Official Guitar Hero 3 thread

http://www.destructoid.com/guitar-he...e--30899.phtml

Kinda weird. Red Octane put something up on their website that said "Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007". But now it's gone. Odd.

So who knows.

Extreme Angle 04-10-2007 03:21 PM

Guitar Hero 3 this Fall
RedOctane FAQ may have spilled the beans.
by Hilary Goldstein

April 9, 2007 - Guitar Hero 3 is coming to PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii this fall. That according to Guitar Hero co-publisher RedOctane's site. In its FAQ section, RedOctane answers a common question: "When is Guitar Hero 2 (II) Coming? Will there be GH 2 for Wii, PS3, XBox, Xbox 360, etc?" The answer goes above and beyond the call of duty, announcing that Guitar Hero 3 is coming later this year for all major consoles.

The official answer reads:

"Guitar Hero 2 for Playstation 2 launched 11/7/2006, Xbox 360 launched 4/3/2007 and both items are shipping now. Please check www.guitarherogame.com and www.redoctane.com for the most rrent information.

Guitar Hero 3 for the Playstation 2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii are currently scheduled for release in the United States in Fall of 2007."

It should be noted that the FAQ answer, which numerous message board readers began linking to this evening, is not an official statement or announcement by co-publisher Activision or developer Neversoft. Activision and RedOctane could not be reached for comment at time of publish.

...It'll be cheaper than Rock Band...

It's gonna be a noisy 2008.

Funky Fly 04-12-2007 02:52 PM

Fall '07? Nice.

Shaggy 04-14-2007 01:25 AM

Im hoping to see some screenshots soon....perhaps some song confirmations...never to early to find out what tracks are on it. God knows I wasted all my time on those Guitar Hero forums.

SammyG 04-15-2007 02:49 AM

um. a friend of mine told me that his uncle, which works for the company that makes guitar hero, said that in GH3 you will be able to incorporate any song you have on your system into the game, and you'll be able to play it. ANY SONG YOU HAVE ON YOUR SYSTEM. If this is true, how fucking sick is that.

Blitz 04-15-2007 03:46 AM

That would mean that they'd never have to put out another version again. So I heavily doubt that.

If true, sucks for PS2 owners.

(IE Me :( )

Extreme Angle 04-15-2007 10:37 AM

Gonna piss GH2 then and just go for GH3 when that comes out,
also I wanted to see my new sig...

While that sounds like a good concept, it would essentially be pressing buttons at random. They have to map out the button layouts for each song to make it feel like you are actually playing a guitar. To generate that for any song would be complicated. First do detect when a guitar is being played within the song, then to make the map out for the level feel natural while playing it. Instead there will probably just be new songs you can download for each system which is much more likely.

Funky Fly 04-15-2007 03:39 PM

Yup ^

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2007 04:42 PM

And you need the master tracks for each song.

Blitz 04-15-2007 11:42 PM

PS2 should get like 20 extra songs to make up for no online :shifty:

Funky Fly 04-16-2007 12:05 AM

Yeah, dunno if they could fit it on the disc.

Blitz 04-16-2007 04:52 AM

Funky could you just stop crushing my dreams for like 4 minutes kthx.

Dave Youell 04-16-2007 09:37 AM

So that means a guitar that plugs into the Wii mote i guess. Hurrah!

Guitar Hero III will add online multiplayer, wireless
Next incarnation of the popular music game franchise will feature both co-operative and competitive online modes, and wireless guitar controllers.

On board a specially designed Guitar Hero rock bus in London today, RedOctane president and founder Kai Huang, confirmed details about the third instalment of the Guitar Hero game to GameSpot.

Firstly, Huang announced the game's platforms--as rumoured, it will indeed be coming to the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2, arriving in stores just before the end of year holidays. There will also be a DS version of the series, which will arrive "early next year."

The latest game will also boast new wireless controllers "so that fans can finally rock out in their living room and jump off their couches and do all that crazy rock star stuff." There will also be a variety of colours and a new design for the guitar controllers, along with some higher end options made to look and feel more like real guitars.

Like developer Harmonix's recently announced Rock Band, Guitar Hero III will also feature strong online elements. There will be both co-operative and competitive online modes, along with extra downloadable content.

Huang commented, "We've got a lot of songs and artists still that we would love to have, in particular, we've been trying to get Metallica, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin, so hopefully sometime in the near future, my wish, and everybody's wish will come true and we can get some of their music in the game."

Sorry, can't stop looking at shit like this from a programmer's perspective. So save up and get a next gen system.

The new news is sexy, though. They should give up on Metallica, though. Those money grubbers are gonna end up demanding more money for the licensing of one song than the game will generate in profits as a whole.

Extreme Angle 04-16-2007 02:17 PM

Create a Track
That would be amazing, import your song into the game name it, then sort out all of the stuff yourself, as i've never played GH before I wouldn't know how hard it would be to do it...
Planned on getting GH2 but i'd rather just wait till GH3 now...

PapaGeorgio 04-16-2007 04:43 PM

You should get Guitar Hero one, has the best songs in my opinion. Plus it's much more diverse, has something for everyone. Seemed like GH2 they got some guy who lives in a basement and plays guitar all day to pick the track list. While there are some good songs, just wasn't my type of music for the most part.

Kapoutman 04-16-2007 10:40 PM

If you've played "Frets on Fire" for PC, you'll notice the option to create your own songs. It's possible, but you do have to sort everything yourself. So I can't be bothered with it.

Innovator 04-17-2007 09:16 PM

cmon Stairway

KingofOldSchool 04-18-2007 03:25 PM

If they can get some Who and Hendrix on here, I'll be happy.

Oh and maybe another Pearl Jam song just because I'm a mindless fan who thinks they've got a lot of good Guitar Hero worthy songs too.

chrisat928 04-27-2007 06:07 AM

Fozzy should be in the game.

That alone they could probably do.

That combined with the fact that you need to be able to add or subtract the guitars as you play right or wrong (And bass/riddem in multiplayer)...Yeah, never happen. Unless they add in a potentially complicated interface (Even things like Freetar HEro are dodgy)

As soon as guitar hero hits PS3, they NEED to do downloadable tracks. It could work like itunes have a massive guitar hero library of songs.

Extreme Angle 04-28-2007 08:21 AM

360 already has that

Kane Knight 04-28-2007 09:56 AM

Downloadable content? There's a new idea for Guitar Hero!

Just John 04-28-2007 12:47 PM

Sorry I thought I was in 2005 for a moment there

Notice in the article they say that Neversoft was still working on the timing, so it might not be the tester's fault.

Disturbed316 05-31-2007 05:09 PM

The streak counter is good, a nice little addition. Hopefully some killer songs will be announced soon.

Funky Fly 05-31-2007 05:33 PM
