Premiership: Top 3 players?

Post here your top 3 players in the prem this season.

And also the player you think has peformed best for your club.

My choices hurt me a little bit, but i can't deny them:mad:

3.Drogba - He has been fucking awesome this Season.
2.Cesc Fabregas - If he plays, he runs the show.
1.Ronaldo - Diving whining poncing fanny. But he is incredible....the cunt:rant:

Team: Newcastle United
Player: James Milner. He has been outstanding all season long, and to think we almost sold him:nono:

ct2k 02-08-2007 04:15 PM

1. Steven Gerrard - no contest, he's possibly the most complete player in the league and the driving force behind everything Liverpool do

2. Cristiano Ronaldo - he's gonna get better, especially if he eases up on the unecessary skillz and gets back to basics when he needs...But anyway he's been awesome, particularly picking up the slack whilst Rooney has been absent or out of form

3. Didier Drogba - he's been useless the last few years, but he's suddenly gotten sensational this year

Team: Everton
Player: TIE

-Joleon Lescott - our whole back line has been great generally, especially Lescott, Yobo and Neville, but Joleon in particular has just given it 110% every minute of every game and been a stalwart.

-Tim Howard - the lanky Yank has been amazing in goal, one of the keys to us being where we are, he's been one of the best keepers in the league without a doubt and I'll be distraught if we don't sign him this summer.

El Capitano Gatisto 02-08-2007 04:25 PM

Gerrard? This season?

Best players his season:

1. Paul Scholes - the best midfielder in England, and the best English footballer still playing. Comfortable in possession, a range of passing that is matched by no other player in the Premiership, has weighed in with his share of goals and is the centre of the top side at the moment. Everything United do goes through him, he's the engine of their team. He's not a particularly good athlete so it goes to show what a supremely talented footballer he is.

If he was any other nationality, he'd be the centre of the national team, but the English hounded him out by criticising his goal tally and shifting him around midfield to accomodate less talented players.

2. Didier Drogba - Chelsea would be absolutely fucked without him. Contrary to this rubbish theory that he's only been good this season, he's always been important. He's like having an extra player at times. This season he's added more goals to his all-round excellent work and mayhem-causing. He's undefendable at his best.

3. Michael Essien - Another who Chelsea would be fucked without. Again he's like having an extra player. Which is lucky for Chelsea, because some of their players have been so poor as to be anonymous. Drogba and Essien have picked up the slack. He's got endless energy, gets back and defends for his team but drives forward brilliantly when he has the ball at his feet. Smart passer too. When he goes to right back, he patrols the flank like a winger and full-back rolled into one, but he's too important to play there all the time.

ct2k 02-08-2007 04:27 PM

Completely forgot about Scholes:o

ct2k 02-08-2007 04:31 PM

And yes Gerrard this season, he's the best player, but he's also I'd say the most important. If the premiership had a US style MVP award he'd win it...Actually thats a lie, as in America the player with the best stats on a decent or better team would win it, but Gerrard would deserve it.

El Capitano Gatisto 02-08-2007 04:35 PM

That's bollocks. He's been fairly average this season by his own standards. Liverpool's defence has been the foundation of their recent form.

Mr Regal 02-08-2007 04:37 PM

Hmm I'm not sure about Gerrard, He hasn't really had the best season. Awesome player and doing it now, started the season to slow though, he was well out of sorts.

Scholes has been good too, hands up there. Couldn't tackle his way out of a wet paper bag though:p

ct2k 02-08-2007 04:45 PM

Name another player who commands his team like Gerrard, and if you do, tell me why he's not on your list.

Dazz 02-08-2007 05:26 PM

Terry commands his team much better, coz like Gerrard will shout, but Tel will fucking shout and stick up for his team mates, if anyone gives any shit he is right there, a proper leader. Tel honestly is fucking immense, and his celebrations to the fans when he shakes his fists is much better then Gerrard's. Not to mention he didn't fuck us about in the summer and has never signalled any intent not to be at our club. Fucking love John Terry, top geezer too, saw him in his 4x4 outside Fulham Broadway after the Forset game, was stuck in traffic so I went in front of his car, shook my fists and kissed my badge, he smiled and gave me the thimbs up , opened his door for a chat with some other geezers too for a few seconds before the traffic moved. JT 26, what a fucking numberplate.

