I'm a musical packrat.

My MP3 player is full almost to capacity (10 GB), and I'm having trouble weeding out stuff I don't want on there. I've spent like 3 days at it, and have probably weeded out like 10 songs max. Even worse is my habit to just drop stuff on...I'll put a ton of stuff in, and then never get rid of it...I dropped my entire Pixies and Pink Floy Collections (And have only recently found any to remove).

anyone else this way?

The Destroyer 02-17-2004 10:38 AM

Mine's 30 gigs, and is only half full, so not yet. :$

I actually wiped about 50 files off it today...

Kane Knight 02-17-2004 10:39 AM

Damn.

Yeah, I need a larger portable. I'm thinking if I can get about 20 Terrabytes...

The Destroyer 02-17-2004 10:43 AM

I hear they'll have storage the size of a microchip that can hold 10tb by 2015. :shifty:

Kane Knight 02-17-2004 10:43 AM

NOT SOON ENOUGH! GET TO WORK!

Kane Knight 02-17-2004 10:48 AM

My current stats on winamp...

2365 tracks in playlist, average track length: 4:00
Playlist length: 157 hours 46 minutes 56 seconds

And yet, I can never seem to find something I want to listen to on there.

The Destroyer 02-17-2004 11:04 AM

You've burned out your musical taste, tragic. :'(

Old school.

I won it from Outwar.com. It was free.

The Destroyer 02-17-2004 02:33 PM

Mine cost £200. :(

Silent 02-17-2004 03:04 PM

I have a 15gig iPod. I only have like 600 MB of music on there though. Haven't bothered to load all my CD's and stuff.

The Destroyer 02-17-2004 03:05 PM

Transfering CDs is time consuming. :-\

Took me weeks to do 300 odd CDs.

Silent 02-17-2004 03:06 PM

Yeah that's why I don't want to do it.

Yeah. Massively time consuming.

Not that I have enough space on my 10 GB Mp3 player...I've only got 400 of my CDs actually catalogued right now...And stacks and stacks more I ain't put away yet.

That makes it even worse...I have to pick and choose the songs I like. For some bands, it's easy. I got all my favorite Queen songs on there no sweat. Other bands, it's a little bit harder to do...I haven't had over 15 years of sorting through their music...

So it takes even longer to pick and choose a few songs/cd...

4225 tracks in playlist, average track length: 3:54
Estimated playlist length: 275 hours 9 minutes 24 seconds

I'm in the process of transferring all my MP3s and CDs onto CD-Rs for my car's MP3 stereo. I just spent a few hours the other day ripping all my Beatle's albums. Strangely enough, you can put all of the Beatle's major albums and the anthologies on one CD and still have room for more. :o Cheeky bastards would record 14-track albums that'd still come out to below 40 mins long, that's why. :p

Joeleosis 02-17-2004 05:13 PM

As a matter of fact, Abbey Road is 17 tracks at 47 minutes roughly.

In other news, I can fit all of NIN's and Manson's LPs, plus random remixes, B-sides, and EPs on one 650MB CD-R.

Yeah, I put my Beatles Collection on one Disc, both for archive purposes and for my car stereo (which I need to get installed still...but...).

I did that once, but I had massive volume descrepancy between PHM and the other albums. Made it difficult to listen to.

'Course this was a standard of the time.

The longer you went on a vinyl record, the thinner the grooves had to be.

Records tended to be limited by the recording medium.

I just use a mini disk player as it has unlimited storage
