Confidential spoiler

During the classic match segment, they had the Nasty Boys vs. LOD. They showed the image of the old WWF logo plenty of times. I thought that they couldn't ever show that image again without bluring it out, or even say "World Wrestling Federation" anymore. Whasup wit' dat?

I think they can show the classic WWF logo, but the scratch one they adopted in 1998 they cannot show as the handshake agreement they had with the wildlife find was in force then.

I think they can say World Wrestling Federation whenever as well.

Bad Guy 02-15-2004 03:16 PM

Nah they can't say it. I paid close attention to this last night when LOD won the tag titles on Confidential, Howard Finkel went 'here are your winners, and NEEEEEW *volume fades out, you can barely hear it though* <small>world wrestling federation</small> Tag team champions, the legion of doom"

Well, they had an agreement for 7 years running before this became an issue. Just how long were you in high school/junior high?

Kane Knight 02-17-2004 12:27 AM

I mean, the fact that they had such an agreement kinda indicates that they had done something...Dealt with it before you claim they made a big deal about it...

Kane Knight 02-17-2004 12:39 AM

Errrr...I mean...*spazzes out over panda like a total fu</>cking retard*

May bad, didn't know how long they they had the agreement. Thank you.

Well, the way the WWF waiting until wrestling became popular to sue was stupid.

Still, copyright laws are copyright laws.

I wonder if HHH would sell a severe mauling from a Grizzly though...

Yeah, they should have looked into the future and seen that, at some point when they made it big, this wrestling promotion would do things they didn't approve of and raise hell beforehand...

BECAUSE BAH GAWD THEY COULD SEE THE FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(TYPES IN ALL CAPS FOR EFFECT)

Corkscrewed 02-17-2004 01:04 AM

Um... was that you making fun of me? (just making sure before I offer a rebuttal) ;)

Vega 02-17-2004 03:33 AM

The World Wildlife fund are not assholes because they sued, but are assholes because they refused the $20+ million Vince offered them to change their name (hell, he probably even proposed they just let it stay the way it was and both kept WWF), money that could have gone to the animals they supposedly want to help save. I guess a name is more important to them then their cause.

That's the part that bothers me the most, that beating Vince meant more to them that what probably would have amounted to the (at least one of the)largest single contribution(s) they had ever received. And then they bitched and moaned about how WWE wasn't enough of a change to satisfy them. Additionally, one of the big sticking points for the Fund was that they wanted the rights to WWF.COM, which is now the "Web Wrestling Forums." But nah, they weren't out for a win over Vince at all.

KingofOldSchool 02-17-2004 02:55 PM

They just wanted to get themselves some exposure and they got it.

Because it would have been absolutely free for them to change their name, web domain, and whatnot.

I mean, if you ignore the costs of changing the name of a multinational organisation, the time, the effort, and the problems that come along with any organisation changing their name (Including the association with that name that's been around longer than there's been a WWF wrestling company), then that 20 million seems awful good. Of cuorse, if you ignore all that, you're basically plugging your fingers and going "lalalalalala IM NOT LISTENING!!!!" like a total retard...
