Monsieur Kennedy Injured.

Front Page is reporting that Kennedy has suffered a significant injury.

Quote:

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Mr. Kennedy suffered what was believed to be a triceps injury over the weekend.

It appears to be significant.

More shortly.

This sucks, I was hoping he was gonna cash in his briefcase next week and get the title off Taker. Now looks like we're looking at another huge Batista run :( Argh.

But the good news is that it means another exciting Batista/Henry feud!

Jordan 05-07-2007 06:11 PM

Steriods.

Jordan 05-07-2007 06:13 PM

Well maybe not who am I to say... This sucks none the less, Kennedy was one of the reasons a lot of us tune in week to week. WWE should probably lower their schedule a bit. Anybody ever notice most injuries happen at house shows? I wonder why? Is it neglect, coincidence, or what?

XL 05-07-2007 06:13 PM

Looks like SmackDown!'s wrestlers are dropping like flies again.

And once again they're likley to do nothing about it.

Sux to be SmackDown!

If he is injured they should make him a commentator for a while to keep him on TV so he doesn't lose any momentum.

Londoner 05-07-2007 06:16 PM

Why is it wrestlers suddenly get injured when Mark Henry returns? Coincidence? I don't think so.

M-A-G 05-07-2007 06:18 PM

Isn't this his second injury to that area?

DAMN iNATOR 05-07-2007 06:19 PM

DAMMIT. Now it's all but sealed that by the end of tomorrow night's SmackDown! taping, Batista will be walking out with the gold--AGAIN:mad: :nono:

Splaya 05-07-2007 06:48 PM

I've read on a couple of sites that as of right now, they are anticipating that Kennedy has the same Triceps tear that Batista had last year that put him on the shelf for 6 months

Jordan 05-07-2007 06:49 PM

At least WM 24 is probably still gonna be ok. I bet he is thanking god that they wrote that.

SammyG 05-07-2007 06:51 PM

Whatever, BULL FUCKIN SHIT. I am not seeing anything on other websites. Not gonna believe it for now. god damnit, this is the worst wrestling news ever.

Mr. Nerfect 05-07-2007 06:51 PM

This could be a blessing in disguise for Mr. Kennedy. I mean, really, it was not the right time to put the World Heavyweight Championship on him. The Royal Rumble would have been better. An edition of SmackDown!? Mmm. I'd rather wait. At least now the WWE has no chance of fucking it up.

Kennedy should still appear on TV, reminding us he has the briefcase, and that this injury is God's way of telling him he should wait to cash in the title shot. I never thought of him being a colour commentator. Those were the good old days, when colour commentary positions weren't always tied down, so an injured guy could jump into the seat for a bit. I know he's a SmackDown! guy, but they should have him replace Jerry Lawler for a little bit on RAW. Or fuck, have him temporarily fill the General Manager position on RAW or ECW, because they've been vacant for the longest period of time.

Batista winning his third World Title on SmackDown! was always the way they should have gone, in my opinion. Batista should not, and will not, get a long run with the belt, but it is the right thing to do at the current time.

Better Than You 05-07-2007 06:52 PM

I really hope they keep him on TV for their sake.

Mr. Nerfect 05-07-2007 06:52 PM

If this is a swerve, and Kennedy is fine, and he cheats to win the WHT on SmackDown!, I will be happy he isn't hurt, but sad he won the title.

Better Than You 05-07-2007 06:52 PM

A surprise return to win the strap would be awesome though.

Batista winning was always the logical outcome, and now that the second choice is gone, it does seem even more likely, but there is an another road the WWE could take.

The Undertaker successfully defends the World Heavyweight Championship successfully against Batista, and gets one positive defence under his reign before he is forced to drop the title due to injury. Then they can do a tournament (they could maybe even call it the King of the Ring, so they can have the winner get an extra boost by winning both) for the vacant title.

* Batista
* Finlay
* Chris Benoit
* Montel Vontavious Porter
* Kane
* William Regal
* Dave Taylor
* Matt Hardy

Fuck Mark Henry and The Boogeyman. Batista defeats Finlay, because let's face it, Batista is the bigger draw. Chris Benoit and MVP work their magic again, I'm going to assume MVP will be US Champion by the time this match happens, so Benoit goes over cleanly with the Crippler Crossface. Kane manages to beat Regal with a Chokeslam, in a match that allows Regal to get some offence in. Hardy gets to be Taylor's first "real" opponent in the WWE. It doesn't do him any good, as Hardy picks up the victory.