More to the point though:

1) Na na na na na na na nanana MICKAEL ESSIEN!

Been superb, love the Bison said he was our best player till he got crocked in Jan last season, about time everyone loved him.

2) Didier Drogba

Two years I've fucking stuck up for him and now they listen.

3) Ronaldo I guess, although being such a diving cunt is massively taking the shine off his performances.

You always said he was 'chief'. Difference now is he doesn't miss ten for every one he scored, and the fans have really got behind him and he always does that little bit extra, it's always him thats getting the fans up for games and it's so enjoyable watching him try now, even if he doee feign injuries every game and stroll back way too slowly from offside positions.

ct2k 02-08-2007 06:03 PM

I considered John Terry for my top 3 for the reasons you cited tbh.

Also its worth noting, Gerrard found out I think during the early part of the season that his girlfriend had been knocking off some gangster from Liverpool:o

That'll put a damper on anyone

Dazz 02-08-2007 06:39 PM

If it's true, theres so many rumours like that going round it's hard to know what to believe. One things for sure the only one cheating in Tel's relationship is him.

Without looking at other peoples and being skewed...

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, hands down
2. Paul Scholes
3. Didier Drogba

Chelsea: Didier Drogba, Terry if he was healhy.

BCWWF 02-08-2007 07:03 PM

I really think Portugal will challenge for the 2010 World Cup because of Ronaldo. I consider him the best player in football right now, and he is like 22 or something rediculous.

A fellow Newcastle fan :D About time!

1) Didier Drogba. Man he was shit before but now I admit he's an awesome awesome player. Works hard, scores belters and normal goes and generally a great striker. Still a diver though.

2) Cristiano Ronaldo. He's an absoulte dickhead playing for the team that I hate the most (still...maybe) but he has been fantastic this season. Most defenders drop a brick when up against him and its easy to see why.

3) Hmmm tough one. I'm going to go with Essien because whenever I see him he's a beast. Tackling hounding and generally never stops. Often makes Makelele look "average" and thats saying something.

Team: Newcastle
Player: Going to have to go with Milner too. Works hard, dribbles, shoots, tackles back. Notable mention to Oba Martins who's looking great now.

Mr Regal 02-08-2007 08:58 PM

Always good to see another member of the Toon Army:y:

Oba has been getting better and better, and with Dyer back now i can see him getting more goals. They play off each other perfectly, it's a fucking joy to see. Now if we could just get duff playing to the best of his ability:roll:

Portugal really don't have much apart from Ronaldo. Particularly upfront they are pretty poor - I think Pauleta was the most criticised forward in BBC history at the WC. Portugal will never be as good as Brazil or any of the other really large teams like Argentina.

McDoogle 02-08-2007 10:30 PM

Fuck Portugal. I can't stand them at all (with the exception of Figo).

ct2k 02-09-2007 06:15 AM

Wayne Rooney > Ronaldo imo, obviously not this season, but Rooney at his best is almost unstoppable, and Ronaldo whilst fantastic this year hasn't yet proven that he can function properly without resorting to pointless stepovers and diving like an Arsenal player.

Still made your fans look like morons, I'll never forget it, he warmed up in front of the East Stand, with your fans right behind him, chanting what a waste of money, half time he comes on, scores two, sets up Frank for two, and we annhilated you, all because of Drogba.

AAAAAAAAALLLL WE NEED IS, DIDIER DROGBA, DIDIER DROGBA, DIDIER DROGBA

Rob Ban Fan 02-10-2007 06:41 AM

I was gonna say Scholes, Ronaldo and Drogba too but everyone has pretty much said the same people, so i'll throw Jonothan Woodgate in too, just to be different. Far too good for Boro.

and for Pompey: Sol Campbell. Absolutely world class.

