MVP

I am calling it right now. MVP is World Champ within 2 years.

I just watched WM 23 today (We are delayed a few days in Iraq) and From his entrance, to his amazing match with Benoit he reeled me in. He looks goofy but he has a great character, and he plays it well. When he does his Elbow drop with the "Ballin'" free throw shot before it, he had the crowd in his hands. Great Charisma. Everyone has said he is ok in the ring, but I really think he held his own with the Best Technical Wrestler on the Roster. I know Benoit makes people look good, but MVP was on par with him. A Fued with Benoit his perfect to help him grow and get over. Benoit is a guy that even when he isnt in the Main event is still thought of as a Main Eventer. The fans love him and know he can go, so he is a good guy to help get young guys over. Fueding over a US title doesn't hurt him, and makes then look better. Alot like Kane. Losses or not, Kane is still thought of highly by the fans (hence why he jobs alot, because he still looks strong and puts over talent) very few guys can do that. The IWC may see it as Kane and Benoit jobbing, but the average fan sees it as "Wow, that guy beat Benoit and Kane"

Wow, I got off subject. Any way, MVP looked real good in his match, and his entrance was the hotness. The WWE needs to have those Cheerleaders there, ALWAYS. Working the sports themes into his gimmick is cool too. I have not marked for anyone is years, and I am a MVP mark!

RP 04-03-2007 01:50 PM

Out of every wrestler at WrestleMania, I was most impressed with him. First time i've really seen him too.

I love the Ballin move too. Probably my favorite move just cause its cool you know.

Theo Dious 04-03-2007 01:50 PM

I will not suffer a World Heavyweight Champion who ha been to prison.

Dammit. :foc:

Jura 04-03-2007 01:55 PM

I liked the angle they gave him before WM23. The one where he's beating champs from all over the world like Lichtenstein and Ethiopia.

Theo Dious 04-03-2007 02:00 PM

They need to have him take on the World Champion of Antarctica and have him up against a guy dressed as a penguin.

MLW 04-03-2007 02:04 PM

For some reason he makes me think of the rock...don't know why...

Blitz 04-03-2007 05:29 PM

Yeah, his Mania match really impressed me. I hope he gets a bigger push.

Jeritron 04-03-2007 05:41 PM

That power ranger costume and the crappy T.O gimmick has to go though.

Dave Youell 04-03-2007 05:48 PM

I agree, the guy seems to have the total package.

Londoner 04-03-2007 05:59 PM

His mic work is what entertains me most, he seems to 'get it' in that area. Didn't see WM so i can't comment on his match, but it's funny how everyone here was saying how shit he was and how they felt sorry for Benoit having to face him..notice I was not one of those people.

BigDaddyCool 04-03-2007 06:00 PM

He is good. I was impressed with his match.

Road Warrior 04-03-2007 06:01 PM

He Needs to get a more exciting finisher. I've always hated that neckbreaker, it looks so retarted.

Volchok 04-03-2007 07:54 PM

Yeah MVP impressed the hell out of me. Really stepped up his game at WM. MVP is on the rise.

addy2hotty 04-03-2007 08:00 PM

He needs to lose the 'poor mans Rock' schtick. Get rid of that Peoples Elbow rip-off and let him wrestle and the world (by that I mean upper mid card) is the limit.

BigDaddyCool 04-03-2007 08:03 PM

I was amazed a how unboring he made Benoit seem.

Mr. JL 04-03-2007 08:48 PM

I am still unsure about MVP. He did surprize me at WrestleMania with his match against Chris Benoit.

If he can continue to pull out more good work like that from now on and ditch his 'power ranger' suit then maybe I'll think more highly of him.

He reminds me more of Cuba Gooding Jr from Jerry Maguire personally

Champion of Europa 04-03-2007 09:03 PM

He impressed me.

The Genius 04-03-2007 09:42 PM

he needs new ring attaire

Blitz 04-03-2007 10:01 PM

BTW anyone got a good copy of his entrance music.

Bad Company 04-03-2007 10:07 PM

I've seen him live, and my brother is a big fan, and he really was awesome in the ring when I saw him. Haven't seen much of him on TV, but people on here were kinda down on him and I didn't know why. I think he's excellent.

Good shit jura.

