Your personal greatest moment in the history of wrestling

What do you feel was the greatest moment in wrestling that you witnessed?
for me it was wrestlemainia 13 when Bret finally got austin into the sharpshooter. That was an amazing battle with a great ending. The whole match worked like a good movie. Best of all it MADE austin!

So whats your moment(s) ?

Londoner 02-25-2007 04:38 PM

Rock beating HHH at Backlash 2000 after Austin came out, was a mark back then so it shocked me strangely enough, have never marked out as much since.

Blitz 02-25-2007 04:47 PM

ECW November to Remember 2000.

Londoner 02-25-2007 05:04 PM

^ care to be more specific as to which moment in that PPV you're on about?

Jordan 02-25-2007 06:09 PM

Shawn Michaels winning the title at WM 12.

The whole thing. Best show I've ever been to.

James Steele 02-25-2007 06:27 PM

Chris Jericho winning the Undisputed Championship and finally getting the respect he deserves.

HBK beating HHH in his comeback match.

ECW Heatwave 98 (whole ppv, i was there, it was awesome)

My first ROH show (Dragongate Challenge in Detroit)

Seeing as I've only been to a handful of ROH shows, my selection is limited. That being said, last night's show was the greatest for me. Getting to see the Briscoes win the tag titles, and witnessing Joe's last match in the US as an ROH regular. Seriously almost in tears over that.

McLegend 02-25-2007 07:39 PM

Brock destroying Hogan on SD.

Hart Foundation reunion in '97

redoneja 02-25-2007 07:50 PM

I was a Bret Hart mark as a little kid, so Hart winning the Title at Wrestlemania X was probably mine.

Xero 02-25-2007 08:22 PM

The ending of Bret vs. Austin at Mania 13. It was so awesome and so powerful.

Mick Foley winning the WWF championship at RAW.

Übermensch 02-25-2007 10:40 PM

Bret Hart winning the Intercontinental Title from Mr. Perfect at Summerslam 1991. Two of my favorite wrestlers ever in a classic match, made better by the fact that I was a young child.

Xero 02-25-2007 10:42 PM

Also, being there live, I have to add the Mania 20 ending. Everything from the point Benoit locked on the Crossface.

Kane dominating in the 2001 Royal Rumble. If my favourite wrestler hadn't have been so unpredictably monsterous during this match, I probably wouldn't have been a fan.

Wrestling could have died after Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero celebrated in the ring to close WrestleMania XX. Seriously, this is coming from someone who isn't even that much of a Chris Benoit mark, his push starting with the 2004 Royal Rumble win was just emotional stuff. Instead of trying to shove new guys down our throats, the WWE should be listening to its fans and doing things like this.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon forming their alliance at WrestleMania X7 was awesome stuff at the time. I was so shocked I talked to my dad about it on the phone, and just basked in the revelation WrestleMania had put on me. The WWE would kind of kill the essence that was Stone Cold afterwards. They should have made him the same Stone Cold, only doing whatever it takes to keep the WWF Championship. It would have been truly captivating stuff. Triple H really should have turned face (at No Way Out he got a clean victory over Stone Cold, it would have made sense), and it was the perfect time to give Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho major babyface pushes against Austin. With the purchase of WCW, they should have just scrapped the whole Invasion idea, and just had Booker T come in as another top babyface.

A moment which hasn't really been mentioned, is the original One Night Stand PPV. It just worked as a whole, and while some matches didn't live up to expectations, we got Super Crazy hitting an epic Moonsault, Awesome vs. Tanaka and Paul Heyman's promo.

I agree on ONS 1. I went to over 40 ECW shows and PPVs, and I lived ECDW for 6 years. THat whole night was amazing. When all the ECW guys were in the ring together after they beat dow nthe WWE, just looking at them having fun, one last time, celebrating the greatest part of their careers, was awesome. I mean, Autin will always be Austin, but for Balls, Axl, Mikey and the such, it was their biggest final shot. Epic stuff.

I was at Starcade 87, and when Ric took the belt back from the Hands of Stone, I was fuckign NUTS.

A tie would be the Hogan vs Rock Match. I watched it with all my friends and even my room was electric. Must have been great live.

Take the TV atmosphere and multiply it by about a thousand.

I can honestly say that I've been to a hell of a lot of sporting events, and none of them can top the crowds complete and utter frenzy during this match. It's simply one of those things that that can't be described.

But its not my favourite moment ever, that has to be Eddie winning the title against Brock, just ahead of Jericho winning at Vengeance 2001, and Benoit at WM XX. I had similar problems to Eddie at a point in my life, so to see him reach the top after getting over all that was truly amazing.

ttetf 02-26-2007 12:21 PM

Probably the biggest/most significant was Austin's win over HBK at WM XIV. After the ref got knocked out you could feel the entire audience on the edge of its seat because you knew Tyson was going to do something and Austin was going to finally get his big payday. In retrospect too, I look at this as important because this was the event that was the catalyst for WWF's massive resurgence in popularity and quality.

SammyG 02-26-2007 12:30 PM

All the great nWo memories back when WCW was awesome

redoneja 02-26-2007 01:09 PM

The angle on WWF Primetime wrestling where Mr. Perfect came out of retirement and turned face by pouring the water on Bobby Heenan out of the pitcher and accepting Randy Savage's offer to team with him against Ric Flair and Razor Ramon was awesome for me. I have Survivor Series 92 on tape and that match was a total mark-out for me. Especially looking back now that Perfect is being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-26-2007 10:25 PM

I've got three.

Shawn Michaels winning the strap at WrestleMania 12.
ECW's reformation on Raw right up until they joined WCW.
Taz and Sabu finally wrestling at the end.

Negative, that was one of ECW's last PPVs. Heatwave 98 was phenominal though.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-26-2007 10:27 PM

Also ONS 1 and Brock vs Rock.

It's not saying much, but the first (and so far only, but damned if it's going to be the last) card I was at, live. It was a house show, but goddamn, there's something magical about seeing these people live. Hearing Triple H insult the fans after he got a huge pop, Jericho vs Edge was awesome, and seeing Randy Orton with the world heavyweight title was just incredible.

Dave Youell 02-27-2007 06:06 AM

My personal ones:

Foley wins the title

Eddie and Chirs at Mania, who'd of thought 2 WCW guys would close the WWE's biggest ever show?

The whole ONS show, that was great, shame it all went downhill from there

Tazz and Bam Bam going through the ring. The fact that they had another match that night made it even better and looked more realistic, even though it was worked

Hogan Vs Rock Mania 18. It was just an historic moment, the first 2 mins when all they do is look at the crowd was immense, I was there and it was electric

Shadow 02-27-2007 10:01 AM

Jeff Hardy touching the WWE championship. At that moment, I thought he was going to win...then Taker gave him the Last Ride and killed him

Good Lord, that is a grammatically correct sentence.

Ohhhhh yeah, I'll be (Van) damned. Sorry about that, my brain's a little fried HBK2K.

JT 02-27-2007 06:46 PM

DDP winning the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time (I was a huge DDP mark)

ECW joining into the 2001 invasion (this was before later in the night when WCW teamed with ECW).

The One 02-27-2007 06:47 PM

I'm going to go outside the box and say Montreal was an incredible "Oh Fuck You Bret" moment. :y:
