Oldest wrestler to wrestle a match.
Who is it? I'm thinking Backlund or Funk but Flair has to be catching up.
|
Mae Young probably.

What about the oldest male wrestler?
|
How old is Funk. Flair and Backlund?
|
Funk: 62
Flair: 57 Backlund: 56 (Last match, according to OWW, was Royal Rumble 2000, so 51 was the last age he wrestled at.) |
I think a buried alive match between Flair, Funk, Backlund.

What about Lou Thesz? Didn't he carry on almost up to his death?
--EDIT-- Apparently not. But still has a good score. Thesz wrestled on a part-time basis over the next 13+ years, winning his last major Title in 1978, in Mexico, becoming the inaugural Universal Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion at the age of 62. He dropped the title to El Canek in 1979. He officially retired in 1979, after a match with Luke Graham. He stayed retired for the most part, before wrestling his last match in 1990, at the age of 74, against his protege, Masahiro Chono. |

Lou Thesz was up there.
Mae Young is probably the one. I remember hearing the definite answer a while back, but I do not recall what the hell the answer is for sure. I have a whole constant ringing in the right ear thing going on, so not much for the concentrating right now. BTW, Abdullah The Butcher is up there way higher than Flair or Funk. |
Yeah, Abdullah's about 70.
|
I remember back in 2002 when Abby did a four way match with Kevin Sullivan, Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes. The combined age of those four totals over 240+ years.
|
I think Abdullah the Butcher is the oldest active wrestler in the business, considering he still regularly competes.
|
Gypsy Joe (Gilberto Melendez) still actively wrestles and is three years older than Abdullah. Doesn't count for much but still.
