Taz appreciation thread
Taz was fuckin awesome, the guy could do like 100 suplexes, and his title run is ECW was great. Its too bad hes a fat announcer on the C show but oh well
Anyways show your love for Taz here. |
Taz is great, and even though he's an announcer and his injury/size cut his run in WWE unrealized, he's still remembered. Him being involved with the company still will help preserve his legacy because they'll embrace it if he stays around.
He was awesome, and I predict he'll be the only guy inducted into the WWE HOF for his ECW accomplishments alone. RVD will probably be the only other guy should he stay around, and that will be based mostly on his WWE run and overally career. |
Yea i agree, I can see Taz in the HOF someday. I loved the feud with him and Sabu, also Team Taz was good.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Taz DVD either, from his early days as the Tazmaniac taggin with Sabu, to his days as the Human Suplex Machine. He also helped out alot backstage in the old ECW days. |
His Tshirt in 2000 had to be one of the years biggest selling peices of merchandise. It was everywhere in crowds and on fans. It seems like everyone was buying a Tazz shirt, even if he wasn't being pushed.
|
Yea i remember that and beein like wtf? Being that I only ever seen him wrestle a handful of matches in the WWE, it was like when RVD came in during the invasion.
Also when he choked out Kurt Angle the night after the Royal Rumble in Philly, I was like 13 and marked the fuck out. |

That was probably his coolest moment and match in WWE, aside from his initial debut at RR against Angle. |
fuck, pictured dissapeared. It was Tazz with the ECW title on Smackdown.
A Tazz dvd set would be pretty money. |

I'd like to see Taz start working with younger talent like he did in his old ECW days, maybe show Bobby Lashley a suplex or two |
He can't wrestle anymore due to his neck. If he could he'd have continued wrestling and not phased into commentary. He'd probably have eventually gotten the push he deserved at first, nothing huge but an uppermidcard push would likely have been in the cards.
I wish he was still wrestling, but unfortunately he can't, not even for a few matches. |

I wouldnt have minded seeing Taz Vs Benoit either.
|
They faced 3 or 4 times on Smackdown in 2000. I haven't seen the matches since then though, I'd assume they were good but not given the time to be great.

rep to anyone who can link one of those matches from youtube or daily motion, I haven't found it

double rep

How is Taz vs Joe a dream match. Joe is horrible. Now a good Taz vs Brock match would have been awesome.
|
Well in my opinion (you see im not an idiot) Joe is the shit.
|
Lol, Joe is horrible.
I think exaggeration is quickly becoming an artform. |
Jordan X thinks Taz v Joe would be a dream match because they look kind of similar and both enjoy suplexes.
Problem is that one of them sucks. |
His matches with Bam Bam were great.
|
In ECW he was such a daunting force against other wrestlers. Remember when 911 chokeslammed him, he kicks back up and becomes to first ever to choke out 911. Good times, good times..

Cell structures tend to rise greatly in height. Every match type is the most brutal. Come on, in a genre where hyperbole is the LIFEBLOOD of the business, is it really surprising that the marks are drama queens? It's like those kids who think emo "speaks to them." |
Jordan X is a moron.

Anyone who thinks Joe sucks is a fucking idiot.
He may never live up to the hype he gets, but Joe is FAR from horrible. |

To bring Joe in a discussion about Taz is UNACCEPTABLE
|
Taz is a great fucking announcer.

You tell em Sticky

Taz is a fuckin' beast. One of the only note worthy things in ECW's long, mostly uninteresting story. If it wern't for Taz, Raven and RVD, ECW would have been just another no name, unimportant indy fed. Those three men alone made people convinced it was actually a big time player...to the point that people started saying "Big 3." ECW is lucky they scored big with those three. Oh and Team Taz was the shit.
P.S. Scotty 2 Hotty > Samoa Joe. Joe sucks. |
Your definitly right about that one, and Team Taz was the shit
|
Taz is one of my all time favorite wrestlers. It's a shame his career just...fizzled out.

But Taz > the rest of ECW |

They had SO many chances to do so much more with Taz than what they did. His arrival was giant! People reaked over him. Let's face it, no one actually watched ECW, but everyone kind of knew that it was a company with hardcore rules all the time. Hell I remember people talking about how in ECW they bring sawed of shotguns to the ring for shits a giggles, I never really tried to correct them since they wern't too far from the truth, but he was VERY well received. I think it all kind of went south at WrestleMania 2000 when Hardcore Holly at the last second got the pinfall and left as Hardcore Champ. That should have been Taz to leave with the belt. Then he just kind of floated around doing nothing before Raven came in. Ok, so they have Taz and Raven, two of ECW's biggest names, and people got behind them again...so they got fed to Jerry Lawler? :wtf: But still despite this, they teased almost the entire time during the InVasion that Taz was going to fucking go buck nutty on everyone...but they dropped the ball again. Taz easily could have said "Ah fuck this!" to Austin, not leave the Alliance, but create a rouge faction of it. People who stuck with the Alliance because they were tired of WWE, but they wern't about to kiss Austin's ass over it. I realise that came off as Alienoid, but it's just the first thing thar sprang to mind.
The point is, they had at least half a dozen good chances to turn Taz into a serious Upper Midcard Threat...but they let every one of them fade away. :-\ |
