And seeing as KK twisted my arm, here's my idea for a potential Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick feud...
On SmackDown! in London, Paul London & Brian Kendrick are scheduled to get their rematch against Deuce N' Domino for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Brian Kendrick cannot find Paul London, though. He eventually comes out alone, gets on the mic, and asks London where the Hell he is. Paul London makes him way to the ring in street attire, and he cuts a promo on Brian Kendrick.
"Why the Hell didn't you get yourself counted out or disqualified? We were just days away from surpassing Toru Tanaka and Mr. Fuji and becomming the third longest reigning Tag Team Champions in sports entertainment history. The last time I lost the WWE Tag Team Champions, it was because my partner left me alone in a two-on-one situation. We're meant to be partners, Brian; we're meant to learn from each other. You've proven that you haven't learned from me, but I'm aboutto prove I've learned from you. Remember what happened on January 13, 2004, when we were teaming together but you decided you weren't happy with your position in the company? You quit."
Paul London then walks off, leaving Brian Kendrick to challenge Deuce N' Domino by himself. JBL gets upset at London on commentary, and says that Paul London is a natural at this business, and he's not going to succeed in any venture as much as he could have at professional wrestling. Brian Kendrick puts up a worthy fight against The Throwbacks from The Other Side of the Tracks, which earns him respect from JBL ("Kendrick doesn't have a partner; he doesn't have a hope, but he's still fighting for a Championship when it's in front of him. Maybe you could learn from that, London?"), and he gets to make his own babyface comeback (as if he'd just made a hot tag), but he eventually finds himself overwhelmed and on the receiving end of Crack 'Em in the Mouth. Deuce then gets Kendrick in a diamond cutter position, and Domino comes off the top rope with a double axe handle on Kendrick. That's it for the student of Shawn Michaels. JBL applauds Kendrick's efforts as he heads to the back.
The WWE releases a statement of the agreed release of Paul London, wishing him the best of luck in his future endeavours. To make this story even more believable, the WWE could leak fake information that Paul London is actually leaving the WWE, dissatisfied with losing the WWE Tag Team Championship, and beaten down the road, so because he was on the tour, they decided to use him in a non-wrestling role, putting over Brian Kendrick.
Anyway, Brian Kendrick becomes a player in the Cruiserweight Division, beating Chavo Guerrero for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He defends the belt a few times, but then finds himself attacked after one of his matches on SmackDown!, by none other than Paul London. JBL says something like "Ha! I knew he would be back. This is great, Michael," while London beats the crap out of Kendrick, and holds the Cruiserweight Title up in the air, signifying his intent to challenge for it.
Of course, Brian Kendrick wants answers, so he calls out Paul London. His former partner refuses to reveal anything, though, but agrees to tell Kendrick all if he agrees to defend the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against London at the next WWE PPV (I think it will be Judgment Day by the time all the pieces are in place). The two face off, as Michael Cole points out this is the event where London & Kendrick won the WWE Tag Team Championship. Kendrick plays the aggressor in the early goings of their match, but London gets the advantage, and presses it. Kendrick makes a comeback, and hits Sliced Bread #2 for the victory.
On SmackDown!, Paul London reveals that the reason he attacked Kendrick was because he wanted Brian at his best. He didn't want a conflicted Champion. He wanted winning the Championship to mean something. London says he may have underestimated his partner a bit, but he admits that Kendrick was the better man at Judgment Day. London offers his hand to Kendrick, and Brian accepts. Later in the show, Paul London is found beaten on the ground, and he has to be taken to a medical facility. It is announced that Paul London is injured, and won't be back for a few weeks. Paul London reveals exclusively to WWE.com that it was Brian Kendrick who attacked him.
