Kris P Lettus 02-28-2007 08:50 AM

You lucky son of a bitch..

I've been wanting to go to a UFC event for years..

Gertner 02-28-2007 11:27 AM

werdum :)

Rob 02-28-2007 01:07 PM

I'm there. Like I could miss this.

The Ravishing One 03-01-2007 03:12 PM

I was kinda hoping Griffin/Ortiz #2 was going to take place.

The Ravishing One 03-01-2007 03:13 PM

But i'm not complaining.

Rob 03-01-2007 04:03 PM

Apparently that was the plan but Tito refused to fight in England for some reason.

McLegend 03-01-2007 09:53 PM

Cause Tito>England

Rob 03-02-2007 05:47 AM

Don't think so. Dana White says the UK shows will be treated on par to the U.S shows so eventually it's gonna happen. Might have been a legal issue or something. Or maybe he didn't want to fight Forrest Griffin again. I dunno.

Side note, I'm more hyped for this show than any other since Summerslam 1992. This is better than going to Mania for me.

ct2k 03-02-2007 05:50 AM

So wish I had money ffs, its only like 30 minutes on the train ffffffs:rant:

Innovator 03-02-2007 02:28 PM

Bisping

Apocolyptik1 03-02-2007 03:08 PM

Looks like it will be a sweet card. Cant go however, because its in the fuckin UK.

I will settle for ufc 69 in houston.

ct2k 03-09-2007 11:18 AM

Is this gonna be a one off or dya think they'll venture back this way again?

The Ravishing One 03-09-2007 11:45 AM

I think i read that they're going to do 4 over here in the year, i'm not sure how true that is though. But they have setup offices in London so thats promising.

The Ravishing One 03-09-2007 11:50 AM

Apparently they want to do half a dozen between now and Christmas over here.

ct2k 03-09-2007 12:33 PM

Well we can hope. New arena on the way in Liverpool as we speak, and its as big a fight town as you can get...But it won't happen, still I'd go down to London or Birmingham for it.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-09-2007 01:54 PM

I was curious, then I saw cheapest tickets were £25. Get the fuck out.

ct2k 03-09-2007 02:32 PM

lol, you probably pay that to go see Wolves, whats the difference?

Innovator 03-09-2007 07:09 PM

Dana said that this is gonna be on live tv on Spike. I heart Dana

1) I don't, since I live half a country away. Besides which, it would get you to pretty much any seat in the stadium. £25 for this is the furthest possible away seats, with piss-poor views if my memory of MEN is correct.

2) If I go to see Wolves, I know exactly what I'm gonna get, more or less. 90 minutes, decent chance of a goal or two. I go to see UFC, the event could be over in an hour or so if matchups don't click properly, or virtually every match could end in constant deadlocks with very little action. I realise that's unlikely with Arlovski and CroCop on the card, and to an extent it's what MMA is about, but still it's a lot of variance. If I was paying £250 (!) for premium seats I'd almost want some sort of guarantee of great action to justify the outlay.

3) Last weekend I saw 2 ROH shows with a great view and fantastic cards for a total of £35

1 - I see your point. I still paid £50 for mine and I would have spent way more if my pal wasn't new to the sport and is never gonna pay more.

2 - Since Zuffa took over, they have only have arguably 2 "bad" shows. And even they weren't that bad. I like the odds here.

3 - Wrestling is shite. ;) Liverpool is also half a country away.

Mr. Monday Morning 03-12-2007 08:27 AM

Eh, I'm a casual fan at best, and between that and the cost of train, hotel etc it's a bit much for me. I don't doubt it will be a good show but I can't justify it right now.

Rob 03-12-2007 12:53 PM

Hotel? Fanny! Just stay out all night like I'm planning to do. Either that or drive back to the midlands.

Lighter note - where's decent to go out here?

Mr. Monday Morning 03-12-2007 03:18 PM

How many times you fucker, I don't live in the Midlands anymore :p Plus I sold my car.

tbh the only real draw for me on the card is CroCop, and I can download the frickin' thing easier than go see it live.

As for up there, I can't really recommend much as I infrequently hung around Birmingham in my Uni days and that's about it sadly :o

Rob 03-12-2007 04:07 PM

Boo!

My girlfriend is gonna throw a wobbly that weekend. She thinks only one person is staying at my house. Oops.

Rob 03-17-2007 06:53 AM

Forrest Griffin is out with staph infection. Dave Heath is in. Jason Lambert and Keith Jardine refused the fight.

The One 03-23-2007 07:58 PM

Bisping is the best thing to come from England since America left it...

Innovator 04-16-2007 05:28 PM

BUMP

McLegend 04-16-2007 05:37 PM

Pretty pumped about this.

Innovator 04-16-2007 05:55 PM

The public execution of Gabe Gonzaga

Apocolyptik1 04-16-2007 06:30 PM

So, I had to post this here. I was on UFC.com and clicked an article link that was talking about MMA coming back to london, and I notice this at the bottom.

Posted by: Rob Harvey, London on 6:17pm today
Have to say it, this article is without question the fairest piece on MMA written by a British journalist (nevermind a boxing expert). Glad to see someone who has such strong ties with boxing isn't turning a blind eye to MMA like some others are clearly doing to protect boxing. The only way boxing can protect itself is less talk outside the ring and more action inside of it.

Obviously more people on this earth could have the same name and even live in and around the same fuckin area, but I have to ask, is that our own famed and loved Rob that frequents these same boards?

PS: Card will rock.

Yeah it was me. I wrote the email to Steve Bunce himself though (and it's the first time I've ever emailed a journalist). That's been cut from the original email though but I have no problem with it.

Mark Coleman couldn't take him down. Josh Barnett had a hard enough time. Gabe Gonzaga ain't taking him down.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-17-2007 11:19 PM

And also he wason the ground with Fedor. And he managed to not get completely dominated. Fedor is the best ground fighter in the world.

Don't rule it out.

Innovator 04-18-2007 09:19 PM

I can't rule it out, especially since Matt Serra just knocked out GSP

Dave Youell 04-19-2007 10:15 AM

Rob, go to Manchester Village, you'll love it :shifty:

Shaggy 04-19-2007 04:48 PM

Cro Cop > Tito

Calling it now...left leg knock out...first round
