What is your favorite undercard title?

Vote and explain why!

BigDaddyCool 03-21-2007 10:50 PM

Me, I always like the European title, it was so dumb, but the best wrestlers acctaully defended it, unlike the IC which moron's defend for the most part.

Mr. JL 03-21-2007 10:55 PM

Fav undercard title: ECW World Television Championship

Explaination: Rob Van Dam

The One 03-21-2007 11:14 PM

WCW US - Why? Because it looked bas ass. It was not uncommon for a former World Champion to win it. And it was a VERY legit secondary title. Historically, it could be argued it was better booked than the WCW World Belt.

ClockShot 03-21-2007 11:17 PM

I went with the European. Alot of low card guys had a shot at it and could be credible champs. I see the IC title as like maybe 3 or 4 guys on the roster could hold.

The One 03-21-2007 11:17 PM

If we went back and included titles from the NWA, my all time favorite title of all time, including World would be the NWA World Television Championship....oh god... What a Championship...

Juan 03-21-2007 11:17 PM

For a while it seemed like the only one that actually meant anything was the ECW TV title.

My how the times have changed.

Kane Knight 03-21-2007 11:27 PM

NWA championship. With great midcarders like Christian Cage, Jeff Jarrett, and older talent like Sting, who can go wrong?

Juan 03-21-2007 11:33 PM

^ LMAO

I actually voted WCW Cruiserweight because I think it needs some representation. It was the single biggest reason I would tune into Nitro every week. There were some seriously amazing matches there. WCW Television is underrated too, I think.

Juan 03-21-2007 11:42 PM

I'll give you that one, there was some great competitors in WCW's Cruiserweight division.

Not including this douche...

Cruiserweights were one of the things that got me back into wrestling in the 90s. That, if for no other reason, is enough to give credit to WCW.

Still don't think it was a great title, but that doesn't mean much

I don't remember Jay Leno as a cruiser...

Juan 03-21-2007 11:55 PM

Yeah, after Hogan beat his ass, he dropped a few lbs. and the rest is history....

ECW TV Title. Explanation: RVD vs Jerry Fuckin Lynn

Skippord 03-22-2007 01:43 AM

WCW cruiserweight

because La Parka could have won it

FakeLaser 03-22-2007 01:44 AM

Everyone knows the IC title is the best title.

Jeritron 03-22-2007 03:25 AM

Intercontinental Title has always been my favorite title belt all time, let alone undercard. So yea.
Though it's fallen on rough times lately with Umaga. Thought Jeff had a pretty respectable run as IC champion.
It has its ups and downs lately, and I hope that when brand extension ends it can be restored to full glory.

It's just such a cool belt to me because of who has held it. Anyone who has won the world title and didn't get over as IC champion before, pretty much sucked. I mean, the Hogans Brocks and Takers are guys who had it handed to them because they were huge. Hate to mention Taker there because I love him.

But the IC belt is the workers belt. It's the belt for guys who climb to greatness and are so damn entertaining they break into the main event.

Savage, Bret, HBK, Austin, Rock, HHH, Jericho, Angle, Benoit

Recently you've had Edge, RVD, and of course Orton

It's kinda the belt that can solidify you, and your greatness as an IC champion can't be taken away even if you fuck up or get sabotaged in the main event. It's what got you there.

Also gotta love that it's a belt thats been held by guys who never made the main event, but thanks to the IC belt were able to achieve greatness.
Roddy Piper, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Steamboat, Razor Ramon, Goldust. Even guys like Jeff Jarret, The Road Dogg, Jeff Hardy and Christian all were enjoyable IC champions to me.

It's just the best belt ever.

El Fangel 03-22-2007 03:37 AM

Hardcore Title - Reason, the matches were always exciting, the 24/7 rule made unpredictability which right now the WWE is lacking big time, and you didn't have to be an established star, or have alot of other title reigns before you won this. Also some of my favorite matches Raven vs Kane vs Show at WM17 was awesome, the TLT with Steve Blackman, and Jeff Hardy vs RVD ladder match.

best post I've ever made. Pissed at WWE.com for not having pics of a few champs

WCW US title. I just loved it, i dont know why.

Mr. JL 03-22-2007 03:55 AM

Can any of you people who voted for the WCW US title name just off by hand... ONE CLASSIC WCW US title bout?

Mr. JL 03-22-2007 03:57 AM

I mean, I am sure there are a few good ones if I looked back and did some homework, but the WWF IC, WCW Cruiser & TV, ECW TV titles have matches that INSTANTLY pop into my mind... I cannot think of a sinlge WCW US title match that strikes me as memorable just off the top of my head.

Benoit vs Booker T in WCW.

Seriously, I don't know. The US title can't hold a candle to the IC strap in my mind.

Jeritron 03-22-2007 04:02 AM

Didn't booker and benoit have a series for that belt, or was that the TV title?

Mr. JL 03-22-2007 04:02 AM

The Benoit-Booker matches were over the WCW Television title.

El Fangel 03-22-2007 04:03 AM

It saddens me that maybe 1 out those last 8 will ever be in a decent IC feud again (Benoit)

Jeritron 03-22-2007 04:07 AM

I take pride in that collage I made haha. A little upset I couldn't get a picture of Orton with the IC title or a decent one of DX HHH.

El Fangel 03-22-2007 04:09 AM

Orton was IC champ I really liked, he seemed to fit the IC title so well, him as WC pissed me off. Also I just read on WWE.com that HHH founded DX which I find kind of funny, because it doesn't mention Micheals at all. Kind of off-topic but I found it kind of funny.

Jeritron 03-22-2007 04:13 AM

Lying to a whole new generation.

I always loved that promo between HBK and HHH when HBK became commisioner. Because they both made excellent points that were semi shoot about DX.

"You rode my coattails all the way to what you're doing now, and if it wasn't for me you'd still be nobody. I think you owe me, if for nothing else I would say gimmick infrigement" - HBK

"You've got it all wrong. I seem to remember that it was ME, who was carrying your broken ass around when you were prancing around with a belt that you had no business carrying." - HHH

Hardcore title started off damn strong. After Foley dropped it and it became sanctioned, Al Snow, Holly and especially Road Dogg helped make it a real title. It had some memorable matches and moments during that winter.

Then came the 24/7 rule. One of the most underrated things ever, it was cheesy and gimmicky but classic as hell. Highly entertaining and turned midcard filler into something interesting.

Then came the hardcore title's best period in my mind...the Jeff Hardy/RVD fued. This was great. It was a legitimate title fued with a regular bell to bell title and no logner the 24/7 stuff, which was great but had run its course. It was time to change back to this style.
RVD himself said that he'd have preferred to be showcased in the hardcore title division, since it would allow for ECW style matches with falls count anywhere and extreme rules. It'd allow for him to use a chair and defend a title using weapons and taking it to the crowd, but still be withing WWE standards. This way he could do this regularly and not just when the stipulations provided. Then he could have stayed there and done his thing weekly and put together a long title reign and have real fueds like in ECW.

However Jeff was the only other one who really fit with him in this division, and there just wasn't enough to work with to make this division large enough and legitimate to have a place on the card. Not to mention brand extension splitting things up and making a lot of extra titles obsolete.
It's a shame this didn't take off, but because of that, lack of WWE support I suppose, and just overally lowered credibility and serious interest in that belt due to the 24/7 rule, the belt just never got over when it returned to non-gimmick bell to bell action with legitimate fueds.
a shame really.
