The Official Ghost Rider Thread

MOVIE OPENS TODAY

Who's going and when? Going Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

Blitz 02-16-2007 03:33 AM

Going Wednesday. It better make a ton of money.

Lara Emily 02-16-2007 04:01 AM

too bad its gonna blow.

Blitz 02-16-2007 04:10 AM

Yes, it will most likely suck.

Lara Emily 02-16-2007 04:13 AM

meh Ghost Rider II (Daniel Ketch) is better anyway

Apocolyptik1 02-16-2007 06:12 PM

Going to see it tonight.

Not going into it with high hopes, and I will probably be under the influence.

Wish me luck.

ClockShot 02-16-2007 09:02 PM

Keep hearing the story has been tweaked. Then again there are so many versions of the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider, I don't know which one to believe anymore.

From what I'm reading from people who went and saw it already, it was alright. Not something for the little kids, however.

KingofOldSchool 02-16-2007 09:24 PM

I want to go see this but I don't know if it's a go right now or a wait until it hits the dollar theater.

How little? Because my dad is going with me and he's bringing my 10 yr old niece.

Champion of Europa 02-17-2007 01:18 AM

It was a fun as hell popcorn movie.

Funky Fly 02-17-2007 03:11 AM

I'd say it was more faithful to the story than some other superhero movies, but it wasn't 100% accurate. This of course is coming from someone who is familiar with the charactar, but not the comic series itself. Overall, not bad. It could have used less cheese (they thought they had jokes, but they didn't).

7. Maybe 8. Didn't give ages. But she may be alright. May being the key word there.

RP 02-17-2007 10:18 AM

Nicholas Cage looks like a true fag in this movie.

Boondock Saint 02-18-2007 12:04 AM

This was a pretty crappy movie. However, I still enjoyed it on some level. It doesn't take itself too seriously and there's some random humour. Eva Mendes (although wicked nice rack) and Wes Bentley are really terrible.

If you didn't enjoy Daredevil and/or Fantastic Four in the slightest, you prolly won't enjoy this at all either.

Skippord 02-18-2007 01:06 PM

I liked it and I like that they got the Penance Stare in it

D Mac 02-18-2007 08:08 PM

Not too bad. Nick Cage was good for the role.

Skippord 02-18-2007 09:03 PM

Someone find me an MP3 of the song in the end credits

Reavant 02-19-2007 03:34 PM

I loved the graphics of ghost rider and his bike and the first time they showed him turning was amazing. The dialogue was a little cheesey but id say this is the third best marvel movie concept behind spiderman and xmen.

Blitz 02-20-2007 06:25 PM

K just saw it. Not too bad, but not very good either. The effects were a lot better than I thought they'd be, so was Nick Cage.

I really really hated Blackheart and his henchmen tho. Can we please have a movie with supernatural beings who aren't complete pushovers? The water guy got taken down in like 3 seconds flat.

And how come they couldn't show Blackheart in his true form? Instead the most they give us his his human form with red eyes and slightly spiky hair. :n:

Blitz 02-20-2007 06:41 PM

btw Skip, song on the credits is called (Ghost) Riders in the Sky by Spiderbait. I am also looking for an MP3.

Mr Regal 02-20-2007 08:10 PM

Don't know anything about the character Ghost Rider, so i haven't really been looking forward to this one. However Nic Cage is fucking awesome so i'll probably watch it because of him alone.....thats box office draw baby.

Skippord 02-21-2007 12:16 AM

Blackheart was a little fruity

Fuck it, I am still going to see it damnit! :p

Fignuts 02-22-2007 12:42 AM

Some REALLY cheesy dialogue but still a fun movie. I really enjoyed it. Then again I'm a huge comic nerd so I'm a little biased.

I'll be comepletly honest. Even though it was out of character, I loved GR flipping off the police.

Especially considering how powerful he is, compared to most other characters.

One for DC too.

ClockShot 02-24-2007 08:32 PM

Got back from this a few hours ago. I thought it was alright. Blackheart was a bit lame I'll admit. But I did enjoy old man Fonda alot.

ChiefStubbs 02-24-2007 09:36 PM

The bad guys blew, and Nick looked like a nerd, but other than that, it was a pretty good movie.

M-A-G 02-24-2007 10:25 PM

*keeps forgetting about this movie* :o

PapaGeorgio 02-25-2007 01:37 AM

Blackheart was a huge pussy. Overall entertaining.

Blitz 02-25-2007 08:06 PM

For Skip and anyone else who wants it, here's the credits song.

Ok I'm not a fan, I've never read the comic, but WTF?

That movie didn't make sense, why would the devil be so hell bent (hey a better joke than any in the movie rite there) on stopping his son bring hell on Earth??? Also what the hell was that on Cage's head - must have been a product placement for Rugs R Us. Also why would the devil create a crime fighting super hero, and why would you fight the son of Satan with a rifle???

I know it was supposed to be a big dumb movie, but even for big dumb movies it was pretty dumb.

Pinnacle Charisma 02-25-2007 11:28 PM

Nic Cage was very good in this and I liked seeing eva mendes in a non bitchy role for once. I did enjoy the humor in it though and a highlight for me was spotting the landmarks as it was filmed in my hometown of melbourne

If Blackheart succeeded he would become more powerful than the devil.

Dave Youell 03-04-2007 05:31 PM

Just saw it and I loved it.

I didn't know anything about the comic and I felt the film did a great job of explaining what's going on without hanging on every detail. The film moved at a good pace and overall it's hard to find a reason to call it bad in anyway.

Glad they took there time with the release, the extra time on the FX was a great help as the skull could of looked rubbish.

I would quite happily watch it again

Kane Knight 03-12-2007 11:59 AM

Okay, finally saw it this weekend.

Despite what I expected, I enjoyed most aspects of the movie. Let me get the bad out of the way:

  • Nick Cage was not really right for the part. Not only did he seem the wrong face for the job, but at points, he was phoning it in.
  • A couple of the directions they tried to take with the character; The Pennance Stare looking like it killed, the whole "At night" thing, and completely circumventing the inner struggle Blaze had his "inner demons" had.
  • Flavor of the Week bad guys were annoying.
  • Two of the asthetic things with GR: His bulk and his voice, annoyed me as well.
Now, the good:
  • The Story, unlike other films like Daredevil, was largely self-contained. I didn't feel I needed to have read the comics to understand it.
  • The overall feel, with a Western sort of slant to the story, was a nice way of making it feel somewhat alive. Spider-Man and X-Men can't seem to make up their minds if they're a comic-book movie or not. GR blended a sort of ghost-story western with a comic book story, and pulled it off with a nice blend.
  • Most of the supporting cast was well done.
  • The end was nice, though clichéd. Same with the intro.
  • The Blaze character himself, the guy who wants a second chance, is very good.
  • Most of the asthetic choices were very strong.
  • I get to disagree with Wadding.
This is one of the few Marvel Movies I've paid money for I didn't feel ripped off in doing so.

Yes, why would the Devil not want his son, who has indicated that he wants to overtake his father, taking over the Earth? This is a deep and puzzling question never answered in the movie (Except like the three times it was)!

It's always good to nitpick points that are covered in the actual movie, to make yourself look intelligent and credible.