Everyone, including Theodore Long, believe Kendrick beat London as payback for the beating he put on Kendrick when he returned. Kendrick denies it, but Long still punishes him, giving him a gruelling Cruiserweight Title defence schedule. Kendrick manages to keep the Title through Hell and high water, sometimes cheating to retain the belt. During this time, he changes his music back to "Hey You", and starts wearing his old "Spanky" attire. He doesn't want to connect himself with Paul London anymore. Michael Cole says it's because he feels betrayed by London, and JBL claims that it is because he feels guilty.
Paul London eventually returns, and vowes revenge on Kendrick for what he did to him. London says that when he attacked Kendrick, he did it to better Brian. Kendrick attacked him to end his career. The two clash again at One Night Stand, and London plays the babyface this time, and he manages to roll-up Kendrick using the tights and the ropes for the 1-2-3. Brian Kendrick seems to go through a crisis at this point, as he has lost some of his fans, and he has lost his Cruiserweight Title.
Ashley Massaro makes her return around this time (she can come into the storyline earlier, though), and she asks Brian why he did what he did. Kendrick says that he didn't attack Paul London, and he wants to know what he has to do to prove it. He agrees to take a lie detector test, or something. Even though there are ways it can be cheated, Ashley agrees that it might make Kendrick more believable. Brian passes with flying colours, and then she approaches the new Cruiserweight Champion about taking a similar test. London refuses to go along with it. Ashley now believes that London is the one concealing the truth. She asks London why he would lie about all of this, and then Ashley accuses London of just trying to get into Brian's head so he could take the Title. London denies this, but it becomes apparent that London is the true bad guy in this feud, and Kendrick has been the protangonist all along. A match is made by Theodore Long at The Great American Bash, to discover the truth. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick - If Paul London loses, he has to submit himself to a polygraph test, under penalty of being stripped of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Kendrick plays the complete babyface against London at GAB, but London manages to come close to stealing it several times. Eventually Brian Kendrick gets the pin with a modified version of Sliced Bread #2, with some help from Ashley, who crotches London on top, allowing Kendrick to climb, and hit the move from there. London then has to do a polygraph test then and there, the idea being that London will be too exhausted from the match to effectively cheat. Ashley asks London if Brian Kendrick was the person who attacked him. Paul London says "yes", but the polygraph reads it as a lie. Ashley then looks disgusted and says "We're done here," but Kendrick still has some questions for London. He basically just uses his knowledge from when he was teaming with Paul London to embarass him here. He asks questions like "Did you one day pick up in St. Louis, Missouri, muck around with her a bit, only to discover that she wasn't exclusively a girl?" Theodore Long tells London that technically he has to answer. This is basically just good guy gets revenge hour.
On SmackDown!, Brian Kendrick announces that he has plans to now challenge Paul London for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, as he does hold a pin over the Champion. London is of course upset at being embarrassed, so he attacks Kendrick in a rage, and the brawl gets quite intense, which leads to Theodore Long signing a Ladder Match between the two at Summerslam for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The match is all it can be, and just as it looks like Brian Kendrick is about to win, a big guy runs down, and prevents Kendrick from climbing the ladder, and beats him around a bit. I'm thinking this big guy can be someone like Mason Raige, or Jacob Duncan. Paul London then gets free passage to the Cruiserweight Title belt, allowing him to retain.
The following edition of SmackDown! has Paul London introduce us to his ally, who is also the guy Paul London hired to attack him, which lead to Kendrick becomming psychologically weaker, and allowing him to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion. London unofficially shares the Title with the man. Brian Kendrick then runs through the crowd, and London runs for it, as the big guy stays to fight. Kendrick kicks him low, and hits him with Sliced Bread #2, however. Kendrick then cuts off his "Hey You" theme when it plays, and asks them to play his and London's theme (which London still uses). It becomes apparent that Brian Kendrick is wearing his HooliganZ attire, as well. Kendrick basically tries to remind London of what they used to be, and haunts him for the weeks leading into No Mercy, where the two collide in a Steel Cage Match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, so that the big guy can't interfere. Brian Kendrick goes over there cleanly with some souped up version of Sliced Bread #2, to win his second WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
