Ex-pro wrestler hurt in fight

A former professional wrestler was seriously hurt in a fight outside a
Hilton Head Island bar on Friday night, a Beaufort County sheriff's report
states.

Sean Christopher Haire, 36, who won the World Championship Wrestling tag
team titles in 2000 and 2001, told deputies he was attacked while walking up
to the Hilton Head Brewing Co., according to the report.

Haire said he was going to the aid of a friend who was attacked by three
unknown males when a 28-year-old Hilton Head man punched him in his left
eye, knocking him into nearby bushes.

The blow fractured Haire's orbital lobe in three places and resulted in other
fractures to his face and skull, the report states. Vision in his left eye is impaired,
possibly permanently, and his injuries will require extensive plastic surgery, doctors
told deputies.

Haire has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Juan Brantley on assault charges,
according to sheriff's Capt. Toby McSwain. Witnesses to the incident dispute Haire's
allegations and say Brantley was acting in self defense. Haire's roommate said Thursday
Haire's lawyers had instructed him not to talk about the incident.

Dave Robertson, general manager of the Hilton Head Brewing Co., said Haire had on
several occasions tried to start a fight with Brantley. Robertson and an employee of
the bar, who asked not to be named, said Haire came into the bar to start a fight with
Brantley and was kicked out prior to the dispute outside.

In an earlier report filed with the Sheriff's Office, Brantley told deputies Haire threatened
to beat him up at another island bar on March 17. Assault allegations have previously been
made against Haire to the Sheriff's Office, according to reports. The outcome of those
cases was not immediately clear Thursday.

Haire, a Hilton Head High School graduate, began wrestling in WCW in 2000 and later
for World Wrestling Entertainment after its owner, Vince McMahon, bought WCW from
Turner Broadcasting in 2001.

He wrestled as Sean O'Haire and called his finishing move the "Seanton Bomb," a diving flip
where his back struck a prone opponent on the mat. He left wrestling in 2004 to focus on
mixed martial arts fighting in Japan and recently had been training locally, according to a fan
Web site.

Goddamnit, and I just repped you for the "If Orton does a rest hold, we riot" sign idea!

Linkbowler 04-06-2007 12:17 PM

He's not telling you anything that you don't already know.

Theo Dious 04-06-2007 12:18 PM

IT WASN'T... HIS... FAU-

Sorry, wrong gimmick.

Afterlife 04-06-2007 12:23 PM

Stand back -- there's a Haire-icane, oh never mind. Fuck. :nono:

KingofOldSchool 04-06-2007 12:28 PM

I guess he's SOL...and you all know what THAT means.

Theo Dious 04-06-2007 12:29 PM

Spending some time in jail will do wonders for his career. Look what it's done for <s>Nailz</s> <s>Nathan Jones</s> MVP.

M-A-G 04-06-2007 12:30 PM

How is this different from his MMA fights?

Afterlife 04-06-2007 12:34 PM

He didn't botch a victory backflip? Oh...or was that rhetorical?

If this guy that knocked him ( the fuck ) out, weighs 30 pounds or more, less then him, Haire loses his man card. End of discussion.

Theo Dious 04-06-2007 02:22 PM

Unless it turns out that this guy was some kind of MMA champion, then I agree.

The Naitch 04-06-2007 02:24 PM

straight into the bushes

KayfabeMan 04-06-2007 02:33 PM

LoL, A Haire in the Bushes.

Who'da thunk it?

:shifty:

The One 04-06-2007 02:34 PM

LOL.

Mr. JL 04-06-2007 02:42 PM

LOL

Mr. JL 04-06-2007 02:47 PM

Man, O'Haire got fucked up

The Naitch 04-06-2007 02:49 PM

I wonder how he got attacked though

Was he punched out of nowhere from behind or was there a face to face confrontation before he got knocked (the fuck) out (straight into the bushes)

The Naitch 04-06-2007 02:50 PM

also lol at 3 on 1

Theo Dious 04-06-2007 02:50 PM

Where do I get the feeling that the whole "O'Haire in a cage" jokes are about to morph into "O'Haire in the bushes" jokes?

Chavo Classic 04-06-2007 03:09 PM

O'Haire in anything is instant comedy gold

Rammsteinmad 04-06-2007 06:03 PM

Damn. Sean O'Haire in my opinion is one of the biggest tragedies of pro wrestling. This guy is one of my fave wrestlers, but it all went pretty much downhill after WCW.

And now this... :nono:

Mr. Nerfect 04-06-2007 06:07 PM

It pisses me off when people turn against a guy they used to love. I remember the good ol' days when everyone used to be on O'Haire's dick.

Rammsteinmad 04-06-2007 06:34 PM

I still am. :shifty:

YOUR Hero 04-06-2007 08:55 PM

"please don't throw me in the briar patch!"

Pardeep 619 04-06-2007 10:58 PM

Man, O'Haire's re-debut vignette at Royall Rumble 2003 has to be possible the best of all time (aside from Los Guerrero's)... (Very pissed at the moment)

The man was and could be a great performer, on the mic and in the ring. The jokes about him have mostly stemmed from his appaling misuse... and now he is starting bar fights. Tragic.

Pardeep 619 04-07-2007 12:01 AM

O' Haire was shit in the ring... but the potential for his gimmick in 2003 was huge. Heck, the guy got a victory against Hogan.... (technically it was Mr America, but the ego is still the same)

RP 04-07-2007 03:10 AM

Yah then he tripped into a buffet and ate his way out.

Mr. Nerfect 04-07-2007 03:30 AM

Yeah, he did let himself go. :(

He should take some time away from fighting, get himself back into shape, and then go to TNA, or something.

Afterlife 04-07-2007 08:35 AM

....Or something.

BigDaddyCool 04-07-2007 10:39 AM

Outside of getting his ass kicked, what is Sean O'Haire up to these days?
