Why? I mean proivded you have a Broadband internet connection,
why continue to buy music in outdated formats, when you can get them in complete digital formats, for free?

It's not like you can't also download the album art, lyrics, and other items as well.

Why waste money on CD's, when you could buy Food, Beverages, or Drugs?

Primarily? Like like having complete access to my music. And the rights that go with it.

Digital music means ownership issues (At least with most music services), and no way to get them back if my MP3 player or computer is damaged (again, with most services).

But in most cases, it boils down to a rights issue for me. For example, iTunes, the number one music store, you don't REALLY own the music. You license it.

Personally, I just like having the cd. Why not spend money to support a band you like?

I like to support the artists/bands that I like, though I will always look to buy my CD's as cheaply as possible. If I have to spend more than £7-8 for an album, it better be a damn good album. A fiver or less is better, which I thank amazon marketplace for allowing me to do. Good times.

And I pretty much like having the physical CD, and all the things KK said.

90+% of the time, you're paying them 2 bucks or less (In America).

And two bucks is GOOD. In fact, fuck buying your music. Just download it and mail two bucks to the band.

Some albums I really enjoy the artwork and reading the notes from the band. Also, I don't have a CD burner so I like to have the CD so I can listen to it in the car.

I still rock my CD player. And I buy CD's. I also buy used CDs' alot

I will buy music if I really like it (usually after a download).

311 is about the only band I will pay to listen to their music now.

I buy New Zealand music, cause you usually can't download it. But that's the only reason I buy it, and if a friend has it, I'll burn it.

Plus I really do feel kind of bad for not buying a cd. It's like, they put all their time and effort into putting a cd out, the least I could do is buy it. I dunno, I'm just not keen on the whole downloading everything, it almost feels like stealing....unless it's porn.

I do support the bands, I go to their shows (the majority of their revanue comes from touring) and I may buy a Tshirt, or a sticker.

I also don't mean iTunes. Fuck iTunes. Paying for Digial Music is just insane. There's no excuse to do it.

Digital distribution is a solid idea. It's just...The practice is ass.

Also, I really do like the physical medium. I'm only really particular like that with books, music, and photos. Even videos, I don't care that much. But I like the ownership of the CD. I like the smell of the pages of the liner notes. When I read, I like something tangible in my hands...Unless it's porn.

If I didn't like the physicality, I probably wouldn't buy anything I could download.

I buy 50% of my music. Usually when new stuff comes out.

I purchase the CDs so that music artists can but a third or fourth golden painted hummer...

When it comes to "supporting the artists" I dunno, they probably wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire plus I see people doing much more important jobs making a lot less then Musicians so I don't really feel bad

Same. Also, sometimes you cant really access your mp3 player/PC In car with headphones is kinda dangerous( and illegal in some places). So CDs can do the job.

But yeah, as far as trying out new music and easy availability, torrents/ P2P can be great.

No matter what, the quality of the music sounds better when you buy the CD, not to mention it's officially yours, legally.

Also, I need to have everything..the case, the sleeve, the booklet thingy...and one other major reason, I feel the need to support the bands I enjoy listening to. They do this for their living, their hard work, so I dont see why I should go about stealing it. If everyone stopped buying the albums, there'd be big time problems hearing more music, or as much good music as possible in the future.

You can get an Mp3 CD player these days for about as much as a regular. In fact, a lot of head units now come with jacks for iPods and such.

Even if you can't have an MP3 player, burning CDs rocks, so why would it make a difference if your shit is purchase or just downloaded and burned?

Yeah, I agree, I love burning music. I only said the thing about CDs because of convenience. Thats all I care about really. As long as I'm listening to music, I'm fine.

Now, in honesty, I usually have about ten discs in my car, either MP3 CDs of legally owned music or copies so that my originals don't get lost, scratches, or stolen.

But it'd be easy for me to download it all and burn it. And just as convenient. Moreso, since I wouldn't have to leave my chair.

Personally I've found most of the cd's I buy are so cheap its actually more cost effective to do that than download anyway, and personally I just like owning the cd, the artwork, lyrics etc.

Obviously I can just use torrents to avoid paying but yknow
