Okay we are on the second day now and what a performance from Ireland today! Dead and buried with Zimbabwe in pursuit of 222 and a yorker missed on 221 allowed our wicky to stump him and take the draw! what a performance!
Who are everyone's picks? got to be Australia really. Windies might have a surprise shout. |
Australia would have to be the faves altho they lost 5 in a row leading upto it, so they aren't unbeatable. There are lots of players lacking experience so they could get rolled in the later periods.
SA are a great side on paper, but when the cup's up for grabs they always manage to find a hilarious way to choke/get kicked out. The winner of the SA/Aus match should end up winning the tournament. Sri Lanka are my smokey, they have a solid middle order & some bowlers (& a chucker) who can do some serious damage. However, they can't field for shit, so that could cost them. WI usually do better than everybody expects in these types of tournaments, so they could go a fair way. NZ will probably make the Semi Finals but I don't think they will make it to the last stage. Altho they do have the slow bowlers who could help them out. If Oram fires then they will be dangerous. England are an average team but if Freddy, Collingwood & Pietersen fire then they should put enough runs on the board to win a few games. Pakistan are shit and a bunch of cheats. India aren't as good as they were 4 years ago. Everybody else should enjoy their holidays & smoke as much pot as they can get their hands on while over there. |

Personally, I'd say the cup is all about Australia. South Africa have a chance, and new Zealand are an outside chance, and Sri Lanka might b able to pull something off, but really, I only see two decent sides in this world cup |
NZ beats Kenya, so at least there wasn't another Upset, we book our spot into the Super 8.
We just finished beating the aussies 3-0 chasing down 330+ each time, so if we end up against them I'll feel pretty confident we can do it. |

Good on Ireland for making it to the next round, but they will get flogged by everybody in the Super 8's. If NZ played against everybody else the same way that they play against Australia then they'd win the cup easily.

I know this is just a conspiracy theory but i've got a feeling Inzy and some other Pakistan players are the suspects in Bobs murder here...bit of a coincidence that he retired straight after and i'm looking at that emotion he showed at the end of his innings as guilt more than stress now.
As for today, looks like England are gonna beat Kenya with ease. |

England really struggle to get a win over Ireland.
Crowd attendance has been crap, and with games that should of been like India v Pakistan now being games like Bangladesh v Ireland, it isn't going to be improving any time soon. A solid performance v Bangladesh and Ireland for us will be a quick ticket to the semis. |
In a 10,000 seat stadium and they still can’t even look like filling it – apparently tickets start at $90US, no bugger can afford them. People want to go but they can’t. The ICC should step in and make the buggers either drop the price of give them away.

With all the money they're making from TV rights it'd make sense just to give the tickets away or sell them at local prices. It'd make the TV spectacle better at least.

The ICC will be making so much money from media & TV rights that they wouldn't care how many people are turning up to games.
As for the Super 8's, looks as though Australia & Sri Lanka will make it through and WI, Ireland & Bangladesh will get kicked out. Leaves England, SA & NZ fighting for 3 spots. NZ have plenty of games up their sleeve & SA have an easy run home, so it looks unlikely that England will make it through, unless SA choke. |

lol, this is the most fucked up world cup ever.
We'd better beat Ireland tomorrow, or whenever it is. We lost to Bangladesh in the warmups, so hopefully that's our Minnow Bogey gone. Looking forward to our next 3 games after this one, Sri lanka, South Africa and Australia. Will be a good test for the Semis, considering I would of thought they would of been the other 3 teams in them. |
