Sheesh....what happened?....

Now, I've been slightly out of touch with the wrestling world for awhile mainly because the place I live in has elected to have only limited basic cable, but I've been able to check websites and such and I can't believe some of things I'm seeing. I understand that the business as a whole isn't doing so hot but come on....what's the deal with WWE shows having the kinda ratings that WCW had just before it had to be sold? And honestly, I've been to the TNA site and their rivalries appear to be a little more intense than that of WWE. Personally I think if they weren't so chicken, TNA could probably do some good things if they had a two hour slot somewhere and put some competition in there. The biggest difference it seems is that they don't have the same roster or production capacity, which could be remedied with a few dollars I'm sure. Don't get me wrong, I am by no means a WWE hater, but I'm not feelin the same kinda drive that there use to be back when competition existed between the companies. I understand Vince is a smart man, but can no one sell this stuff anymore?....Can someone please explain what the heck is going on here?

You are the first person to notice these so called 'issues' the rest of us love the current product of both WWE and TNA and have all agreed that they are both great.

Thanks for posting, in conclusion you are wrong and there's no need to waste your time replying as this is the end of the discussion.

Thank you, come again

Vince McMahon is contaminating the gene pool.

TerranRich 02-27-2007 01:30 PM

WWE is not as good as it was years ago? WOT YOU SAY???

Kane Knight 02-27-2007 01:35 PM

OMG! WWE'S GONNA BE SOLD! RATINGS ARE THE REASON WCW DIED!!!!!!

Jeritron 02-27-2007 01:38 PM

KK, thats classic because I remember a debate a while back that you were involved in, and you were arguing against people who said ratings weren't the reason behind WCW's death.

So it's classic because I sarcastically posted (in a thread with sarcastic responses around) the opposite of something I had seriously argued? :?:

I'm confused as to what part of that is even noteworthy.

WCW wasn't sold because of the ratings. WCW was sold primarily because of workings of the parent company at the time. Ratings affect it, but to call them the cause is as wise as to say the only reason the US fought to keep the Confederate states was, say, slavery.

Some people can never distinguish symptoms and causes.

and no I'm not gonna go find it, because I know you demand documentation. I don't care enough to, I don't even care either way I just figured I'd mention it since it struck me as odd

NeanderCarl 02-27-2007 02:22 PM

The WWE's ratings (with the exception of ECW) aren't as bad as WCW's anyway.

leno40 02-27-2007 02:34 PM

Raw's doing the same ~3.8-4.1 its been doing since mid 2002. Smackdown's getting the same ~3.0 rating its been getting since it moved to Friday nights. They're both the highest rated shows on their respective networks.

The ECW rating sucks though. THE SKY IS FALLING!

cue reymon14's shoot video about the ratings decline.

steveviscious89 02-27-2007 04:17 PM

For the record...I never said that ratings were the reason behind WCW being sold...I merely stated a characteristic of the company at the time when nearly everyone on the face of the planet was convinced that they 'sucked'. I'm aware that WCW was never really being controlled by those who cared about it the most. But nevertheless....there are fewer people watching now...am I wrong? Also...yeah 2002....shortly after the buy out....someone up there said that the ratings declined around that time. My biggest concern was the lack of competition....if I had known this was such an argumentative thread, I might have just kept my thoughts to myself.

You mean this other thread, where I say it was because of ratings?

If you're going to argue how the comparison is invalid, try and at least be relavent. Otherwise, you're substituting bullshit for bullshit (No offense).

A similar analogue would be Stargate SG-1, which is still doing well in the ratings, but is on the chopping block primarily because of financial issues and a corporate leadership that makes Eisner's Disney look competent. I believe you were talking about SG-1 in another thread, which is why I bring it up. Did Stargate lose its following? Not really. Did they lose their slot? yes. Nothing to do with ratings. Well, little to do with ratings...I am realistic.

Oh, wait...That doesn't look like I was talking about it being because of ratings, but rather...The opposite.

Jeritron 03-22-2007 12:56 PM

damn dude, talk about water under the bridge

Kane Knight 03-22-2007 01:00 PM

Yeah, you lied more than 30 seconds ago, dammit! IT should be forgotten!

Jeritron 03-22-2007 01:04 PM

I'm not sure if I lied man, I said you said something in another thread which I was pretty sure you did. But I don't care anymore and I don't even feel like reading your research to be completely honest. So you win.

Kane Knight 03-22-2007 01:25 PM

You lied, and couldn't back it up.

Sorry I didn't address this in a timely fashion, but I was without regular computer access for a couple weeks there, and so I didn't notice your post until I was looking for the Raw Ratings thread I made.

But this isn't about "winning." I'd just very much like you not to make up arguments. Which you did.
