Unless the AKI/THQ engine is showcased again.

:'(

WCW/NWO Revenge, WM2000, No Mercy > all wrestling games since

Fignuts 01-10-2007 01:19 AM

Fire Pro Wrestling series > Aki/THQ series > KOC series > Smackdown Series

Funky Fly 01-10-2007 01:34 AM

Frankly, DoR's engine was half No Mercy half other shit.

What Would Kevin Do? 01-10-2007 01:38 AM

KOC 2 still has the best reversals.

Just sayin.

Blitz 01-10-2007 01:39 AM

Saturday Night Slam Masters.

That it does, but the KOC series, while awesome, still has some glaring flaws in the gameplay. Also, lack of match types hurts it as well.

Too bad the sequel was kinda gayed up. I really hope they come out with a 3d version of this someday. Or even a 2D DS sequel (SNSM 3!!!!). That would be tits.

I gotta agree with that. It seems the best were on N64.

Kane Knight 01-10-2007 07:39 AM

DoR was flipping awesome because of the elements it incorporated from No Mercy.

M-A-G 01-10-2007 01:28 PM

Shame only 4 people could be on the screen at a time.

Mr. Monday Morning 01-10-2007 02:49 PM

Ok somebody please do me a favour and provide me with an idiot's guide to getting a FirePro game. Preferably one with the match ratings in. Am I being dumb or are there no english language versions of FirePro at all?

Xero 01-10-2007 02:59 PM

Besides the GBA games, you'd need to download mods and burn them to work in English on a current/last gen console.

I don't think I'll ever enjoy an Assman post.

Kane Knight 01-10-2007 06:25 PM

You're not alone.

Funky Fly 01-11-2007 01:00 PM

AssMang refers to some of the background music in No Mercy.

Im actually enjoying smackdown v raw for the 360, could never stand it before as everything felt far too fast and arcadey, this version imo feels more "real" i suppose.

Actually laoded up wmx8 and wmxix for the cube on my wii the other day, jesus christ...x8 with its 4 front moves and xix with a no mercy (ish) style grapple system but extremely half assed animation all over the show. Then you had the utterly retarded revenge mode, also known as the "we couldn't be fucked making a proper season mode this year" mode. :nono:

Bad Company 01-14-2007 03:04 AM

Warzone 4 lyf

Vietnamese Crippler 01-14-2007 04:16 AM

Warzone was the shit, now if they only didn't make Attitude :n:

Fignuts 01-14-2007 04:49 AM

Revenge mode was crazy underrated. Especially when playing multiplayer.

It was something different. I rather preferred it over the redundant story modes that come with most games.

Savio 01-16-2007 12:13 AM

Wrestlemania the Arcade game was different, too. Doesn't make it good.

Just John 01-16-2007 12:31 PM

Never played no mercy, my sister did (Yeah wtf) my overall faveourite wrestling game has gotta be Here comes the pain.

El Fangel 01-16-2007 12:43 PM

That was a great game, I played it for like 12 hours straight, I loved thes season mode in it, and the progression of titles you could win.

Nitro?

Kane Knight 01-17-2007 10:11 AM

It really is a shame Def Jam went away from the Aki engine. It's not the same as a real wrestling game, but who cares?

Better Than You 01-17-2007 01:41 PM

I loved this game/

Have you seen the previews for the new Def Jam game? It abandons it completely, since EA are doing it in house. Looks like shit, naturally enough.

Three Words:

Day of Reckoning.

That series definitely carried the torch. After playing them, I think they're even better than SmackDown (with the out-of-WWE moves, Scott Steiner's REAL finisher, the REAL F-U, and so on)

Funky Fly 01-18-2007 02:44 PM

I liked how everyone had alternate outfits In the older games. Even WMXIX had them.

Don't you love it how, now, they're too lazy to make more alternate costumes, and yet most of the parts for some of the outfits are in CAW.

Funky Fly 01-18-2007 04:33 PM

Or better yet, when some people in story mode clearly have second outfits but don't use them in the ring.
