Would any of ECW's "new breed" have gotten over in old ECW?

The only real one that comes to mind is Matt Striker. The think the crowd would have killed him in old ECW.

Going in with his whole "Extreme Enforcement of the rules" Could have been another Steve Corino.

Londoner 02-05-2007 02:39 PM

CM Punk and Elijah Burke I think, as for the rest, no.

Xero 02-05-2007 02:40 PM

I bet Test wouldn't.

Gertner 02-05-2007 02:41 PM

Actually, come to think of it, Test and CM Would have probably done well too.

Jeritron 02-05-2007 02:45 PM

To be honest, look at a lot of what they had...
I think most of them could have gotten over, they would have just been booked by Heyman, which means differently and better.

CM Punk def would have

Londoner 02-05-2007 02:46 PM

Oh yeah i forgot about Test, Lashley definately not though.

Lock Jaw 02-05-2007 02:53 PM

Marcus Cor Von.

POOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUNCE!!!! PERIOD!

Anybody Thrilla 02-05-2007 02:56 PM

Anybody could get over in the old ECW.

Testicle 02-05-2007 02:58 PM

weather vane 02-05-2007 04:58 PM

CM Punk
Matt Striker

The Ravishing One 02-05-2007 05:01 PM

CM Punk :y:

Jeritron 02-05-2007 05:48 PM

I still think Lashley would have. Heyman would have booked him better, perhaps as a dominant heel. Plus he'd be getting thrown through tables and shit. I think with Heyman's booking, and just by being a part of their church, the ECW fans would have accepted just about anything Heyman created and made ECW

Heyman could make big men better than their skillset. And Lashley has the added benefit of actually being a pretty gifted wrestler on top of that. He'd probably never be World Champion (although I said the same thing about Mike Awesome before he came through the crowd), but he'd be pretty over. He wouldn't be Tommy Dreamer or Sandman over, but he could have been 911 over.

ron the dial 02-05-2007 08:02 PM

I think that anybody currently on the roster (obviously barring former ECW wrestlers) besides Lashley, Holly, and possibly Moore could have gotten over.

Indifferent Clox 02-05-2007 10:20 PM

I believe heyman could book anyone. So Mr. JL thinks for the neg rep but it's just a fucking opinion.

Indifferent Clox 02-05-2007 10:43 PM

fucking xerzes.

Destor 02-05-2007 10:44 PM

The ECW audience shat on MANY wrestlers despite Heyman booking them. Not everyone got over in ECW.

Fignuts 02-05-2007 11:31 PM

Hardcore Holly.

Say what you will about how he treats the new blood, but his style exemplifies the old ecw brawling made popular by Dreamer, Raven, etc.

Indifferent Clox 02-05-2007 11:39 PM

I forgot about the crowd.

My bad you guys are right

jindrak 02-06-2007 12:10 AM

Remember when Test was supposed to be the next Kevin Nash?

I'm not sure if Holly would have gotten over with the crowd, but he would have defenately held his own against the other wrestlers.

Fox 02-06-2007 02:47 AM

Kevin Thorn and Ariel would have gotten pretty over with the ECW fans. Thorn has a nice moveset, Ariel is sexy as hell, and he's got a good, buyable gimmick that is more or less based in reality.

I could see him getting over as a Raven-esque character.

Lock Jaw 02-06-2007 03:13 AM

How is a vampire based in reality?

Dave Youell 02-06-2007 04:41 AM

You know, I don't think Punk would have gotten as over as quickly, if it wasn't for his ROH and Indy work, if we were to debut say in 99 when the indies wern't as strong as they are now, I don't think he's be as big as he is now in all honesty.

He's been pretty down to Earth. Unlike his last gimmick, the D&D player who oculd kick your ass...

Exactly. He goes to underground vampire/alternative lifestyle clubs, or some shit.

Nark Order 02-06-2007 02:18 PM

I actually see Mike Knox as somebody ECW would've had in it's TNN days.
