yo seriously

The 300 was pretty shitty, come on guys.

Downunder 03-28-2007 05:10 PM

Yeah, I didn't think anything could be more overrated than The Departed, but 300 is now the most overrated movie in TPWW history.

ct2k 03-28-2007 05:25 PM

Dunno, Downunder the Motion Picture was pretty absurdly terrible

Avenger 03-28-2007 06:30 PM

300 looks kinda crap. Is it not all CGI??

Downunder 03-28-2007 06:36 PM

No, it's live action with a green screen background.

Mr. Nerfect 03-28-2007 07:22 PM

Historical epics don't really interest me. They seem to bog down into cliches and too much sombre dialogue and heartless action scenes. If I'm going to go on a long journey with a movie, I want it to give me new experiences. But that's just me.

I even fell asleep through Gladiator. :-\

FakeLaser 03-28-2007 07:31 PM

I thought it was good, and I generally do not enjoy this genre.

I haven't been sucking it's dick though. It was a good film but by no means a great film.

I do yell "THIS.. IS.. SPRINGFIELD" at people now though.

Downunder 03-28-2007 09:58 PM

LOL Rza

YOUR Hero 03-29-2007 12:06 AM

It was OK, nothing like the build up was. Glad I saw it in the theaters, but yeah, no meat to it, all sauce.

El Fangel 03-29-2007 12:15 AM

Yeah, But sauce is still tasty, although bland at some points.

Fignuts 03-29-2007 02:02 AM

Worth a movie ticket.

Buzzkill 03-29-2007 03:43 AM

Was also pretty high and that will skew my opinion on a movie. So my critique is not 100% legit

DaveWadding 03-29-2007 03:43 AM

I got my money's worth (free tix) but it wasnt THAT great.

Ah right, that actually explains a lot cos I thought something all CGI would be bollocks.

For what it's worth, 300 is a comic book.

Frank Miller wrote a comic that used Thermopylae as a backdrop, but is about as historical as Stargate was. You know, thousands of years ago thre Greeks (Egyptians) existed, and that's about it.

On the other hand, it has the proseltysing, poorly written and inorganic speeches which are trademarked of the same movies you're complaining about, and it has the shitiest action sequences I've ever seen. I never thought I'd be BORED by a bunch of guys killing large exotic animals in a fight.

I know it's a Frank Miller comic, and that the myth of the battle varies depending on the source you get it from, but I was merely referring to the style of movie. Guys in the past going into battle with swords and shields, with an occasional hot trophy wife making an appearance and looking concerned for her honourable man.

The whole style of story is just too cliched for me, right down to the mindless action.

Kane Knight 04-01-2007 01:09 AM

Don't worry, it's not cliché. Not even inspired enough to be clichéd.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-01-2007 12:57 PM

nah I'm pretty sure the testosterone levels of that movie made me love it unbelievably. As a male who loves violence and bravado it was perfect for me.

SPARTANS WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION!
"AOOOOOH AOOOOOOOOH AOOOOOOOOOH"

RP 04-03-2007 03:53 PM

My favorite line. The Spartan got his eye taken out in a battle and Leonidas goes something like " Will you be alright with that scratch on your eye " and the spartan says " Yes i'll be fine, thankfully god blessed me with another one."

lol

I thought it was a spare, specifically. One of the amusing lines.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-04-2007 12:43 AM

I am pretty sure I could possibly be bi-sexual...I've never got a hard on from a man before...but I do pay particular attention to male bodies...so it's a possibility :O
