IF you could have saved one of the WWEs biggest fuck ups, which one would you pick?

The invasion,ECW,the NWO, ANYTHING they dropped the ball on, picture if you had the ablity to go back and make ONE of these (or others you could think of) go over as well as they should have, which one would you pick?

Personally, i would have saved the Invasion. Why you ask? Look at it like this.

IF WWE didnt screw up the invasion, the whole comprimise of a TRUE ECW/WCW side show brand (perhaps both combined) and brand split would have been much better handled. The possibilty of adding a 3rd show that works (as opposed to the new ECW not working) AND the fact TNA wasnt around meant they basically had nearly ALL the former superstars from BOTH brands that could have possibly all joined up(like rhino/raven and those). Lets face it, Goldberg even said hed NEVER work in WWE when WCW fell...

In addition to this, it would have made the NWO angle even more amazing as theyd push the whole "We took over WCW, we can take over ALL of these shows with new recruits" picture that....were watching an ECW show we ACTUALLY ENJOY, and there are "Chapters" of the NWO in it specfic to that show with the big names like hogan/nash/hall making rare apperences outside of there respective shows, causing problems NWO style in an ECW envoriment with ECW wrestlers.

Ill forever feel that if they DIDNT fuck up the invasion, things would be a LOT diffrent right now.

The One 03-10-2007 01:36 AM

I would have saved the InVasion like so...

Waited until they signed the people worth a damn (Bischoff, Goldberg, Nash, Hall, Hogan...) and not expected the audience to give a shit about Booker T or DDP. While DDP could have been a solid leader of it, they threw his credability out the window when they elected to have Sara go over him.

James Steele 03-10-2007 02:44 AM

The InVasion would have been drastically different if they would have waited. After the InVasion angle, they got: Flair, Steiner, Goldberg, Hogan, Nash, Hall, and Eric Bishoff. Couple them with Booker T. and DDP and the cruiserweights and other talent they had (or already had) and you basically had WCW in a nutshell. Imagine if instead of "McMahon family fued #4589482", you had Bischoff vs. McMahon as the main subplot to the invasion angle. Then, if you would have had ECW form their own faction as well you would have extended the "Attitude Boom" at least another couple of years. For some reason, they refuse to let shit buildup. IMO, the best fued/angle of this "era" was the HBK/HHH fued. It never ended until this DX bullshit (but I have a feeling it will start again once somebody's quads heal).

NeanderCarl 03-10-2007 02:58 AM

Yeah, if only Vince had put his hand in his pocket, he could have set the world on fire with the InVasion, seriously. He would have made his money back ten times over by bringing in Hogan, The Outsiders, Bischoff, Goldberg, Flair and Steiner on top of all the guys he signed up anyway. It's also a shame that Triple H missed the whole feud, and The Rock missed half of it, because they would have definitely added some more star power to the whole affair.

I'd go back and put the awesome Waylon Mercy gimmick on a guy who wasn't physically fucked. It could still have been going today.

addy2hotty 03-10-2007 09:57 AM

For obvious reasons, I would never have done the Smackdown Halloween party a few years ago.

Ninti the Mad 03-10-2007 10:05 AM

I would have ensured Owen Hart didnt die.

RP 03-10-2007 10:07 AM

Never let Owen do the Blue Blazer gimmick :'(

No but really, probably Angle, Triple H, Stephanie love triangle.

NeanderCarl 03-10-2007 10:29 AM

All the Angle, Triple H and Stephanie love triangle needed was a conclusive ending. Everything else was played out to perfection.

Wouldn't really consider it a "fuck up".

Fignuts 03-10-2007 10:48 AM

Mike Awesome and Ultimo Dragon are probably their biggest fuck ups in terms of not properly using people.

The One 03-10-2007 12:41 PM

Oh you know what, let the InVasion happen the way it did, what I would go back and change in terms of fuck ups is never ever even allow the mention of the idea Brand Split. That's what I would have done...

Indifferent Clox 03-10-2007 12:53 PM

I would have let Heyman run ECW.

Xero 03-10-2007 12:57 PM

I would have had Tazz be the one who hit Austin.

NeanderCarl 03-10-2007 01:54 PM

I would have had Jericho be the guy that run down Austin.

jindrak 03-10-2007 11:25 PM

The clusterfuck of that was known was Invasion.

WWECW

Not pushing Christian.

Vastardikai 03-11-2007 05:00 AM

One fuck-up? That's gonna be hard.

The Biggest Fuck-up I'd try to prevent that'd make the 'E drastically different? Not letting the Clique run roughshod over Vince backstage.

Hanso Amore 03-11-2007 06:31 AM

I would have never Killed the Sean O'haire push and gimmick!

One that I thought would have been said by now, and I think could have made way more money than the invasion if done right. Hell, this never Even Happened....

WWF Champ Hulk Hogan vs NWA Champ Ric Flair 1991......

The completely dropped the Ball on Flairs WWF Run.

Jeritron 03-11-2007 07:53 AM

For me theres 3 big ones, that were probably the 3 biggest blown oppurtunities in WWF/E history. Even though the new ECW is quickly becoming the 4th horsemen on the elite list of fuckups.

1) Who hit Austin? Blown. Could have been anyone from Tazz to Jericho, or fuckin Kurt Angle but NOT Rikishi.

2) The Invasion. Don't have time for a 10 page essay.

3) The NWO. If you blinked you missed this one, and it was probably for the better. Dream angle, dream time for it, all the right resources. Ever part of it blown.

I'd have to say the invasion sticks out as one I'd have to pick. I'd have had Shane still do the buy, and still do the fued with Vince at WM17. But I would have had them settle their differences after that match. Something that would make you think, okay he's just gonna leave it alone and not bring in WCW.