BCWWF 02-10-2007 07:42 AM

Drogba was a lot of money, but I would hardly call him shit before this year. He has been among the most dominant strikers in the league since he got here.

Another toon army member here, and yeah it'll be great when Duff is back, but knowing our luck Dyer will just get injured again or something.

Londoner 02-11-2007 06:08 AM

As for my premiership top 3 btw they're:

1: Ronaldo, dunno how Ferguson did it but i actually hope he stays at Man Utd because i like their style of play atm and you can be certain that without Ronaldo it wouldn't be so good.

2: Rooney, yesterday proved why he is one of the top players in the premiership, best player on the pitch imo and was severely missed by England, he has that 'final pass' quality we lacked.

3: Drogba, this guy has been on fire this season, and at exactly the same time as Ronaldo to, i wouldn't bet against him finishing top of the goalscorers list this season.

Team: Newcastle United:
Player: Dyer. To have the mental strength to cope with what he's had to cope with with, and to come back stronger than ever, shows a lot about his character and he was a crucial part in us beating Liverpool yesterday i think.

Ogen 02-11-2007 06:59 AM

Scholes
Ronaldo
Drogba
Bit obvious but just really that good.

Villa itsBarry by a long way

BCWWF 02-11-2007 09:39 AM

As much as I am not a fan of Manchester United, I think this really is one of their great teams. They have good players in just about every position, and for some reason I have become a big Ronaldo fan now.

When he first came into the league all I knew about him was that he was named Ronaldo and dove a lot, but then I realized he is like 22 and an incredible play, and he really is fun to watch. I hope he stays with United for a while.

Flair Wooo 02-13-2007 06:30 PM

Gerrard- best overall player in the world no doubt about it he has it all. Shuda got the captains armbnd over terry but who cares apart from dazz

scholes- scumbag but alright this season

Ronaldo - prick.

Fuck off chelsea f.c!
You aint got no history
18 leagues 5 european cups
thats what we call history
!

Shame with all the money you cunts have you wont even go close to matching that.

Flair Wooo 02-13-2007 06:36 PM

And you don't give a fuck about stevie g eh, thats why you've tried signing him past 2 seasons then And will no doubt again this summer. Idiot.

Avenger 02-20-2007 06:21 PM

1. Ronaldo
2. Scholes
3. I hate to rate Drogba as a good player, but he has to come in here.

Man United
I'm not counting Ronaldo and Scholes here and after them our best player has been Ryan Giggs.

BCWWF 02-20-2007 06:45 PM

Even Ronaldinho admits he is a better player than Gerrard

Flair Wooo 02-20-2007 06:47 PM

For tricks and whatnot ronal is the best. but overall gerrard is much much better.

BCWWF 02-20-2007 06:54 PM

He was quoted the other day saying that Gerrard is an immense player, but that Ronaldinho is better since he scores more goals. That's what I was referring to.

Rob 02-21-2007 01:11 PM

How the fuck has Theirry Henry not made anyone's list yet?

ct2k 02-21-2007 01:15 PM

Ronaldinho is overrated, I'd take Gerrard over him any day

Tell me about it. Some dude at my work says he is the best player he has ever seen. He must have seen about 5 matches then. He isn't even the best Brazilian player of the last 10 years nor the best Barcelona player in the same time.

ct2k 02-21-2007 02:49 PM

Without the skillz he would never have gotten any awards.

Hardly set the world alight this season has he?. Generally he'd be top of any list you asked of me but this season not a hope

Ogen 02-21-2007 03:03 PM

I wish fat Ronaldo had come to England hes the best player ( behind Paul McGrath obviously ) I've ever see play

ct2k 02-21-2007 03:06 PM

Ronaldo and Zidane are joint top for me, both were just breathtakingly good when I saw Real a few years ago. The skill they showed purely in ball-handling and passing was awesome.
