Basically, I am looking for essential new wave albums to download. I don't really want any obscure shit. Just the "must haves".

So which are the best new wave albums?

The Cars - The Cars

Probably the best one.

I don't really know what the "classic" albums are, because most New Wavers were one hit wonders.

I'd check out some Talking Heads too probably. Duran Duran possibly.

Tears for Fears

Already got a lot of Talking Heads albums. Depeche Mode, true.

Ultravox - Vienna
Soft Cell - Non-stop Erotic Cabaret
Culture Club - Kissing To Be Clever
ABC - The Lexicon of Love

These aren't really new wave, more 80s post-punk, though some would argue New Wave encompasses all of the "punk" of the 1980s. They are must have albums for anybody though:
Joy Division - Closer
Echo and the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain
The Church - Starfish
The Sound - Jeopardy
