ECW takes a step in the right direction (spoilers)

I thought the show went well tonight well the few minutes I saw were good.

Test going over Sabu was good because since he's leaving anyway might was well put some one over, however I believe they should have had a feud which would end at SNME.

As much as I wanted RVD to win the ending was well called (Yeah the last move was botched) hopefully RVD will feud with lashley and win the title at SNME then face Punk at mania.

The Naitch 01-03-2007 12:35 AM

RVD is not winning the title anytime soon

McLegend 01-03-2007 12:36 AM

I thought the RVD/Lashly match was pretty good, but overall I didn't really like the show.

The Naitch 01-03-2007 12:36 AM

watch them put the title on Hardcore Holly. I'm serious

Savio 01-03-2007 12:38 AM

Lashley needs to show some blood though or atleast start choking people out, cuz he is def not ECW material.

PullMyFinger 01-03-2007 01:19 AM

I thought SNME was finished?

XXXCMPunkXXX 01-03-2007 01:24 AM

I think it is part of the contract with NBC Universal (USA's parent company) that Vince gets 2 primetime specials a year hence SNME

Savio 01-03-2007 04:36 PM

yeah for 06 and 07 after 07 though its prob not coming back.

What will happen when all the marks for WWE guys, start watching TNA, and all the TNA marks start watching WWE? Scary Thought people.

...Scary.

Afterlife 01-03-2007 05:01 PM

First, he was supposed to get 4 SNME specials, one before each of the Big four ppvs. With the Rumble and Mania coming up, we may get those two more, but it's a 50/50 that nobody really worries about.

As for Test/Sabu, I was very rudely awakened. I hadn't seen the ECW show in a long while, but that match was absolutely horrendous. Test is great, and when he's in with another wrestler, he's gold. But it was made brutally apparent that Sabu is a terrible wrestler. Yes, he's a fucking Pharoah in the hardcore realm, but as ECW is a shell of it's essence, he no longer belongs. He hurls himself into his opponents, but he does so in a haphazzard fashion that makes what could be a decent springboard reverse lariat look like he's just flinging himself about like an untrained jobber. It was informative, if not depressing.

El Fangel 01-03-2007 05:07 PM

ECW is like resurrected eagle, coming back as a wounded duck. It was once powerful, entertaining and had meaning. Now its just something you feel sorry for, and wish would die.

That was the PERFECT analogy.

As for RVD getting the strap I would bet he doesn't even want it now witht he direction ECW is heading. He probably X's every day off his calender leading up to his contract expiration and has "TNA Debut" written in and circled and the first show they have he can legally appear at.

I wonder how RVD will do in TNA without the Rob Van Dam name... I bet Vince owns it

Kane Knight 01-03-2007 05:54 PM

Punk is fired?

Destor 01-03-2007 05:55 PM

Goulet RVD was wrestling on the indies with that name before ECW, just like Christian was using Christian pre-WWE. He can use the RVD name.

6to1 01-03-2007 06:03 PM

if rvd was smart enough to trademark it before vince could i hope for his sake he was.

El Fangel 01-03-2007 06:09 PM

I can see it now, he debuts come in the TNA ring, and says.

He may be able to use "Rob Van Dam", but could he use "RVD"?

I realize that, but look what he did with the Dudleys... I wouldn't be suprised to see that Vince trademared it

ChiefStubbs 01-04-2007 06:52 PM

As for Sabu, yeah, I'm a really fucking huge mark for him, but he SUCKS as a normal wrestler. In fact, if I didn't know about his hardcore career before WWE, I woulda thought he was just some horrible jobber. As for making people look good, his bad regular wrestling skills actually makes them look bad.

Added to that, it was a HUGE mistake putting him on the mic. I'm sorry, but the man has zero mic skills and can't talk for shit.

M-A-G 01-04-2007 07:36 PM

Test > Sabu. I don't care what you say.

And it ruins his character. He's not even SUPPOSED to talk.

Jeff Hardy didn't have to change his name in TNA. I don't think RVD has to worry.

When it's his real name I doubt he's got much to worry about.

Good point. I heard Vince tried to by the rights to his birth certificate though and he almost had to wrestle in TNA as Jiff Nardy. :shifty:
