Batista Blows
Young Black Country wrestling fans were left disappointed when an American wrestling superstar refused to speak to them or have pictures taken, it was claimed today.
Hundreds turned out to see wrestler Batista appear at Woolworths in Wolverhampton yesterday. The store had been running a promotion where youngsters were given a prized ticket to meet the 6ft 5in giant after buying any WWE merchandise from there. Queues snaked outside the store, with many youngsters taking the afternoon off school to catch a glimpse of the former WWE heavyweight and tag team champion just hours before he appeared in the ring in Birmingham as part of the WWE world tour. But one of those, Sedgley youngster Kyle Peplow, went home in tears after his meeting with his wrestling idol. Kyle’s dad Colin, of Sedgley Hall Avenue, said the way youngsters had been treated was “disgraceful”. He said: “Kyle got a ticket and couldn’t sleep the night before, he was so excited at meeting Batista and he had the afternoon off school. All his mates were telling him how jealous they were. “But when he got there we were told Batista would only be signing WWE merchandise. We queued for nearly two hours and he signed a WWE book, didn’t even look at him or say a word and that was it. His mum was trying to take a picture of the two on the mobile phone but his bouncers kept standing in the way to stop it. “And he refused to sign a birthday card that Kyle had taken in because it is his birthday in three weeks. “I think it is absolutely disgraceful for a man who is loved by so many kids to behave like this. We go down to the Wolves training ground all the time and they can’t do enough for us. If they can make the effort I don’t see why a jumped-up bloke in tights can’t do the the same. Kyle couldn’t stop crying.” The 6ft 5ins hulk was promoting last night’s Wrestlemania Revenge Tour at Birmingham’s NEC Arena which saw Batista take on perennial favourite Undertaker. Limited tickets were available for the meet and greet session at Woolworths with the first 500 shoppers to buy WWE merchandise gaining access to see the star in the flesh. Amy Miller, 17 and Pete Stevens, 21, were one of the first to arrive outside Woolworths at 5am. Pete, from Sandwell said he had waited for years to meet Batista, but admitted he did seem a little “jetlagged” when signing his autograph. “I didn’t say much and he looked a bit jetlagged to be honest.” Woolworths spokesman Daniel Himsworth said: “Woolworths is extremely disappointed that its customers were disappointed by the WWE superstar.” But WWE’s Ross Walker said said two hours would normally be allocated for such a signing, but yesterday’s session had to be cut to an hour because of transport problems. http://www.expressandstar.co.uk/2007...blow-for-fans/ |
It happens. At least he didn't charge like a bajillion dollars.

It happens. I suspect it was because of the session having to be cut short. He was probably told to sign as much as possible and keep interaction short. He had to get through 500 fans in an hour. Tough to do.
Fans at these sessions have a huge sense of entitlement. They come up with like 5 pieces of merchandise that they all want signed, expect wrestlers to pose for multiple pictures, and make small talk at the same time. It gets tiring, I'm sure. |
I don't doubt that he is actually a huge dick tho.

Sucks, cuz he used to be a nice guy too, supposedly. Oh well.

Breaking news:
Man has bad day, does his job and doesn't smile! OMFG!!!!!!!!!! I read about this the other day, he wasn't personally charging for it, he was sent to do it and did it, I do autograph signings at our shows, (obviously not on the same scale) but it's fucking dull and I normally only do about 100-200 signings each time |
I've heard a number of stories about him being a genuinely nice guy on his own time, so I'm not going to condemn him on this one tale.

Well, sort of piggybanking off of Blitz, there are two sides two a story. We've only heard the "victim's" side.
|
BREAKING NEWS: Turns out this story is a total sham. Batista was unavoidably detained from the signing, therefore a baboon was substituted for the appearance. Nobody in line seemed to notice.
(NAKED PICTURES OF REPLACEMENT BATISTA BABOON INSIDE!!! HOTTTT!!!) |

Sounds to Mr Regal like the man was fucking tired.
If i had to sign a billion autographs after flying around the ficking world in a few days and working to boot, i may be a little jaded too. That kid and his dad should shut the fuck up whining, and understand that Wrestlers are human beings like the rest of us who get tired. |

I think it all depends when and where you meet them.
I think a two week marathon tour would make anyone a little pissy. |
sitting on your ass, smiling and signing your signature is very difficult guys.
|
Fuck little kids. Bats did the right thing.
|
BigDaddyCool autograph session sends many children home crying.

Batista is really awesome in real life. We were going to a show a few month back and stopped in the little dinner near the arena and who should we see but Dave Batista.
Now I'm not a rude guy so I didn't say anything or try to disturb his meal, but he noticed I noticed him. He got up and came and said hello and asked us to sit down with him. Signed autographs and everything. So yeah, stand up dude. |

I never really liked Batista, so I wasnt suprised when I read this roid rage autograph signing
|
I love how the dad compares it to those "Wolves". Yeah, Batista is "jumped-up bloke in tights", but it's not like Batista sits on his ass all day, and flying from one side of the world to the other is a little bit different from even being on the road in England or even all of Europen.

The title of this thread was very misleading.
|
The whole complaint about him only signing WWE merchandise is likely a WWE policy so that's probably why he didn't sign the birthday card.

Batista is gonna turn heel.

Batista should get a new gimmick...
"Clumsy" Dave. He should fall over doing his entrance, slip and fall during his pyro, walk into the barricades etc. Then Scotty II Hotty should give him THE WORM and WWE should release him after that. |
