i tried looking for a thread on this movie but didn't find one. I may be blind.

I saw this last night and man what a great movie. One of the better movies of the year. I didn't feel like it dragged in any part and it was just all around well done. I left the movie and the first thing my girlfriend said to me, "I feel extrmemly guilty wearing these rings because I dont' know where the diamonds came from."


Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Good, but like many movies, ham-handed with a weak message.

It wasn't bad, I'll give deCrappio credit he nearly got the South African accent perfect.

Great movie...yea message had been done before but still a great watch.

I don't thhink I've seen that message done in popular media before.

What is your justification for calling DiCaprio bad? I am just intrigued because I could honestly say he's one of the most underrated actors of the last 15 years and probably one of my three favourite.

It's gotten good reviews. I'll rent it when it becomes a rental.

Up until this move he looked like a 12 year old with a glued on facial hair to make him look older and no amount of acting could hide that. But in this role I'll give him full marks for the accent, almost spot on.

He's hardly underrated, hollywood and the media love him.

The minute you call a media darling underrated, you've pretty much lost the argument.

Not in the opinion of the media, but in general opinion of critics and guys like you guys - DiCaprio appears underrated to me.

Just because he's not in a Kevin Smith movie and he's a bit of a media darling can't take away from the fact that he is a fantastic actor.

agree...he's one of my favourite actors.
he gets a "bad rap" because of his babyface i suppose.

You had me until "critics." Critics have softballed him since he got his start. This sounds less like a valid complaint and more a "I won't let the facts get in the way of a good rant" deal. Seriously. He's a critical golden boy. He's been hailed a brilliant by many a teenage girl. He has to be one of the most overrated actors ever, simply by virtue of the seemingly endless praise from you folks.

No but he's overrated in the sense that he's a pretty boy who suits the role of the young and innocent wide-eyed boy. Whereas people sometimes overlook the fact that he has put in some performances that are up there with some of the best of them from the last 20 years. You clearly know a little more than me about movie critics and the like but I have always been under the impression that people still look at him as that loser from Titanic.

Yes. Except, you know, movie critics, the media, and women everywhere.

You'll find vocal criticism of DeCaprio, but you'll also find vocal criticism of Star Wars. Last I checked, Lucas still does good money. Is he underrated too?