Yeah, this gives us four faces advancing. Who gives a shit? Chris Benoit does his best to get another great match out of Batista. Will he succeed? Maybe. Benoit does the job, to the Batista Bomb. Kane plays the heel in his match with Matt Hardy, and although Hardy makes a comeback, he eventually eats a Chokeslam for the pin.

The finals of the tournament are set: Batista vs. Kane. These two men had a great little outing on SmackDown! a few weeks back, so this could be a better man than what is sounds on paper. Kane goes over here, and wins his first World Heavyweight Championship.

That is true, and I actually think that will be the path they take. :y:

Six months from now will take us up until around Survivor Series. Perhaps Kennedy could cash in there, as it is a big PPV?

KingofOldSchool 05-07-2007 07:12 PM

MIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTEEEERRRRRRR INNNNJUURRRRYYYYYY

...INJURY.

KingofOldSchool 05-07-2007 07:14 PM

ource: Wrestling Observer, Wrestling Observer Newsletter

It is believed that Mr. Kennedy suffered a triceps injury over the weekend. No other details have come out regarding the injury, but it appears to be significant. Batista went down with a similar injury early last year and was out for about six months.

There is a feeling right now that they have to do a Batista vs. Mark Henry match because Henry "injured" Batista and Henry wound up injured before Batista could get his revenge on him. If they go through with the program, it will likely be a short-term deal because of the fear of a lengthy program unnecessarily increasing the risk of injury for Batista, whose entire career has been interrupted by one torn muscle after another.

Skippord 05-07-2007 07:28 PM

FUCK EVERYTHING

hb2k 05-07-2007 07:31 PM

Alienoid makes a great point - Kennedy isn't ready for the belt, he hasn't been built to it right, and hotshotting it on him one week after losing clean to Matt Hardy isn't smart. Batista is the right guy to win because he's been built to that level, no matter how much he sucks, it's the right move.

The One 05-07-2007 07:40 PM

If I were WWE, I keep him on the air. Kind of like how they did when Austin was injured. Hell, don't even say he's injured, have him come out and cut promos, do commentary, do just about everything but have a match stating that since he knows when he's cashing in his MitB, he's got nothing to prove until WrestleMania. If they're serious about Kennedy (which I don't understand, but if they're going for it, go for it full force), he stays on the air, and for months until someone can finally coerce him into a match, he just let's his ego through.

Mr. JL 05-07-2007 07:41 PM

Man, Smack Down is taking a shit kicking in the past little while...

Rey Mysterio, Booker T, Undertaker and now Mr. Kennedy.

The One 05-07-2007 07:42 PM

The SmackDown curse...if you're over and on SmackDown, you're injured.

KingofOldSchool 05-07-2007 07:45 PM

What I'd like to see is Batista turn heel in the cage match "injuring" Undertaker.

Then next week Batista ends up injuring Kennedy as well.

This can set up Kennedy just nicely when he recovers.

:'(

Londoner 05-07-2007 07:54 PM

Kennedy is overrated I think anyway tbh, should never have won money in the bank..he is yet to have a match that really entertains me.

Could not agree more. Having said that, he isn't the worse guy they've decided upon as a future Main Eventer. He's got his "...Kennedy" thing, and that's it, but that's still more than Bobby or Bats have...so...whatever that's worth I guess...

I'd rather take a one trick pony over a no trick pony.

D Mac 05-07-2007 08:07 PM

Why are all these mother fuckers getting injured right before the event I paid to go see? It's a conspiricy against me I tell you! :mad:

6to1 05-07-2007 08:07 PM

well he is like hogan or piper pure mic and on that he is the best thing going.

tucsonspeed6 05-07-2007 08:07 PM

You're absolutely right, "Thug Life"... Kennedy has less wrestling ability than a Diva search reject. :roll:

Londoner 05-07-2007 08:10 PM

Its TL these days, I never said he doesn't have wretsling ability, I just said he hasn't entertained me and i don't remember any moves he does. I am yet to be told of any to.

The One 05-07-2007 08:10 PM

Tucson, who said he was worse than Diva Search rejects?

Londoner 05-07-2007 08:12 PM

Diva Search rejects= No trick ponys.

Bats has the "Thumbs Down of DOOM"

The One 05-07-2007 08:18 PM

Did/does anyone, even the Batista marks, care about that??? If so, I'm sad.