Mr. Nerfect 04-03-2007 11:52 PM

I've been fondish of the guy for some time; I've always thought he's had the goods. Just recently is when all the great reports about him have started coming out. Apparently he and Benoit have been going 20+ minutes at house shows in great matches. I actually think they'll have MVP beat Benoit this week on SmackDown! in one of those matches.

Another thing I read about MVP, I'm not sure if it's true or not: Apparently the guy can pull off a springboard shooting star press.

Mr. Nerfect 04-03-2007 11:54 PM

As for his ring attire? I think the black and blue variation he has is actually really good. I wouldn't mind it if he did a Kurt Angle and always wore it with the straps down, or even if he got his attire designed to be flashy and what-not, but in short design.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2007 12:17 AM

I just Wikipedia'd MVP, and it turns out his springboard shooting star press is called "Live from the 305".

Another interesting revelation on the site was that MVP often pulls out his own version of the Crippler Crossface, which he calls TTB, which either stands for "Take it To the Bank" or "Tribute To Benoit". That's pretty cool.

MVP should bust it out in his feud with Chris Benoit. I'd also like to see Carlito bust out his Figure Four against Ric Flair. Maybe they'll go interpromotional and have Ric Flair and Chris Benoit team up on PPV against Carlito and MVP at one event? That would be a pretty nice match.

Blitz 04-04-2007 12:18 AM

I wish he'd use that Capoeira kick I've heard about it.

Yeah, apparently that's called "Malicious Intent". It must be a pretty sweet kick if he places faith in it over a springboard shooting star press. :y:

The guy is reminding me of a cross between Kurt Angle and The Rock. Another point to chalk up to Kurt Angle: MVP has a brother who is wrestling. Victor Imperial Porter, or VIP for short. He worked a match in Booker T's promotion.

Carlito, who I mentioned before, also has a brother. Wouldn't it be weird if Carlito Colon, Eddie Colon, MVP and VIP formed some kind of stable? Worse things have happened.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2007 12:23 AM

Yeah, it needs to be said: I'm pumped to see MVP on SmackDown!. :y:

thats what his character was originally based on, obviously.

I like MVP tho. Good charisma, great mic skills but i was never too sure about his wrestling abilities. Wrestlemania showed that he is a really good wrestler, good stuff!

Him and Kennedy aremajor reasons why I watch Smackdown

AdrianM 04-04-2007 03:10 AM

oh yeah, also...MVP,best entrance music in the wwe

Skippord 04-04-2007 05:50 AM

I demand Victor Imperial Porter in the WWE

Hopefully a certain VP for TR stops doing LSD and realises that VIP is needed for the SD on Fri-D for WWE, where he can join MVP.

M-A-G 04-04-2007 06:49 AM

If he pulls out matches like he did with Benoit on a consistent basis and keeps up with the showmanship side of his character, he just might, MIGHT wiggle his way to the upper-mid card. He SERIOUSLY needs to lose that Overdrive move, though.

Mr. Nerfect 04-04-2007 06:55 AM

I think he should use the Malicious Intent as kind of a secondary finisher, and start busting out the TTB. A few missed Live from the 305 spots would be sweet, too. :y:

I can't wait for his next match against Benoit.

RottingFreak 04-04-2007 07:02 AM

The guy is too flashy. He can sell well tho' that and he looks like he knows his stuff in the ring.

M-A-G 04-04-2007 07:08 AM

I wouldn't say he knows his stuff as most of his work has been kind of bland which is why I want to see him try to work matches like WM with guys like Kane or Undertaker or Batista. Yes, he looked good with Benoit but who doesn't? If MVP himself is capable of making both himself and his opponent look amazing, that will be the real testament.

Hanso Amore 04-04-2007 09:18 AM

I like his Under Armor/Reebok inspired outfit he wore at WM. its weird, But so were the Rock's boots. Just helps him stick out from the crowd. His entrance was the best of the night BY FAR!. Fuck the Mustang, Cheerleaders!

Skippord 04-04-2007 09:24 AM

I liked Kane's Pentagram

Did you watch the match? I'm the biggest fan of Benoit but even i can say that MVP made/carried that match. MVP was fantastic in that match. It wasnt a case of Benoit carrying him. If anything MVP put Benoit over in that match.
