Results don't lie.

People who know good music vote GnR, people who don't know what they're on about, vote Metallica. Unfortunately, it seems most people don't know what they're on about. ;)

Anyway, regardless of what this poll says, GnR made great music that will never be forgotten, Metallica have just been around for longer so people are more likely to vote for them based on that.

Blitz 05-02-2007 03:12 PM

G 'N' R, pretty easily.

Londoner 05-02-2007 03:13 PM

Blitz, you're my favourite poster now.

D Mac 05-02-2007 03:27 PM

Blitz, The One was right.

Londoner 05-02-2007 03:39 PM

The one was wrong.

The one can only ever be right if he's a GnR fan.

What Would Kevin Do? 05-02-2007 04:00 PM

GnR

Kane Knight 05-02-2007 04:05 PM

Metallica. Don't get me wrong, Lars sucks. And Metallica are a bunch of cocksuckers. And they're overrated. But MEtallica > GnR.

D Mac 05-02-2007 04:07 PM

Fair enough KK.

Rammsteinmad 05-02-2007 04:13 PM

Metallica.

Stickman 05-02-2007 04:33 PM

GNR is pretty over rated

Skippord 05-02-2007 04:33 PM

Megadeth

Londoner 05-02-2007 04:37 PM

GNR is pretty over rated

Overrated in what sense? They made a massive impact during their short time they were around and were the biggest band at the time. Its not the length of time a band is around for that matters, but the impact made.

Shisen Kopf 05-02-2007 04:47 PM

GnR by far. Metallica are ok I guess but GnR has better songs and Slash is a better guitarist and all that.

Londoner 05-02-2007 04:48 PM

^ Exactly. Slash > anyone in Metallica. Infact, Slash > anyone. Atleast with GnR, you aren't getting the same songs over and over, they actually tried to be creative.

Requiem 05-02-2007 05:08 PM

Yeah, Metallica isn't too popular these days.. but they are better than Guns n Roses. A lot better.

Dunno.. for all the old rock I used to listen to, the only songs I even remember by GnR are "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child of Mine", and the second is only because of Guitar Hero 2. But, I know I've listened to a lot more than that by GnR.

Not a very big impact if I can only remember 2 songs that they did.

There's my answer.

Stickman 05-02-2007 06:39 PM

NOw there's a coincidence, guess what's being played on the radio right now, and guess what the only GNR song I ever hear is on right now....Welcome to the Jungle.

Stickman 05-02-2007 06:40 PM

I really want to change the station cuz I'm sick of this song.

The world is bigger than you and what you remember. I've got loads of stuff from them on youtube of their live performances, if you like that sort of music you'll like them. Check how many times comments such as 'best band in the world' come after the video. If songs can stay with someone after 15 years(like don't cry has..seen someone comment about that before on there) then thats a pretty big impact.

Anathema 05-02-2007 06:55 PM

The Spaghetti Incident should be burned!

At least Metallica's bad albums were still good. SI was just pure crap

Londoner 05-02-2007 06:57 PM

^ Metallicas bad albums were shit. The only songs i really like from them are 'Unforgiven' and 'Nothing else matters', every other song is the same rubbish tbh.

Stickman 05-02-2007 07:04 PM

Nothing else matters? Thats from their highest selling record. Shit eh?

Londoner 05-02-2007 07:07 PM

I said I liked it, i don't get what your point is. read my point again. Anyway, its cool. Don't mean to come off negatively here, just arguing why GnR aren't overrated like some people think, you need to hear them live really to understand the impact they had.

Kane Knight 05-02-2007 09:25 PM

He's a huuuuge Metallica fan. One of the most overrated bands ever. Don't sweat him too much.

Seriously, you could put forth the argument that people only remember, say, "Enter Sandman" and "the Unforgiven." Or your choices work. People could cherry pick shit as much as they wanted. But it doesn't matter.

To be honest, GNR probably are overrated. outside this board, though, I don't know anyone who really likes them beyond a few songs, so I can't call them overrated from my specific experience. They've never been hyped, to me, as revolutionary or groundbreaking or "best ever."

Too bad they had Axl. That's enough reason as to why they kinda suck.

I like music from that genre.. I also like those two songs that I mentioned. I don't, however, like anything else that they've done. The world is also bigger than you and what your favorite band in the world is, so obviously other people couldn't give two shits that you think GnR is the greatest band ever.

That's like me making a thread saying why Tool is better than "X" band, and expecting everyone to agree with me. I think Tool is one of the greatest bands ever, for their sheer musical talent and how they all work so well together in just (in my opinion) sounding amazing. Not their influence or whatever, but because I think they go perfect together. I think they are some of the most talented individuals in the music industry.

Does that mean I expect anyone to agree with me? No. In fact, I would expect quite a few people to disagree with me here. Now pull your panties out of your crack and go back to listening to what I consider mediocre music. :y:

Kid Robb 05-03-2007 01:14 AM

GNR

el fregadero 05-03-2007 02:27 AM

November Rain is sick. GNR's version of 'Live and Let Die' is the tops as well, Req. Check those two out I say.

el fregadero 05-03-2007 02:27 AM

Metallica wins because of ...And Justice For All though.

The Naitch 05-03-2007 02:30 AM

I like GnR better

El Fangel 05-03-2007 02:58 AM

I think Metallica is better. They have more memorable songs (at least for me)

Here goes in my opinion

Kill Em All - Debut, fairly good album, solid songs
Ride The Lightning
Master Of Puppets - Had very good songs, and one that consisted of a 8 minute guitar solo
...And justice for all - very good album, I liked very much, solid songs
Black -

Load -Metallica decides to take a shit on its fans
ReLoad - Just about pulls pants up, and realizes why not shit some more
Garage Inc - Wiped the shit off the fans face
S&M - Pissed on the fans
St Anger - Toilet backs up.

Ok, now for all the albums I shit on, a few have some Gems, St Anger has Dirty Window, for example.

As for GnR I really don't know much more then, Welcome to the Jungle, and Sweet Child of Mine. Guess I just didn't listen to them that much.

D Mac 05-03-2007 05:00 AM

Load was a solid album. S&M was awesome. Only Metallica could have pulled that off. No Leaf Clover is an amazing song.

I do admit St Anger is pure shit.

Downunder 05-03-2007 05:03 AM

Metallica, no contest

D Mac 05-03-2007 05:05 AM

I love you, Aussie. :D

Requiem 05-03-2007 05:46 AM

Yeah, S&M was amazing. Dunno what you're on about FA.
