Video Editing Questions???

1. Does anyone know a free program that converts .VOB files (decrypted DVD files) into AVI, Xvid, Mpeg, etc. ???

2. Better yet, does anybody know how to splice up videos? For instance, I have a certain video and I only want from 0:25 to 1:45 of it. How would I go about doing that? What program do I need?

Please let me know. Any help would be much appreciated!

Canopus ProCorder 2 should be able to handle your conversion needs. You will need a torrent, tho, since it's not a free program. Also, Downunder is the resident expert on it.

As for the splicing... Windows Movie Maker? I dunno.

just checkout www.videohelp.com for the answers to all your questions :)

TMPG is really good for converting VOB files, and there are many programs that can be used to edit videos:

virtualdub for avi files, tmpg for mpg file, etc

just check out the above site listed, it will help you with everything you need!

I use AoA DVD Ripper to convert from DVD to a movie file, then I use Windows Movie Maker to edit.

I hear Sony Vegas is a good program too, but a lot more complex than WMM

how do you convert VHS to DVDDDD without using the computer? like i have a VCR and DVD player in one unit there has to be a way to record onto it.

I think you would need a DVR thing, not just a DVD player, but I've never done that so I can only guess.

Yeah, you need one of those 2 in 1 dealies that specifically says that you can record from vhs to dvd. Most only do dvd to vhs.
