.

OssMan 12-11-2006 06:16 PM

Tomlinson will win, Brees should definately win. Chargers are awesome without Tomlinson anyway and I guess like half of tomlinson's TDs are 1 yard runs. Brees keeps the Saints alives, they'd be 4-9 without him.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-11-2006 06:33 PM

Who cares if he has a lot of short TD runs? He averages 109 yards per game at 5 yards per carry. Also has like one lost fumble in over 300 touches

Crippla 12-11-2006 06:35 PM

Tomlinson.

Tiki Barber 2005: 1860 YDS, 116 YPG, 357 carries, 1 fumble, 9 TD (fourth in MVP voting [and i didnt mention his receiving yards])

Shaun Alexander 2005: 1880 YDS, 117 YPG, 370 carries, 5 fumbles, 27 TD (NFL MVP)

The MVP voters care if he has a lot of 1 yard touchdown runs. That's what wins you the MVP.

Triple A 12-11-2006 06:49 PM

I agree with AssMan though that the Chargers would still probably be good without Tomlinson but the Saints would probably be awful without Brees, which would technically make him the most valuable player.

Yes..

As I said in the first post, we would not be near 9-4 with Aarron Brooks..

Shared MVP??

I mean, there has been a few years where two players won it.. Manning and McNair in 2003 being the last..

McLegend 12-11-2006 07:56 PM

Dovann McNabb :shifty:

McLegend 12-11-2006 07:57 PM

Seriously its Drew Brees

Nervous Ferret 12-12-2006 12:33 AM

It will be LT, but I dunno, I personally am still undecided. :-\

Joey Slugs 12-12-2006 02:17 AM

LT. It's not even close.

Kris P Lettus 12-12-2006 03:12 AM

It's closer than you'd think..

Truthfully, it wouldn't suprise me if they both won..

RP 12-12-2006 03:18 AM

Well, i'll throw the first curve ball. I think its Devin Hester. I'm really big on that guy right now. He's been unreal in the biggest games for the Bears.

<font color=white>McNair is still the man yo</font>

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-12-2006 05:45 PM

I don't like the "Well they wouldn't be good without him arguement"...no shit? Name a team (a good team) in the NFL that would be good without their QB?

Brees is putting up ridiculous numbers tho, and I could see Kripy's prediction of co-MVPs happening.

weather vane 12-12-2006 05:53 PM

Seriously too close to call. These guys have been outstanding this year. Nobody in the league comes close.

The MVP voters care if he has a lot of 1 yard touchdown runs. That's what wins you the MVP.

So they have the exact same stats except LT has 18 more touchdowns? I don't think ALL of his TDs have been 1 or 2 yard runs. I'd like to see Tomlinson's TD runs vs Tiki's...Tiki only has 9 TDs so I'm sure Tomlinson has ATLEAST 9 long TD runs...Thats great you didn't mention recieving since LT has catches and more recieving yards then Tiki anyway...Tomlinson has even thrown for 2 TD passes, not that important I guess but pretty pimp anyway

Also, Tiki Barber plays for one of the more disappointing teams in the NFL, while Tomlinson plays for the best team (right now anyway) in the NFL.

OssMan 12-12-2006 11:49 PM

Wasn't trying to compare Tiki last year to Tomlinson this year, trying to show how a shit load of TDs is more important to the MVP votes than overall performance is.

Gertner 12-13-2006 12:10 AM

LT

he's carrying a team with a rookie qb and no real deep threat except gates

OssMan 12-13-2006 12:38 AM

He is not carrying the team you fucking retard. They have a very good 3rd year QB, the best TE in the NFL, and good WR. They also have a decent secondary but have a crazy pass rush. He is an awesome RB on an awesome team. He's carrying the ball. Not the team.

Crimson 12-13-2006 12:17 PM

lol@ LT having a lot of short td runs. WTF are you smoking..he probably has more long td runs than anyone else..except maybe ...Mo' Jo Drew

Jesus Shuttlesworth 12-13-2006 12:58 PM

I don't get how that could be knock on him even if he did have a lot of short TD runs, it actually makes him look better since he doens't need a "short yardage back" to get the all short gains for him.

Gonzo 12-13-2006 01:24 PM

I've always thought that the MVP is kind of stupid. The award that is. I don't care if I have a guy on the team I like score 30 TD's a year, who cares? If the team is scoring TD's who cares who gets them? I think the MVP usually goes to a guy who just throws up gross numbers, not to the guy who is actually most valuable to his team. Arguments can be made for some MVP's that if the team didn't have them they would still be in a similar position.

DrA 12-14-2006 01:05 AM

I never really pay attention to the NFL MVP award, but I would probably give it to LaDainian Tomlinson at this point.
