Battle Royal or Battle Royale?
 

I've seen it spelled both ways. What's the difference, if any, between the 2?

The letter "e".

I prefer Battle Royal though.

That's pretty much it. No difference in the actual matches, just the dialect they use or it's a way to make it fancy.

i think they add the e in royale overseas and keep it out here in the states

That's what I was thinking too.

There's a difference between Royal Rumble and Battle Royal[e], but not between the two spellings. And neither one is more right than the other.

And what might that difference be?

Edit: We're talking about battle royals, not Royal Rumbles... Threw me off. :(

Battle Royale is when the match involves more than 10 non-American wrestlers.
