Did Bret ever sue?
I was just thinking, did Bret ever sue the WWF over the Screwjob? Since they technically breached his contract (because he had creative control), I would think there would have been legal repercussions.
|
Vince would've easily counter-sued with an assault charge.
|
Bret passed up his opportunity to sue them, instead choosing to knock Vince on his ass.
|
Wise choice.
|
Of course any choice Bret makes is a wise choice, Bret can do no wrong.
|
Change the record please.
|
Bet took the Stu Hart approach, as he called it. Settle things like a man.
|
Also, bret did not have total and complete control over his character, so there was no breach.

Wait what am I doing. Can we create a seperate Bret Hart whiney penis forum? |
Doesn't matter if he had creative control or not. Vince McMahon agreed a finish with him then double crossed him. Doesn't matter if it wss Bret Hart or Steve Lombardi. You don't do that.
|
Steve Lombardi wouldn't piss and moan about it for ten years. Neither would the Brawler's fans...
|
You cant sue for assault. You can press charges though.
|
Canadians aren't smart enough to sue anyone.

He'd probably lose, though. Verbal Contracts in wrestling.... Quote:

Try this... go to work tomorrow, and hand them your notice. Then, refuse to hand in your reports on time, or mop the floor, or serve the customers, or whatever the hell you do for a living. Refuse to fufill the wishes of your employer. Tell them you refuse to empty the bin because it is your hometown and somebody might see you doing it. Tell your bosses at McDonald's that you won't clean the toilets today because you have never missed a shift, you have a job lined up with Burger King and you don't want a rep as a toilet cleaner there, and the guy they are pairing you up with to clean the toilets once called you names. Your employer will probably march you right off their premises with an early pink slip and a kick up the arse. Bret just got the wrestling version of that. |
10 fucking years people, 10 years!

Here's the reality of the whole situation, Bret had reasonable creative control over the last 30 days of his deal so that he couldn't be unnecessarily buried on the way out. Bret wore a wire during the discussion with Vince that shows Vince told him one thing, lying to him. He then did another. Bret could easily have won because he had the legal terminology and proof he lied.
|
I'm so over this whole Bret Hart thing.
Actually, I've been over it for about 8 years now, some of you should join me. |
Strong words from someone with "WWF Attitude" as his avatar.
|
What's your point chump stain?
I'm over the entire Bret Hart/WWF situation. I'm over trying to figure out who was at fault. Nothing to do with my avatar or the WWF logo. |
Noobs.....FIGHT!
3 dots Vs 1! I'm being serious about this whole Bret thing, can't we have like 1 thread, there's at least 2 Bret threads every month, it basically discusses the exact same points each time because no new information about the incident has come out for 9 years. People are set in there way about this and I've never seen one person change there mind on the situation. One group thinks Bret should of just done what his boss asked of him The other thinks Bret was right to do what he wanted as he had creative control That's basically the black and white of it, people say the same old shit in every thread and nothing new, I really don't see what the point is anymore, how is saying the same thing every month going to change anything or anyone else's opinion on the screwjob? It happened, please move on. Or create a specific thread for Bret only discussions Or the already mentioned whiny penis thread |
You forgot the "I'm over it" section that classes as group three, including Vince and Shawn themselves.
Seriously, it's not about "moving on" or "getting over it", it's just discussing wrestling history and one of the biggest moments of the past decade. Without discussing the past I dare say there'll be a lot less to discuss on the forum... |

The Bret Hart discussion is in effect what came first, The Chicken or the Egg. |

Kid in the Back: That was over a hundred years ago! Get over it! Robert E. Lee had creative control, you know. :shifty: |
vince pwns all!
|
The only person who is "over it" is Bret Hart. It's everyone else who constantly brings it up.
|
Yeh, Bret's probably had enough things bad happen in his life with his family being divided, his brother dying, his father dying, his mother dying, getting divorced and suffering a stroke to contextualise the finish of a wrestling match a decade ago. WWE constantly revisits it and claims people need to get over it long past the point of tedium.
With that said, they havent actually mentioned it once since Bret joined the Hall of Fame. |
