You know what these big guys lack?

Umaga, The Great Khali and Snitsky are three "monsters" the WWE is trying to put over. Umaga in particular has talent. Snitsky isn't as awful as some would make him seem, and Khali has got this weird fanbase all of a sudden (The guy doesn't interest me enough to get me to read his fan threads, so I'm not too sure if it is people being sarcastic fucks, or what-not). Anyway, it goes without saying that these guys aren't exactly the next Undertaker or Kane.

I think what they lack is a backstory. They are just big guys with no emotional weight. We are meant to believe Snitsky is a monster threat to the ECW Title from the moment we see him. He's not much smaller than Kane, but when the Big Red Machine made his debut, people believed it. Times have changed, yes, but I think a story would help provide the fans a connecting point to the wrestlers in question.

Who is Snitsky? We know he killed Kane's baby. That's about the only monsterous thing he's done. Make up something like he's a member of this cult. Why doesn't he have hair? That is something the WWE could explain. Who was he trained by (in kayfabe)? Where was he trained (in kayfabe)? Combine this with killing Kane's baby, kicking the doll into the audience and crushing his neck with a steel chair, and you have yourself a monster heel.

Umaga is easily the most interesting of the three. I think the secret to putting over Umaga lies with Armando Estrada. Who is he? We know he is Cuban, and he likes money. How much does he have? I personally like the idea of Umaga being a "chosen Samoan warrior" raised from birth to live by animalistic instincts, found by Cuban millionaire Estrada, flown over to Japan, where he trained in martial arts, Japanese style shoot-wrestling and even some sumo.

Is The Great Khali a bad guy. We know he's big, but that's it. Apparently Khali supports an entire village in real life. Why not use that? A gentle giant who needs to be violent...I can see it working. The best heels are the ones who can justify their actions. Khali throwing Kane through a barricade becomes more poignant if Khali is doing it to feed starving children in India.

Line of the century?

It wasn't one of his four preordained angle...Either it's a joke, or a miracle.

Umaga's solid. He just lacks real presence.

Khali lacks both, though he's got presence.

Snitsky's got a mild bit of charisma, a bit of presence, and is solid in the ring, though largely unspectacular.

I can appreciate the general idea behind this, and have mentioned myself that wrestlers need more background to them to make them seem like legitimately developed characters--not just muscled up guys who WANT THE GOLD, COACH.

But lol, chosen Samoan warrior. What the fuck.

Khali will not be pleased with this thread.

Skippord 02-24-2007 12:46 AM

Khali > Snitsky >>>>>>>>> Umaga

Blitz 02-24-2007 12:46 AM

You've got that reversed, Skip.

IS SKIPPORD GONNA HAVE TO KHALI CHOP A BITCH

For those of you who didn't get it, it was an ironic blend of logic with the main event scene in the WWE at the moment. The Critic came closest. :y:

Umaga, Snitsky and Khali should be nowhere near anything resembling the main event. I was pointing out how thin the main event scene was by audiciously listing the main event "characters" the WWE has, while pointing out truthfully how they're not even "characters" at all. They're two dimensional, at best.

Umaga is just a ridiculous character. Eddie Fatu can work, and he carried John Cena to a nice little Last Man Standing Match at the Royal Rumble. Yes he did carry it. Everything memorable about that match belonged to Umaga. The splash, the sell of the stairs being throw into the face. Eddie Fatu is the fucking man.

Why not put him over as a badass who trained in Japan? Another Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit or Eddie Guerrero, with a 300lbs frame. That is potential money. As I have said before, the WWE should reveal that Umaga isn't a mindless wrecking machine, but rather a well-calculated man trained in Japan, who is proud of his Samoan heritage. He goes under the "Umaga" moniker, as kind of a cultural attire.

I was partially serious about Snitsky, though. I generally think there could be interest generated for him to become a decent mid-card act if his change of look was explained. He really should be the one feuding with Kane heading into WrestleMania. I wouldn't object to him being added to the Kane/Khali feud, and create a RAW vs. ECW vs. SmackDown! monster feud.

The Great Khali should be a face and compete on Heat. That's where the money is. When he has guys who bump for him (see Chris Candido in Japan), his matches are actually somewhat entertaining. The WWE veils him under this aura of "big bland Indian guy", and I want to know why I should care.

Sir, the only thing that The Great Khali lacks is a World Title push. Respect.

PullMyFinger 02-24-2007 02:59 AM

Khali has the spirit of Ghandi who has come back with a vengeance.

M-A-G 02-24-2007 05:09 PM

He's all "Too hell with this passive sh*t!"

KingofOldSchool 02-24-2007 05:14 PM

Khali could be an IWC mercinary who acts on the behalf of all of the internet marks.

At Wrestlemania he can come out and chop Cena, costing him the title. And then chop Batista costing him his title.

Hmm, it's a good idea in theory, but Khali would have to chop Batista, chop Undertaker and then chop himself. Actually, come to think of it, that would be the prettiest end to the main event.