Then once they could have signed Goldberg and Bischoff I'd have brought it in with Shane bringing in Bischoff's WCW to invade.
I wouldnt involve Nash Hogan or Hall in the invasion because of saving them for NWO, or perhaps they'd have been used for that already. But with Booker T, DDP, Goldberg, Steiner, Bischoff and a midcard WCW wealth, you'd have enough. Only thing that would stink would be waiting on bringing in Booker T. But it would have been worth the wait both for business and his career.

I'd have left the ECW element out of it completely. Since you'd have time before the well executed WCW invasion you could have done the ECW subinvasion stable before all of this. This way you could build RVD and Tazz without having been overshadowed by the crappy alliance.

And more importantly, I'd do jumps that made sense. Austin wasn't bad, because they needed him. But why have Angle and shit jumping sides. Have guys like Big Show jumping sides. And when Rock comes back to save WWF, have a guy like Benoit come back to save WCW (he'd be back if it was postponed). HHH coming back to jump to WCW would make a lot of sense, and then you could have Austin stay put in home camp.

RP 03-11-2007 08:05 AM

Some of these, like this one

probably looked like they dropped the ball , but i'm sure in alot of these cases there were some sort of disagreement with who should win and how. I remember the whole Wrestlmania 8 deal were they were looking for the #1 contender deal. I'm sure it was probably suppose to be Hogan vs Flair infact i think read a story here involving that whole thing, but i forget what exactly it was about. But i'm sure problems like that happen alot that change some storylines and make you scratch your head.

Jeritron 03-11-2007 08:48 AM

I would have told Sid never to hit the buffet before the match.

Hanso Amore 03-11-2007 09:16 AM

Considering Sid shit his pants at a house show and there is no real proof of it happening outside of someone saying "They heard a story about it", That is all some of you talk about

Jeritron 03-11-2007 09:23 AM

chill

Just John 03-11-2007 09:25 AM

Pumping Eddie G. full of 'roids

Hanso Amore 03-11-2007 10:18 AM

Paul Roma as the 4th Horseman.

Evil Vito 03-11-2007 12:04 PM

Definately the InVasion. All they had to do was wait to bring in the big names. And as mentioned I would have been careful with the switches. Honestly, Angle joining the Alliance was probably the least sensible move in history. I would have had Jericho make the jump to WCW instead...not only would it make him more of a main eventer, but it would make sense as he himself was a former WCW competitor.

Then sometime during the middle of the war, I would have brought in ECW as its own entity, none of that Alliance crap. Like in real life, I'd probably have it start off with the same guys that started it: Heyman, RVD, Dreamer, Dudleyz, Tazz, Raven, Credible, Storm, Awesome, Rhino. Then you can throw in other former ECW guys like Spike, Lynn, Stevie, and you can also sign up others...ECW would be seen as a huge underdog to the casual fan, but that would only force the writers to establish some new main eventers (if it were up to me, I'd make sure to establish RVD and Tazz as main eventers to the WWF audience)

Hell, if they had waited I could easily see this going on for over a year. Then when the nWo came in, it could even act as its own entity after all that, making it a 4 way war.

Jeritron 03-11-2007 12:14 PM

It'd be great to see a strong WCW fighting with WWF, and then the incorporation of ECW and nWo.
Thats an interesting idea you propose about bring them in and making it a 4 way battle. Its risky, but with the proper booking and attention paid to it, it could have been classic.
Once getting all 4 into the mix you could have some serious storylines and cross fueds going on. It screams subplot. Which is good. If you did it correctly, you could bring the whole thing to one big climax. Perhaps even have WCW and nWo become the alliance after all, as one big heel war against Vince and Heyman's alliance for whats good and holy in the world of wrestling.
Once this huge war comes to an end, make sure to go immediately into brand extension. Don't fuck around with the shit they did before reforming a company that had clearly been turned upside down.

Johnny Vegas 03-11-2007 12:16 PM

Make sure Katie Vick was NEVER thought of by anybody on that writing staff. That angle was just terribly fucked up. Destroyed whatever credibility Kane had and made Triple H and the WWE look like they were VERY desperate.

Joe E Legend.

Jeritron 03-11-2007 12:56 PM

Tazz is clearly the biggest fuck up

Mr. JL 03-11-2007 01:23 PM

more like the shortest...

Innovator 03-11-2007 02:15 PM

-would have kept Austin face at Wrestlemania X-7

-given Tazz a better initial run, just mowing down people left and right

-wwe vs. wcw invasion, with ecw being the renegade faction, leading to a triple threat war games

-No Hogan 2002 title run, killed HHH's comeback

Jonster 03-11-2007 02:28 PM

I personally believe the one key thing to change would be Ultimo Dragon slipping during his Wrestlemania XX entrance.

Would've started a chain of (now non-)events that would have been too awesome to describe.

NeanderCarl 03-11-2007 02:29 PM

Nah, HHH's comeback was killed by the fact that it was obvious to everyone that he wasn't even half the wrestler he was before the layoff.

Savio 03-11-2007 02:41 PM

-Invasion

-Saving Nashes quad

He should have been turned heel IMMEDIATELY.

Splaya 03-12-2007 02:21 AM

LOL

Randy Orton taking the belt off of Chris Benoit.

First of all, in a sense it killed everything both men were working towards. It killed Benoit and everything he had done from Mania to that point and it in a sense instantly turned Orton face and ruined that.

Jeritron 03-12-2007 02:50 AM

Yea it was a bullshit move. Killed 2 main event careers with upward momentum.

Plus as great as Benoit was and is, he shouldn't have been used to put over Orton. He was booked as a champion that played second fiddle STILL to the HHH/HBK storylines. Benoit should have dropped the belt to a bigger, establsihed star who down the road should have put Orton over. In 2005 at the soonest.
No excuse for turning him face.
