Bow down to Pantera!

They are your lord and master.

ct2k 03-28-2007 06:41 AM

By no means the best, and when Phil Anselmo talks I wanna strangle myself, but they cracked out some megatunes regardless.

TGSTK has gotta be one of my favourite 5 songs ever

Funky Fly 03-28-2007 06:54 AM

Pantera is not very good. Why do you like so much crappy metal, D-Mac?

Pantera bitch-slap you to oblivion!

They were pretty good back in the day.

Least we still have Down.

ct2k 03-28-2007 01:10 PM

Problem with post-glam Pantera is they seemed to put atleast 3 or 4 filler tracks on each album. Personally apart from stuff like Opeth or Katatonia I like my metal albums fairly short and sweet 40 mins tops. Thinking Deicide, Reign in Blood, Alters of Madness, Winds of Creation, None so Vile, Focus etc

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-28-2007 01:40 PM

Far beyond Driven does, at some point, begin to drag. Then again, it is 70-odd mins long. Only so much hate you can stand before it becomes samey. Their cover of Planet caravan is still tasty as hell though.

ct2k 03-28-2007 01:53 PM

Yeah great cover, they coulda chopped 4 or 5 tracks from that album though

Kane Knight 03-28-2007 02:37 PM

Funky Fly, newest in a long line of music conformists.

Stickman 03-28-2007 03:00 PM

I love Walk.

Silent 03-28-2007 03:11 PM

I don't listen to them a lot, but I have their greatest hits album and it does kick some ass.

You anger me, Sir Fly.

BigDaddyCool 03-28-2007 04:43 PM

Pantera is good, Slayer is better.

ct2k 03-28-2007 04:53 PM

Yeah word, Reign in Blood is still the greatest metal album ever produced, and basically always will be.

Skippord 03-29-2007 12:58 AM

Mercyful Fate's Melissa is the greatest metal album ever produced

Call me what you will, I just think that most of their music isn't that great. They have the odd song here and there that I like, but that's it.

I linked the site because it's a really good way to find rare stuff that's not even being pressed anymore, lesser known (sometimes totally unkown for that matter) or bands of a similar nature to what you already listen to.

Believe it or not, I am actually helping him, not just shitting on Pantera. :foc:

Impact! 03-29-2007 07:00 AM

Pantera are gods :foc:

I just came *this* close to neg-repping you for that comment. *THIS* close.

But the link is quite swish, so I have to forgive.

Tread carefully

Actually, it's not your talk about Pantera, it's your "READ WHAT'S ON THIS SITE ITS ON THE SITE ITS GOOD" Mentality that was what triggered it.

ct2k 03-29-2007 10:56 AM

Funky and KK I'm sorry but your little ethnic-minority bustup is adorable:love:

Kane Knight 03-29-2007 11:14 AM

Hey Funky. Should we team up and kill whitey?

Funky Fly 03-29-2007 04:12 PM

I'll get the spears, you bring the post-slaughter peace pipes.

Kane Knight 03-29-2007 05:31 PM

How

Pantera are good, but not great. I have all their albums (including glam ones :)) but if I could pick one I think their greatest hits covers all the songs I like. :y:

Stickman 03-30-2007 01:32 PM

Pantera and Slayer may be the most over rated metal bands of all time.

FakeLaser 03-30-2007 02:47 PM

BOW DOWN TO SONIC YOUTH

ron the dial 03-30-2007 03:01 PM

Oh man, I'm going to see them play in Chicago. The entire Daydream Nation album

I should probably bite my tongue here, but this is coming from the big Metallica fan.

whatttttttttttttttt i want to go to that.

ron the dial 03-30-2007 05:25 PM

July 13. Pitchfork Music Festival. Union Park. $15.

come over

FakeLaser 03-30-2007 05:27 PM

I was gonna see them in the city but it sold out by the time I found out about it. Explosions In The Sky also sold out before I found out about it.

ron the dial 03-30-2007 05:29 PM

The only show that I have ever not been able to attend due to it being sold out is (oddly enough) Explosions in the Sky. I was super pissed because I didn't find out about it until about two weeks before hand. Jumped on this thing about a month ago, because there's no fucking way I'm missing them play Daydream Nation in it's entirety.

FakeLaser 03-30-2007 05:31 PM

I can't believe it. Daydream Nation in it's entirety? HOW DID I MISS THAT

ron the dial 03-30-2007 05:33 PM

Don't think that they're doing it anywhere near New Jersey/New York. Looks like the only US dates are in Chicago and various places in California. Other than that they are over in Europe for what appears to be the rest of the year.

Oh, and to relate this all to the topic Sonic Youth is much better than Pantera.

FakeLaser 03-30-2007 05:34 PM

They were in New York in February. I missed it.

ron the dial 03-30-2007 05:36 PM

:( Sorry to hear that, Mr. RZA.
