Oh yea, to go into more detail for some of those who don't know the PPV results yet (fuck spoilers), he won it tonight at Backlash. I have nothing else to add to that other than what I said in the above post.

Not even gonna lie, I wish so so so much that he won like... the WCW title instead. I'm an old school ECW mutant and this is just the culmination of destroying the ECW I knew in favor of WWECW.

Mind you, I've enjoyed WWECW lately, but I dunno, the legacy just was tarnished a bit to me.

Big Show I think tranished it...this was placing the legacy in the corner and giving it a yellow shower.

ECW was dead in 2001. Anything after that was WWECW, including the Invasion and including the original One Night Stand.

Nah, I can live with Show. ECW was the land of misfit toys, the place where guys who could and should be over, got over because Paul E. could book them. Paul E could book Show like no one else. (See: The era of Lesnar)

Heyman was booking during the Lesnar era? I thought it was after that?

The reformation of ECW on Raw was perfect, it did go to shit however when they joined WCW. I however, wrote that off to the alliance and less to WWECW. I enjoyed both original ONS however.

I was pretty sure he was essintially in charge of booking the progression of Lesnar as well as the feud with Brock and Show.

Coulda swore he had a role in Smackdown at the time. Hence the awesomeness of the Smackdown Six as well.

I hated Lashley as the ECW champ. I should really hate this, but I don't. I don't like it though.

ECW died in 2001 so what the fuck should I care anyway? If Vince winning the title makes for a really good storyline/angle then I won't mind too much.

It'd be sweet if Vince defends it a few times in harcore rules matches. It won't happen, but it would be sweet.

I'd rather Vince win the WWECW title than World or WWE (again).

Calling it right now. Lashley comes out tommorow night and says that on ECW on Tuesday, he will exercise his right to a rematch in an extreme rules match, but Shane and Umage cannot interfere.

I wouldn't stop at just unifying the World titles either. Both tag belts, IC, US, Cruiser, bring back the Euro and get it, same with Hardcore, buy TNA and NWA naming rights and get the X-Division and NWA Strap...he could just come out draped in gold and declare himself perpetual supreme overlord of all of wrestling and retire all the belts.

When The Big Show was champion I said I wasn't going to watch until he no longer had the title. Then when he lost it to Lashley, I said the same thing. Well you know what? I'm still not going to watch it? Why? It's not just Vince as champion, it's this bullshit booking. God, I just lost all will to live and for the first time ever I feel some shame in being a wrestling fan.

Why not just have Vince come down into a ring with the ECW originals, shit on the belt. Legitimately murder the originals and just burn down the 'ECW' ring.

Keep it short and sweet.

We all know this incarnation of ECW is a shell of what ECW actually was. It humiliates both Vince for trying and us for bearing witness. I can live with it, for the sake of him trying to make money as I don't knock people trying to make money. I'll also admit that I don't give a shit about Bobby Lashley.

But was that really necessary?

This is gonna help the struggling franchise known as ECW. We make the man who was the counterpoint of the ECW movement its champion. We have him go over someone who is supposed to be one of the next big stars in the business. We make him the forefront of "ECW's" 'evolution' (de-evolution anyone?) and on top of that, we have him mock the originals because Vince knows about what made those guys great...

Give me a fucking break. Yeah, I know. To the victor go the spoils, but beyond the obvious(this screaming massive ego rub) it tells me that Vince has completely lost touch with anything remotely resembling reality. Yeah, its been a long drawn out angle and sure, maybe they're going somewhere with it. However, let's consider A: Vince has always done crap like this and B: Its WWE. Which tells me its not going anywhere. Sorry to rant, but I was disgusted watching that unfold.

I'm not so upset that Vince is the Champion, but it's rather the mentality behind it. I mean, come on, is there any other reason he made himself Champion so he could make Paul Heyman kill himself, so the WWE doesn't have to worry about him going to another promotion and they can stop paying his paychecks?

I think I said it in another thread: Out of the challengers, Vince has the best chance at winning, but both Umaga and Shane McMahon would be preferable Champions. Shane McMahon would actually be a really fun ECW Champion. He puts the New Breed into matches to wear down his enemies, and when he does have to defend, he puts on a pretty good show. Some could argue Vince can do that, but let's just face it, Shane is more likable than Vince.

A lot of people have made comments about how this will lead to The Originals going after Vince McMahon's head (if they were smart, they'd bring back Paul Heyman as a mouthpiece for them, as well), and Umaga possibly joining the New Breed (whereas Lashley would join the Originals). This could be pretty cool.

Another idea that just popped into my head, though:

Who else would mark out like a little bitch if Vince was celebrating his title win on RAW, and Mr. Kennedy came out to congratulate him, then just suddenly said "Hey Vince, guess when I'm cashing in my Money in the Bank title shot?" for no other reason than for us to see Mr. Kennedy slap around Vince for a bit, and then beat him for the ECW World Championship. It wouldn't make too much sense, but it would be a mark out moment and a half.

Spoken like a true optimist there.

And a Kennedy run in would be super sweet

Kennedy cashing in for the ECW World Title, McMahon or not, does nothing for me. Also, this is like a step down for Vince. A former WWF Champion now reigning as the ECW Champion.
